HYMN: Alas! And Did My Savior Bleed LSB 437 Text and tune: Public domain SCRIPTURE READING 1 Peter 3:18-22 18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit, 19in which he went and proclaimed to the spirits in prison, 20because they formerly did not obey, when God’s patience waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through water. 21Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 22who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers having been subjected to him. P O Lord, have mercy on us. C Thanks be to God. P In many and various ways, God spoke to His people of old by the prophets. C But now in these last days, He has spoken to us by His Son. HOMILY 1 PETER 3:18-22 Rev. Harrison Goodman CANTICLE ~ Magnificat pg. 248
OFFERINGS PRAYER pg. 249-251 Litany L For the peace from above and for our salvation, let us pray to the Lord: C Lord, have mercy. L For the peace of the whole world, for the well-being of the Church of God, and for the unity of all, let us pray to the Lord: C Lord, have mercy. L For this holy house and for all who offer here their worship and praise, let us pray to the Lord: C Lord, have mercy. L For Matthew our synodical president, and Michael our district president, for all pastors in Christ, for all servants of the Church, and for all the people, let us pray to the Lord: C Lord, have mercy. L For Joe our president and Greg our governor, for all public servants, for the government and those who protect us, that they may be upheld and strengthened in every good deed, let us pray to the Lord: C Lord, have mercy. L For those who work to bring peace, justice, health, and protection in this and every place, let us pray to the Lord: C Lord, have mercy. L For those who bring offerings, those who do good works in this congregation, those who toil, those who sing, and all the people here present who await from the Lord great and abundant mercy, let us pray to the Lord: C Lord, have mercy. L For favorable weather, for an abundance of the fruits of the earth, and for peaceful times, let us pray to the Lord: C Lord, have mercy. L For our deliverance from all affliction, wrath, danger, and need, let us pray to the Lord: C Lord, have mercy. L For . . . (prayers of the congregation) . . . let us pray to the Lord: C Lord, have mercy. The prayers then continue:
Silence for individual prayer may follow. COLLECT FOR PEACE pg. 251 L Lord Jesus Christ, we implore You to hear our prayers and to lighten the darkness of our hearts by Your gracious visitation; for You live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. LORD’S PRAYER pg. 251 L Taught by our Lord and trusting in His promises, we are bold to pray: C Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen. BENEDICAMUS pg. 252 BENEDICTION CLOSING HYMN: The Day Thou Gavest LSB 886
