Market Study Report 2021 Artificial Intelligence Trends at Enterprise Organizations Spring 2021 Prepared: by Kazzcade Market Research Team
Impact of AI: Transforming Businesses Artificial Intelligence reaches beyond sci-fi movies and obscure futuristic novels. The technology is becoming crucial for every business, and is a key part of creating a better and more secure infrastructure. We are only beginning to see the ways in which Artificial Intelligence will affect our future, including the way we do business. The COVID-19 pandemic has made the need for AI clearer than ever, and yet provides increased challenges in implementation. In recent months, Kazzcade reached out to technology decision makers at a variety of enterprise companies throughout the United States. The goal of this study was to gather insight on the priorities and challenges presented to IT professionals in 2021 and beyond. Over 300 technology professionals responded. They were key decision-makers in their firms, with responsibilities covering IT architecture, software, and all computing activity for their companies. Key findings of the study included: • 74% of businesses currently use AI in their businesses • 20% said cyber analytics were an important focus in growing their infrastructure • 11% are migrating toward more cloud-based storage • 14% said that support and security are their priorities for technological infrastructure • 26% of businesses did not have any IT infrastructure at all. • For businesses that did have AI platforms, the most popular was Microsoft Azure Machine Learning Studio, which 15% of respondents had. 11% had Learning Engine, 8% had Cortana, and 6% had Watson. Does your firm currently use AI to address any of these areas? Fraud Detection 15% N/A Phone or Chatbots 21% 14% 13% Referencing Data 25% 13% Other Entries Infrastructure, Solutions & Services Kazzcade.com
Impact of AI: Transforming Businesses Needs moving forward Database management and wireless networking (and the security it entails) are two of the most crucial parts of IT. They are also places where Artificial Intelligence is making great strides to increase productivity, particularly after the pandemic has changed the American workforce. Below is more information on how database management and security in wireless networking can be supported through Artificial Intelligence. Database Management Regardless of how a business uses its database, the issues of security and backup are of utmost importance. Artificial Intelligence provides opportunities to ensure that data is properly maintained, stored, and protected. Part of AI’s ability to manage databases comes through machine learning, which allows the software storing the data to learn algorithms to predict patterns based on sample data. This early advancement in artificial intelligence is still in use and being developed. The COVID-19 pandemic increased demand on the need for machine learning, and put more pressure on AI than ever before. As people worked from home, tried to access things remotely, and scrambled to adjust to a world that changed seemingly overnight, many AIs had unexpected behaviors. This is called “Drift,” and it happens when, despite the algorithms AI is supposed to predict, it essentially goes rogue. For many firms, this added additional stress. Which of the following are an immediate area of focus in your environment? Automation 16% Analytics Cyber Support / Security 20% 14% 12% Back up / Growth 27% 11% Cloud Migration Other Entries Kazzcade.com
Impact of AI: Transforming Businesses AI and machine learning tap directly into consumer concerns about not having the internal talent to implement new IT infrastructure, which 16% of firms cited as a problem in our study. Preventing Drift and programming databases to respond to heavier work flow and additional types of data will prove crucial to moving forward with technology in countless workplaces throughout the country. Database management became particularly essential in healthcare systems. As hospitals and doctor’s offices became overloaded, both with COVID patients and other health problems exacerbated due to stress, many databases were not able to handle the workflow effectively. This is a prime example of how important it is to have a data management system operated by machine learning that is much more risk-averse. Does your organization use any of these AI platforms? Microsoft Azure Learning Studio N/A 15% 26% Learning Engine 11% 8% Cortana 6% 34% IBM Watson Other Entries Kazzcade.com
Impact of AI: Transforming Businesses Wireless Networking Business was done over email, through video, on mobile phones, and in chatting on various platforms long before the pandemic hit. But when confronted with COVID, suddenly the vast majority of work was being done through wireless platforms. Employees used their home networks to transfer what might have been secure information, and there were extensive data and security breaches. There is no time for a learning curve with wireless networking; once security is tampered with, workers are immediately forced to do damage control. Artificial Intelligence has been working its way into wireless networking for some time. Its existence allowed for the development of 5G networks, among many other advancements. Even before the pandemic, virtual support lines were utilizing wireless networks to transmit secure information. 32% of surveyed businesses stated that security is where they have felt the most pressure on their infrastructure in the past year, and was also where they need to spend more money for an increase. As with data management, wireless networking has become crucial and used in ways never dreamed of before by the masses. And security breaches happen often. Artificial Intelligence is being used in even more complex ways, including, notably, for virtual assistants to support telehealth. Given the intensity of HIPAA laws and secure payment processing, this was a significant step forward in the capability of AI to enhance wireless networking. Conclusion While Artificial Intelligence was once an obscure need for very specific kinds of businesses, it can now be of assistance to just about any type of firm. Firms are seeing that need increase as they navigate improving their businesses in light of the pandemic and other fast-approaching changes. Real-world use of the technology is becoming very widespread. This will not be without its challenges, but those challenges will need to be overcome in order to be prepared for the future. Part of this preparation will be updating and adapting AI for numerous skills sets and industries. There are low-code and even no-code methods that are being developed, which addresses the concern many firms had about not having the infrastructure or talent to implement strong AI. This will be a key part of ensuring that Artificial Intelligence can serve everyone and continue to be innovated. Kazzcade.com
