Currently, all projects are being reviewed by the DOTs to determine if each project is considered fundable according to the stipulations of each funding source. The next step will be for DS Leadership to score the projects, which will also be done online through the portal. 5. 2021 Work Plan Prioritization a. Effective Public Engagement Programs b. Meaningful Safety Analysis c. Robust Law Enforcement Programs This will be a standing agenda item to help keep track of the priorities areas as voted by Destination Safe members. Education and Data Task Team, are focusing on the first two priority items, but would like input for “Robust Law Enforcement Programs.” Operation Impact already serves as a way for regional LE agencies to discuss ongoing efforts, so Amanda proposed a liaison that can help share information between the Operation Impact and Destination Safe. Jason Petersen shared that Sgt. Steve Boles from Independence PD is the current chair of Operation Impact. Amanda will reach out to discuss how to best coordinate efforts. 6. Regional Events List a. Survey Monkey Information Form b. Trello Event List Amanda shared that the Public Information and Education team worked to determine a way in which regional events could be shared among Destination Safe members. The goal is that many of our members attend or are aware of various events that others might also want to attend. Such events might include conferences, trainings, or public events where others might like to share their own information, like as a vendor. To upload event information, use the Survey Monkey link and add as much detail and information as possible. Those responses will then get pushed to the Trello Event List, which has events organized by month. If you have any questions or ideas, please let Amanda know. 7. Other Business Derek Olsen- MoDOT has determined that all marketing materials (videos, flyers, etc.) created with MoDOT funding will need to be reviewed by the MoDOT Central Office before it can be distributed. FY2021-2022 projects will be informed of more details in their contract agreements. For any questions, please contact Derek at Derek.Olson@modot.mo.gov. Jen Jordan Spence- Shared information on a “Board Challenge” contest from All Traffic Solutions. The challenge involves taking a picture of a sign and share it on their Facebook page. Whoever gets the most “likes” will receive a free board. More information can be found on this flyer. Susan Cohen- There is a possible bill in Kansas that will increase the penalty for drivers who go the wrong way and/or flee police. Susan mentioned that the most likely populations to do this are those who are impaired but also older drivers, who are less aware of their surroundings. Susan wanted to make everyone aware of the possible negative impact of this bill. Special Accommodations: Please notify the Mid-America Regional Council at (816) 474-4240 at least 48 hours in advance if you require special accommodations to attend this meeting (i.e., qualified interpreter, large print, reader, hearing assistance). Sherri Miller- Missouri has a possible bill that would make alcohol orders and deliveries possible. The concern is what measures are being done to ensure underage youth are not able to order alcohol. The bill is Missouri HB 547. Alex Rotenberry- MARC will be working to update the safety scoring criteria for the transportation sections of the 2022 suballocated funding projects in the region, such as trails, pedestrian and bicycle facilities. Also, May is Bicycle Month. MARC will be campaigning information regarding safe bicycle awareness both as recreation and a means of transportation. John Miller- With conversation of returning to in-person meetings, John mentioned that his office might not permit in-person meetings in the near future. Amanda mentioned that she is aware that many agencies have been able to attend meetings they wouldn’t normally because of the virtual setting, so she wants to keep that in mind as we move forward. Amanda reiterated that MARC has no plans yet for when meetings will return to in-person, but she will keep options in mind as things progress. 2021 Destination Safe Team Meeting Dates DS PI&E Team Destination Safe Leadership DS Data Task Team 10:30am-11:30am Team 9am-10:30am 9am-10:30am 1/12/21 Virtual 12/1/2020 Virtual 1/27/21 Virtual 3/9/21 Virtual 2/2/21 Virtual 3/31/21 Virtual 5/20/21 Virtual 4/6/21 Virtual 5/26/21 Virtual 7/22/21 Virtual 6/1/21 Virtual 7/28/21 TBD 9/21 TBD 8/3/21 TBD 9/29/21 TBD 11/21 TBD 10/5/21 TBD 11/17/21 TBD 12/7/21 TBD Special Accommodations: Please notify the Mid-America Regional Council at (816) 474-4240 at least 48 hours in advance if you require special accommodations to attend this meeting (i.e., qualified interpreter, large print, reader, hearing assistance).
