When to apply? When should I make my application? During the fall term… 1. In the last year of your BBA 2. In the first year of your MSc* *Warning: Students who began their MS program in Winter 2021 are no longer eligible to compete in the regular FRQNT or FRQSC Master’s competitions in Fall 2021. 4

Eligibility rules SSHRC / NSERC 1. Be registered in a research master program (thesis stream) or intend to do it 2. Be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident on the closing date (December 1st) 3. Be enrolled in your MSc program for a maximum of 12 months as of December 31, 2021 4. Never received a CGS M scholarship 5. Have a first-class average (3,7/4,3) for each of the last two years of study (full-time or equivalent) 17
Eligibility rules FRQSC / FRQNT 1. Be registered in a research master program (thesis stream) or intend to do it 2. Have obtained a minimum grade point average of 3.55 for the FRQNT and 3.7/4.3 for the FRQSC in their undergraduate studies 3. Have been enrolled at a Québec university on a full-time basis (or equivalent) for at least 2 of the 3 terms prior to the competition deadline (F20, W21 or S21) OR have a valid RAMQ card or proof of eligibility for RAMQ 4. Have been enrolled in the master's program for which they are applying for the scholarship for no more than 3 full-time terms (1 year), as of May 1, 2022. 5. No funding can be granted after the sixth term 18 of study at the master's level.

WEIGHTING Academic Excellence: - Academic record (first-class average) / Relative standing (if available) - Scholarships and awards held 50% - Duration of previous studies - Type of program and courses pursued - Course load Research Potential: - Quality and originality of contributions to research and development - Relevance of work experience and academic training to field of proposed research - Significance, feasibility and merit of proposed research 30% - Judgment and ability to think critically - Ability to apply skills and knowledge - Initiative and autonomy - Research experience and achievements Personal Characteris-tics / Inter- personal Skills: - Work experience and leadership experience - Project management including organizing conferences and meetings - Ability or potential to communicate theoretical, technical and/or scientific concepts 20% clearly and logically in written and oral formats - Involvement in academic life - Volunteerism/community outreach 20
FRQSC and FRQNT Evaluation Criteria FRQSC / FRQNT CRITERIA (M.SC.) WEIGHTING Academic record: - Transcripts - Honours (awards, distinctions and scholarships) 30% - Applicant’s ability to present his or her background in an integrated manner (relationship between experiences and interests and career and education choices, trajectory, etc.) Research interest and potential: - Relevant experience (participation in research projects, training internships, assistantships, etc.) - Scientific achievements (conferences, presentations, publications, etc.) 50% - Proposed research (originality, clarity and coherence of the research problem, relevance of the methodology, feasibility and, if applicable quality of supervision) Social mobilization: - Ability to facilitate dialogue between science and society (outreach activities or participation in events intended for the general public) - Capacity for engagement (volunteering, community projects, civic and non-profit 15% involvement, event organization, etc.) - Consideration of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including equity, diversity and inclusion* General presentation of the application (spelling, clarity, quality of attachments, etc.) 5% 21
Application submission The project… The project you are presenting does not need to be the project you will actually achieve. The goal is to demonstrate your potential in search, that's all! • Your teachers should help you (or the specialization academic advisors) • Examples of research projects available on the schorlarships’ web page, tools for applications section • Attend the scholarship preparation workshop (September 7 and 8, 2021)

1. Accelerate Program
Accelerate Program – Foster collaborative research [Web] Projects are defined in advance (by the company) and are divided into “block". 1 block = • 4-6 months of work • $15,000 paid for half and half by Mitacs and the partner organization. Per block, a minimum of $10,000** goes to the student + $ 5,000 in flex funds Interns can undertake multiple modules • Master's degree: up to 24 months • Doctorate: up to 48 months • Postdoc: up to 36 months mitacs.ca | 34

Globalink Research Award (GRA) Program – International research experience [web] • Research internship without private partner (with foreign universities already partner of Mitacs) • $6,000 for 3 to 6 months. • Requests accepted at any time (12 weeks for evaluation) • Foreign students without permanent residence: eligible, but cannot return to their country of origin mitacs.ca | 38
