Experiencing It All on a Single Inspiring Journey It is my pleasure to introduce our Wings Over the World journeys for the fall of 2019 and the spring of 2020. Three all-new journeys make their debut, exploring Southern Africa, Northern Europe and the Middle East, for a total of eight incomparable adventures by private air. By linking each stop on your itinerary with privately chartered flights, these journeys offer a more immersive travel experience, saving many hours over land-based transfers and capturing the sense of enriching, unhurried discovery that is an A&K hallmark. You may wish to embrace the glories of Israel, Jordan and Egypt, exploring all of the key sites in the region in less than two weeks; or discover both Spain and Morocco, two countries with long-intertwined histories yet rarely visited together. Another of my favorites, Wings Over China, features stays at three truly extraordinary Peninsula Hotels — prime examples of the exclusive luxury properties, handpicked by A&K experts, included on every Wings Over the World itinerary. Whichever journey you choose, we have now added our remarkable Design Your Day® feature to a select day of your itinerary, giving you the flexibility to customize your travel experience with a diverse choice of expertly planned sightseeing activities. I invite you to select the journey that inspires you most, and let your travel dreams take wing. The Advantages of Local Access & a Global Presence Abercrombie & Kent takes you to the heart of your destination. Why Local Access Matters Wings Over the World journeys offer you unfettered access to the authentic heart and soul of a place — to people and sites far beyond the reach of the average traveller. It’s what we pride ourselves in delivering on every journey we create, whether to the world’s most iconic or faraway destinations. Resident Tour Directors with Deep Local Ties Our Resident Tour Directors have lived for decades, or even their entire lives, in the places you visit, and offer you insights into culture, history and wildlife that only a local can. Overseeing your entire journey, they accompany you every day, sharing a beyond-the- guidebook understanding of daily life that stems from their own genuine curiosity, and introducing you to everything from temples in their best light to wild savannas at their most lively hour. The result is a journey that reveals the real spirit of a place, connecting you to the people, places and wildlife you encounter in a way you’ll never forget. An Unmatched Global Presence We work tirelessly to design experiences you won’t find anywhere else and provide the most robust tour operator support network — over 55 offices in more than 30 countries around the world. We orchestrate your journey with precision and flexibility down to the last detail, from the seamless flow of your itinerary to the prompt response to an unanticipated request. Safety You Can Trust Your well-being and safety are always our first priorities. Our global presence allows us to keep our finger on the pulse of local dynamics and to manage your safety and security. Should a situation arise, A&K has the resources at the ready to allow you to safely continue on your journey. 80 0 323 7308 | ABERCROMBIEKENT.COM 3
Small Group Sizes that Make More Possible From destinations to accommodations, go beyond the reach of larger groups. Ideal Group Sizes With several Wings Over the World journeys limited to as few as 12, 13 or 14 guests — and none with more than 18 — A&K offers you exclusive insider access opportunities only available to an intimate group of like-minded travellers. From a curator-led museum visit to dinner with a local family in their own home, the small group size of these extraordinary adventures enhances your travel experience. Simply the Best Hotels, Period When considering a hotel, our experts look at more than just the rooms. We select only the most remarkable accommodations — often a Condé Nast Traveler Gold List or Travel + Leisure World’s Best hotel — combining superior service, local character and unanticipated luxuries that are synonymous with five-star style. Here again, the benefits of our small group sizes come into play, allowing us to select one-of-a-kind locations close to the places you most dream of seeing and from among the region’s best properties. Rarely available to larger groups, they may be historically iconic, coveted high-design, or supremely located at the edge of the wild, such as Lewa Wilderness, an intimate family-owned lodge in Kenya’s safari country that features just nine guest cottages. More One-on-One Time with Your Resident Tour Director and Expert Local Guides Travelling in a small group also offers you intangible benefits that can add up to a measurable difference in how you experience your destination. The fewer the guests on any departure, the more time each one has to spend, one on one, with the highly knowledgeable Resident Tour Director and the expert local guides that help make the history and culture of a destination come vividly to life. A&K pioneered luxury small group travel and we’ve applied our more than five decades of experience to make Wings Over the World journeys some of the finest luxury adventures in our entire portfolio. 4 WINGS OVER THE WORLD | 2019–20

TH E B I G FIVE When he founded A&K in East Africa in 1962, Geoffrey Kent began by embracing a credo little known at the time: “Shoot with a camera, not with a gun.” Yet even as he pioneered fundamental changes in safari culture, certain aspects of hunting lore endured, so that even today it is considered quite a feat to encounter the legendary Big Five — lion, leopard, African elephant, rhinoceros and Cape buffalo — all on a single safari. It was these five species that early big-game hunters believed were the most challenging and dangerous to stalk, and thus the most rewarding to capture or kill. Today, our seasoned driver-guides are experts at locating and safely drawing near to these iconic animals, so that you might hear the roar of the lion, sense the compact power of the endangered black rhino, observe family life among the elephants, glimpse the elusive leopard in her treetop realm and marvel at the lumbering Cape buffalo. Featuring numerous game drives through the Masai Mara, the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, Wings Over East Africa offers you the best possible chance to capture them all yourself — if only in your camera’s viewfinder — and head home with your own Big Five tales to tell. 80 0 323 7308 | ABERCROMBIEKENT.COM 11

Scottish missionary and explorer David Livingstone — his senses alive with the immense power, rumbling roar and sparkling beauty of the falls — was moved to name it for his queen, England’s Victoria. While providing a grand spectacle from a distance, Victoria Falls is even more impressive when examined up close on a guided walk with A&K. LEGACY O F TH E M OO RS Spain and Morocco are both nations with rich and colorful histories influenced by many cultures down through centuries — but perhaps by none more so than that of the Moors. The Moorish presence here began when Muslims from eastern North Africa, including Berbers and Arabs, expanded westward and northward across the Mediterranean Sea. In 711 they conquered Visigothic Hispania (the Iberian Peninsula). Later, the Berber Revolt in the Maghreb — a region that includes modern-day Morocco — led to eventual Moorish rule along the southern coast of the Mediterranean. Over the next 700 years, the Moors developed a culture devoted to Islam, while remaining comparatively tolerant of other religions. They built magnificent mosques and impressive seats of learning, including some of the oldest continuously operating universities in the world. Christian Europeans waged a centuries-long war dubbed the Reconquista to reclaim Iberia, which culminated in 1492. Moorish influence later faded across Morocco as well. Today, A&K’s superb Resident Tour Directors and local guides excel at providing visitors with an in-depth understanding of the Moors’ legacy of lyrical architecture, tantalizing cuisine and commitment to education, which still influences life throughout the region. 80 0 323 7308 | ABERCROMBIEKENT.COM 29
