© D. Remazeilles An invitation to continue your visit ....on Bordeaux’s wine trails Wine is everywhere in Bordeaux! Vines even manage to grow in the city centre, on some of the façades in the Place de la Victoire. Here, the production of wine is an ancient tradition, resulting not only in beautiful landscapes with their geometrical patterns of vines on the slopes and plains, but also the villages with their light stone buildings, the aristocratic châteaux and, ultimately, the monuments beside Bordeaux’s quays. Surrounding the city, the vineyards offer an incredible variety of experiences. A veritable feast for all the senses! In the same day, you can go from the cool morning mists of Sauternes to the gentle warmth of the sun setting on the Gironde estuary. Or hear the sound of tractors in the vineyards and the popping of corks in the winery as you take up an invitation to taste the wines. The winery represents the heart of the property, with its fresh yet heady smells of oak barrels, full of promise. It is here that the wines develop flavour, richness and harmony, thanks to the passing of time, the oakiness of the barrels, and the skill of the winemaker. There are nearly 800 properties on Bordeaux’s wine trails that have received “Vignobles & Découvertes” approval. These properties guarantee to offer a warm welcome and high-quality services, introducing visitors to the world of wine, and promoting the natural, cultural and human heritage of their region while practising responsible consumption.
