MEMBERS’ PLAYING RIGHTS FULL: All rights and privileges – the only members to hold official positions. WEEKDAY: Play on weekdays only, excluding Tuesday until 3.30 p.m. INTERMEDIATE: Players aged 25 to 30 years. May play in Saturday competitions. JUNIOR: Players who have left school and are under 25 years of age whose rights and privileges will be determined by the Committee. Players may play in Saturday competi- tions. In the event of a full draw they will be placed in the morning field. SCHOOLPUPILS: (attending primary, intermediate and second- ary school): Play Monday to Friday and Sunday and give way to Senior Members at all times. School pupils may make application to play in Saturday competitions, and if approved will be liable for a Junior Subscription. SUMMER & WINTER: Unable to play in club’s match play and stroke play championships. Otherwise full playing rights. NON PLAYING: No right. COUNTRY: Must be full playing members of another club and reside no closer than 50 kilometres to the Taieri Golf Club. Unable to play in club champs or other events as the Committee may determine. 9 HOLE PLAYING RIGHTS: Play 9 holes only. CLUB REGULATIONS 1. The Match Committee shall be the “Committee in Charge” of all Club competitions. 2. All competitions shall be conducted and played in accordance with the Rules of Golf and the Local Rules 2
and other regulations of the Club. Local Rules are written on the back of score cards and temporary variations are posted on the notice board at the first tee 3. Players shall make themselves conversant with the Rules of Golf by studying the Book of Rules which is available to each member – apply Manager. 4. The Committee reserves the right to alter entrance fees and conditions if found necessary. 5. All matches and rounds shall be played on the dates specified in the programme. 6. Matches may be played prior to or the day after such dates by mutual agreement and with consent of the Match Committee. 7. In the case of halved matches, the players shall continue from stipulated round (tee where match started) until one or other side shall have gained a hole, then the match shall be won. If the match is on handicap strokes shall continue to be taken at the same holes as in the first round. 8. In all competitions players play on their handicap of the day. Without an official handicap no player may participate in any Club competition. 9. Ties in all competitions, except match play and trophy events, shall be decided on count back. 10. In any final either player or side may request the Committee to provide an umpire. 11. All disputes must be submitted to the Match Committee (whose decision shall be final) immediately after the round. 12. No card for Club competition will be accepted unless it is signed by both player and markers, with competitor’s name and handicap. Each competitor has a separate card unless in a combined competition when play and partner score on the one card. 13. Torn or otherwise mutilated cards will not be accepted. 14. Grades will be determined by the Match Committee in accordance with the number of players entered. 3
GENERAL REGULATIONS 1. Dress Code - to avoid any embarassment, we ask you note the club's dress code. Players are asked to be neatly attired when playing the course and in the clubhouse. Examples of dress considered inappropriate are beach wear, football wear and jandals. The President, Golf Shop or Club Captain has the right to refuse players who do not meet an acceptable dress standard. 2. Children, unless members or accompanied by members, are not allowed on the course. 3. Members are insured against damage to Third Party Property. Please contact Manager immediately if you are responsible for any such damage. 4. Dogs are not permitted on the course. 5. Practice is not permitted on any part of the course except the practice area. Also see Golf Rule No.7. 6. Players must not, at any time, move or interfere with the sprinklers on greens and tees. 7. All players must give way to the greenkeeping staff at all times. 8. For fair handicapping, ALL cards MUST be returned. Handicappers have power to arbitrarily reduce or increase handicaps. 9. Golf carts are available for use on all club days. Use of a golf cart for a 36 hole final will require production of a medical certificate or the discretion of the match committee. 4
