Homecoming Week Activities
      1. Dress up days:
a. Monday - Kooks vs. Pogues (social classes from the popular Netflix show Outer Banks. In
short, the Kooks are a wealthy, preppy group and the Pogues are a poor, hippie/hipster type)
b. Tuesday - Tie Dye
c. Wednesday - Space Day
d.      Thursday - NEJ School Spirit Day (7th: black; 8th: gold; Freshmen: white Sophomores: gray;
Juniors: black; Seniors: gold)
e. Friday - Video Game Day (students who may not have anything to wear for video game day
are encouraged to “Put on the Ritz” and dress their best for homecoming day!)
**We will conduct a costume contest each day, judged by our homecoming team, and have a
1st-3rd place winner for each grade level. 1st place winners will receive a dozen donuts from
Garcia’s! The winning TEACHERS each day (1st place from middle and 1st place from high
school) will also receive a $5 gift card to Garcia’s!

2. Spirit Links - same concept as years ago: each grade level purchases “links” to see which
grade level can make the longest chain ($.25 per link). Whichever grade (7th - 12th) that makes the
longest chain, the entire class will win pizza to eat for lunch homecoming day. At the pep rally, the
longest chain will be broken, and whoever has the broken link in the longest chain wins a cookie
cake!

3. Classroom door decorating contest - We will be conducting a door decorating contest
homecoming week. All teachers are encouraged to participate. Deck your door out in black and gold
for our homecoming, and encourage your students to help! The winning teacher (one from middle and
one from high school--announced on Friday morning) will receive a dozen donuts from Garcia’s (half
chocolate filled and half cream filled :)).

JUNIOR HIGH STUDENT COUNCIL
 Junior High Student Council will be taking up items for the Glory House Thanksgiving Food
Drive during the month of October. In the past, a local church has bought frozen turkeys and
side items for the Thanksgiving meal boxes, but, due to reasons associated with covid, the
church is only able to provide the frozen turkeys this year. This means that the Glory House
is in desperate need for help making these boxes and providing meals for families that would
do without during the holiday season if it wasn't for them. If you, your club, or your classes
would like to help donate I know it would be greatly appreciated to the people of our
community! Our goal is to have all of the items by Tuesday, October 26 so that they have
plenty of time to assemble the boxes and get them out before Thanksgiving. Flyers with
details will be posted. Thank you in advance and have a great fall!
