1 COMPETITION PROPOSAL 1.1 BACKGROUND Government of India wishes to build permanent museums in the States where Tribals lived, struggled against the British and refused to be bowed down. The Government will work to make such museums in different states so that the coming generations may know how the Tribals were ahead in making sacrifices. At present several Tribal museums exists across the country which are basically cultural museums. There are no museum that depicts the contribution of tribal freedom fighters and their sacrifices. Museum displaying the struggle of tribal freedom fighters would be a right tribute to the history of the Tribals as well as the National independence movement of India. 1.2 MAJOR OBJECTIVES AND SCOPE OF PROJECT: The main of objective of the proposed tribal museum: The free spirit of tribal through symbolic depiction of the theme of their contribution in Indian freedom struggle that shall evoke emotional connection amongst the audience. It is to collect, preserve, interpret and display items of historical events, struggles against British rule by tribal. To show the actual contribution in freedom struggle which have not been given its due diligence till now. To sensitize the present generation about the tribal contribution in the nation building. It will display the rich tribal culture, traditions, heritage of the tribals. The museum is also proposed to have a Center of Excellence for tribal and anthropological research. The museum will also show transformation of the tribal communities that has occurred due to the Tribal Development Programs like Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojana. There are several ways by which the contribution of the tribal freedom fighter can be depicted in the proposed museum. The contribution of the tribal community leaders can be made in a chronological manner and as the audience moves on to get the feelings of their struggle and pain. In this museum the history of the freedom struggle is depicted in interactive manner. The team shall further innovate and develop the concept and create the plan, design accordingly but not necessarily limited to mentioned theme only: 1. Tribal contribution in the Indian Freedom Struggle through Historical Materials Display their struggle using modern communications-(audio-visuals) Audio-visual documentaries
Sound and light shows. 2. Tribal Culture and Life Style Tribal Handicrafts, artefacts Narration of cultural richness using modern communication technology 3. Tribal Knowledge Focus on tribal wisdom specific to nature Display of tribal ecology ,herbs and medicine 4. Center of Excellence for Tribal Archives, Research and Documentation Archives for Scholars Research facilities to Scholars Administrative offices, academic facilities, state of art library, seminar halls and auditorium 5. Tourist/Picnic Spot As tourist/picnic spot for outside and local visitors 1.3 AIM The aim of the competition is to design an iconic museum for tribal freedom struggle in Rajpipla that will reflect the spirit of tribals and also their culture and lifestyle. The team shall develop the concept considering the Tribal Theme and the same shall reflect in design of building, gallery, entrance and other features. The design developed by team shall be in accordance with existing laws governing the design/construction activities. 1.4 DESIGN TOPIC National museum for tribal freedom fighters in Rajpipla, Gujarat 1.5 MAJOR COMPONENTS: Museum Complex, Amphitheater, Research institute, Souvenir shop, Cultural Center, Auditorium, Gallery with latest facilities such as 3D and 7D holographic, OAT, Panoramic and interactive screens technology, basic infrastructure, amenities for visitors/public, electrical works, lighting etc. 1.6 TOTAL SITE AREA: 25 acres ( 10.11 hectares)
1.7 ELIGIBILITY The “Competition” is open to all Architecture Students and professionals (with a group maximum of four people). Each participating group is required to fill in the enclosed “Expression of Interest” form. 1.8 THE SELECTION Selection Committees consisting of renowned Architects and Faculties will be doing ranking (and Screening) of entries. In the first round, max. 8 best entries will be selected based on the ranking of the proposals, as per the criteria formulated by the Committee. The participants of 8 short listed entries will be duly informed and called to Gandhinagar to appear before the Central Selection Committee in the Final Round of Competition to display and present their entries. The approximate timing of the same is around one month. 1.9 SCHEDULE Standard Registration starts: 28/02/2018. Standard Registration ends: 22/03/2018. Closing day for Submissions 26/03/2018. Announcement of Shortlisting of candidates: 02/04/2018. Jury Date (Presentation): 09/04/2018. Announcement of Winners: 11/04/2018. *Note: All deadlines are 11:59 pm - 00:00 IST (India).
1.10 REGISTRATION FEE: For Students - INR 100, for Professionals - INR500. 1. Registration form can be downloaded from website- https://dsag.gujarat.gov.in/ under notice/ advertisement section. The filled registration form shall be mailed back to email id- tribalmuseumcompetition2018@gmail.com, along with payment receipt. 2. Payment can be done through- a. 1.13 DELIVERABLES & SUBMISSION The participants are invited to send their entries / application containing the followings: • A self-declaration by the applicant(s) certifying the originality of the work should be submitted. • 8 page (Max.) report, A4 size (summarizing the concept, inspiration, case, idea exploration, material palette). • Perspective View of the buildings/structures in form of images (Jpegs). • Technical Drawings in scale 1:100, 1:200, 1:500 scale (guidelines) – 5 Nos (Max.) A1 size • 3D views to exhibit the design detailing and overall forms in PDF/JPEG format. • Submissions in form of Soft copies through email in form of PDF of drawings/ reports/ presentation work must be submitted. (email id- tribalmuseumcompetition2018@gmail.com) • If selected for final round, presentation to be made to the Jury as per the mentioned date of final evaluation. 1.14 GENERAL RULES 1. EOI is to be sent to email id- tribalmuseumcompetition2018@gmail.com 2. There is no limitation of the numbers of participating groups from any Institution. 3. Originality of work is essential and the application will be disqualified, if found otherwise. 4. The decision of the Expert Committee is final and binding. Canvassing in any kind will lead to disqualification. 5. Outstation candidates appearing for the final round of competition will be called. 6. All the entries / proposals received by DSAG at all stages of the above competition shall be treated as property of DSAG. 7. DSAG by means of the said competition shall reserve all the rights of the material provided in terms of drawings, images, files and documents and shall take care that the same is not used for any purpose without the consent of the candidate. 1.15 COST OF PROJECT Total cost of project- 55 crores