MAIN EVENTS AND CONDITIONS All Match Play rounds in this section MUST be played on the day set down in the calendar and a result posted on the appropriate sheet on the Notice Board. Should this not be done, BOTH parties will be disqualified. (Matches may be played prior to such dates by mutual agreement and with the consent of the Match Committee.) In the event of exceptional weather conditions the Match Committee has the right to alter dates of play. All players entering the main Club events must have a handicap as laid down in the N.Z.G.A. handbook for handicapping. CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS: One qualifying round. Sixteen players to qualify in each grade. All finals except Junior B will be played over 36 Holes. In the final of the Championships an Umpire will be provided by the Committee. The Committee reserves the right to alter grades. Senior A Section - is top 16 gross scores for the one round of qualifying in the 0 – 9 handicap section. Senior B Section - is the first round losers only from the 16 qualifiers in the 0 – 9 section. If there is not 16 qualifiers in the Senior A section there will be no Senior B section. Burrell Cup - Stableford round. Scoular Cup – Medal round. Best nett score. Fair-Lee Cup – 36 holes nett. Played over two medal rounds. Players to play on their handicap of the day. Festival Cup - Combined Stableford, own partners. Bennett Cup – Four-ball best-ball, own partners, match play over 18 holes. Final over 36 holes. Jack Adamson Memorial Trophy – 18 holes, teams of three event, 3 nett scores counting. 5
*Fraser Blackie Memorial Trophy – 4BBB and Medal over 36 holes, drawn partners. Veterans’ Trophy – Played in conjunction with a medal round as set out in the programme. Age to qualify 50 years. Saddle Hill Cup – Played in conjunction with a medal round. Stroke Play Championships – Played over 3 rounds of stroke play. Best 2 scores of 3 to be counted. Divisions will be as for club championships. *Single Knock-Out – Single knock-out on handicap over 18 holes. *Four-ball Knockout – Drawn partners. Best-ball match play over 18 holes on handicap. Mitchell Rosebowl – Mixed Foursomes, Australian Stableford over 18 holes, partners drawn, Limited to Taieri Women and Men Club members. Handicap allowance half aggregate handicap of each pair. Played on opening day. Roberts Cup – Mixed Foursomes, medal over 18 holes, select own partners. Cup can be only won by Women and Men members of the Taieri Club. Handicap allowance half aggregate handicap of each pair. Terry Smith Cup – Mixed Foursomes, Australian Stableford over 18 holes for husband and wife club members. Played in conjunction with Club Mixed Foursomes. Handicap allowance half aggregate handicap of each pair. Taieri Mixed Salver – Canadian Mixed Foursomes, Australian Stableford over 18 holes. Select own partners. Salver can only be won by Women and Men members of the Taieri Club. Handicap allowance two-fifths aggregate handicap of each pair. 6
*Frank Kean Challenge Cup – (Wednesday competition) – Stableford competition to be played first Wednesday of each month February to November, 6 best cards. Age limit of 50 plus will apply. * Late entries accepted at discretion of the Match Committee Coughlan Cup – Mixed Foursomes, Australian Stableford over 18 holes. Drawn partners. Limited to Women and Men members of the Taieri Club. Played on closing day. Handicap half aggregate of handicap of each pair. Lucas Cup – Played on Women’s Opening Day, Foursomes, drawn partners. Sinclair Cup – Parent and child four-ball best-ball Stableford Clog Cup – Played in conjunction with a monthly stroke. Best nett over field. Morshuis Plate – Mixed Foursome medal over 18 holes. ANZAC CUP – Mixed Foursomes, Stableford To qualify for any of the above trophies, participants must be members of the Taieri Golf Club. TROPHIES FOR PRINCIPAL CLUB COMPETITIONS Trophies to winners of the following competitions will be presented at the conclusion of the day’s play: Scoular Cup, Fair-Lee Cup, Single Knock-out, Four-ball Knock-out, Clog Cup, Festival Cup, Bennett Cup, Jack Adamson Memorial Trophy, Fraser Blackie Memorial Trophy, Burrell Cup, Mitchell Rosebowl, Roberts Cup, 7
Terry Smith Cup, Veterans, Lucas Cup, Coughlan Cup, Morshuis Plate, Saddle Hill Cup, Sinclair Cup, Anzac Cup, Frank Kean Cup. INTER-CLUB MATCHES During the year several inter-club fixtures will be held and full members are eligible to offer themselves for selection. Entry sheets will be posted on the Club notice board some three weeks prior to the fixture. Highfield at Taieri Highfield at Highfield Toko at Taieri or Toko (alternate years) SATURDAY COMPETITIONS Entry sheets are posted in the men’s locker rooms two weeks in advance. Post entries are available at the Golf Shop from Tuesday onwards. Draw is published in the Otago Daily Times on Thursday and on website www.taierigolf.co.nz. Copies of the draw are posted in the men’s locker room and at the Golf Shop, who are responsible for changes and additions. All members must report at least five minutes before start time. 8
