MARINE THEATRE APRIL TO JUNE 2019 PROGRAMME CINEMA MUSIC THEATRE SCREENINGS COMEDY
WELCOME

Every programme we produce makes me excited, but this one feels particularly
special. It includes our anniversary celebrations—Marine Theatre The First
125 Years. A complimentary film screening, a parade through the town, and a
hilarious magic show—it’s all here. The culmination is a special community play
currently being written by our patron Andrew Rattenbury, who—as many of you
will know—is a screenwriter for many television programmes.

As well as coming to these events, we’re inviting you all to ‘Adopt A Year’. For
£125 you can pick a year from our history, get some fantastic things, and help us
to provide culture for all.

We’ve been at the centre of Lyme Regis’s social life and culture throughout our
history. James Cagney is rumoured to have performed during the war. Bands
such as The Troggs, Fleetwood Mac and Status Quo played here in the 60s and
70s. More recently we’ve welcomed This Is The Kit and Tom Allen, and Sir Ian
McKellen visits in July.

In the 30s we were a cinema, and this season we are expanding the film
programme to include current titles and some specially priced children’s films.

With warmer weather on its way, we’re very pleased to welcome two exceptional
outdoor theatre shows—a comic version of Much Ado About Nothing by the
HandleBards and Miracle Theatre’s new production.

I hope you can join us in celebrating the rich history of the Marine, while
looking forward to more fun times in the future.