RECIPROCAL PLAYING RIGHTS Reciprocal Rights have been arranged with the following clubs: Highfield – Timaru Coringa – Christchurch Green Acres – Invercargill Harewood – Christchurch Waimairi Beach - Christchurch Full members wishing to play at these clubs will, on production of their current membership card, be able to play without the payment of green fees. Weekday members will be accorded the same playing privileges as they enjoy at Taieri. Members are asked to contact the Secretary/Manager, or a member of the Committee of the club they are visiting before playing. HOLE-IN-ONE INSURANCE Players who have a hole in one in any recognised competition at home or away will, upon receipt of the player’s card, have the ball mounted and receive payment to be able to shout the playing four a drink. The Committee recommends that there be absolutely no expectation of general “shouting”. GUIDE FOR ALL MEMBERS 1. The etiquette of golf, as printed in the “Rules of Golf” shall be observed at all times. 2. Always replace divots, and repair surface of bunkers and pitchmarks on greens. 3. Watch flight or partner’s drive and note where they finish. 4. Remain motionless and silent when others are preparing to hit. 5. When attending the flag keep your feet as far from the hole as possible. 9
6. Do not mark the card on the green – wait until your are on the next tee. 7. Keep up with the field – if you cannot, then call approaching players through. Once called through, wait until they are out of range before resuming play. 8. Please keep your course tidy. COMPLAINTS The Committee will deal with any complaint lodged in writing with the Manager. Verbal complaints will NOT be considered. DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES 1. Each year the Committee shall appoint a Disciplinary Committee of three member. 2. In the event of a written complaint about a member’s conduct having been received, the Club’s elected committee shall: a) have the power to reprimand and /or warn members for first offences or minor misdemeanours; or b) not later than 14 days after receipt of a complaint, write to the offending member, I. advising of the complaint and stating that a hearing of the Disciplinary Committee has been convened at a time and place not later than 7 days after the date of the letter to consider the complaint and the member’s position and make a decision as to what action should be taken: 10
II. stating that the offending member is entitled to appear at the hearing and to present any relevant material orally or written, personally, or by a representative. 3. The disciplinary Committee shall consider the complaint and the offending member’s position, and make a decision as to what action should be taken. 4. The decision of the Disciplinary Committee shall be informed to the offending member in writing. 5. The decision and the reason for it shall be informed to the OPGA and the NZGA should any disciplinary action taken extend beyond the Taieri Golf Club. Right of Appeal 6. There shall be a right of appeal against decisions of a Disciplinary Committee as follows: a) In matters relating to disciplinary action within the Taieri Golf Club: I. The club’s Committee shall appoint an Appeal Committee of 3 persons. No person will have been a member of the Disciplinary Committee first involved in the incident. II. The procedures for hearing a formal appeal will be as determined by the Appeals Committee from time to time. III. The decision of the Appeals Committee shall be final. b) In matters relating to disciplinary action taken that extends beyond the Taieri Golf Club, any appeal shall be referred to the Otago Provincial Golf Association. 11
VISITORS Visitors must be introduced to the Club Captain or President. Arrangements for Saturday play must be made with the Captain prior to the day of play. Visitors must be accompanied by a Club Member on the course. HANDICAPS New Players: To obtain a handicap a player must submit five cards with not less than 13 holes played. Previous Player Recommencing: Will be handicapped on previous exact (hcp) prior to 31 August 2000 or last hcp index if played since 1 September 2000. 12
YOUR CLUB You have been accepted into your Club and are now a working part of it. At the outset, don’t believe you have only joined to play golf. As every member assumes responsibilities immediately you are admitted, you will find that you have office bearers, who generously give their time and energy so that you can play and enjoy your game. Be appreciative of them; do anything you can to make their work as easy as possible; be punctual; willing to abide by their decisions; support all social functions and such-like organised for the good of the club and your own enjoyment. The cost of maintaining your Club in ever exercising the thoughts of your office bearers. Without stable and sufficient finance, no club can be successful, so you are earnestly entreated to generously accept your portion of the financial responsibilities and support all revenue returning activities. Never let your Club down, be proud of it and at all times put it before yourself. Do nothing in your actions, words or appearances which will reflect against your Club. Do your part to enhance its reputation so that it be known as a fine Club. 13
GREEN FEE PLAYERS Casual green fee played will not be accepted on Saturdays until all competition players have clear No. 1 starting hole. Special rates for a period of a week or longer are available on application to the Manager.
