Brainstorming It was necessary to breakdown the daily commuting needs of the present, narrow it down to basic needs and to check whether all those can be done through Internet as well. Insights This brainstorming is done by listing down different daily needs of people in Why people go out? different situations. Later connecting them and prioritizing them according to the need and effect of that on the life. Finally narrowing down to basic needs.
ONLINE RESEARCH The online research is done on the basis of insights developed from brain- storming. Main objective of the process will be to find out if all those basic needs from the brainstorming can be accomplished easily through Internet or any services at present or near future.

FUTURE HOMES In future POPULATION GROWTH reduces the living space, leaving every one with a small living space. Then it comes to multi functioning furnitures to use the space efficiently and effectively. Multi function furnitures People started showing the need towards multifunction furnitures when they started fighting with space in their one roomed apartment and a need for folding away the unused furniture gave greater space. It was the start of adapting furnitures. Today the interior can be changed in a way that will blow peoples mind with just some clicks and pulls, making it easy to sleep, cook, have a party or even a dinner with friends in a single room apartment. There are limitless benefits to purchasing furniture that’s able to change its functionality. When moving or changing up your decor, having furniture that is able to transform guarantees that you will keep it around for longer. In future, when the space become less and less, multipurpose furniture is the thing to go ahead.

Something like that could definitely come in handy for those dreary desk-bound days Source:www.upworthy.com A joint at knee height provides flexibility, and the shock absorber element behind the lower leg can be locked in stages if the user wishes to sit down. The entire Chairless Chair is attached using straps at the hip, knees and ankles. When sitting, the weight is led directly into the ground, therefore relieving the legs and the lower back. The entire construct only weighs a few kilograms, is easy to put on and is hardly noticeable when walking. The human legs are still responsible for movement – which is an advantage compared to active exoskeletons, which can result in muscle wastage due to “over relief”. The users can sit down anytime, anywhere,. They have freedom of movement and their seating facility is always available. To turn the flexible construct into a stable seat, all you have to do is operate a switch that is attached to the strap. Two FAULHABER motors activate the stop valve in the hy- draulic elements of the shock absorbers, and the support locks in the required position. The lock releases again when the user stands up.
Archelis, A collaboration between Yokohama-based Nitto and Chiba University, is a wearable chair The archelis is to allow you to sit or at least relax your muscles without having to actually sit down. While wearing the device the angle of the knee and ankle can be fixed to allow you to be in a standing position with knees slightly bent without exerting any energy from your legs and without putting pressure on your joints. The pressure is distributed over the shin and thigh reducing muscle fatigue. The wearer can lock the archelis device into a different position for each leg to allow the user to stand how they want for comfort. The designers think that the system would be ideal for doctors who stand for hours at a time in an operating room. Interestingly enough, the wearable chair looks a lot more like a leg brace than anything else. It’s not as though you’d be wearing a backpack that turns into a seat (because that would just be silly). Rather, the chair wraps around your legs and buttocks, providing sup- port that would effectively allow you to sit down whenever you needed to.

THEME- Mechanical This direction the styling is based on mechanical joints and strength members. Through this styling the intend was to show a rough and tough look with heavy and strong supports grounding the weight of the person.
While going somewhere people take time to Dress up But after coming back people just needs to just throw everything off and stay in the comfort of home.

THEME- Organic Inspired from the temperature controlling method used by lizards iving on dessert. Alternate pads will touch the body and when temperature of one set get higher than limit then it retreats and the other set touches the body. Thus maintaining the tempera- ture.
Inspired from bone structures, light and hollow structures for the support and the device that look like alien-ish exo- skel- eton.
Analysis of themes After exploring some styles with these themes, with seats, organic, mechanical, basic string and rods it was getting clear that most of the designs might miss lead the common people as a prosthetic device rather an amazing mobility device. This will be a set back for the product as the message it sends is directly different to its intentions, which is to increase the users health but the message it send is that the user is differently abled !. It was clear that when the styling try to be invisible or even goes as simple as basic structural members, its percived as prosthetics. So the design should shout! Show out that it is there! SEE ME! As the product is to encourage people to go out of their comfort zone and push themselves beyond the boundaries it makes sence that the product is energetic and have an adrenaline rush design language. Thus the theme sporty is selected and taken forward.

But some time it was hard too, self sponsored project, no one to push you or motivate you, as the mind want to start sketching but you are stuck, wandering inside research phase without even knowing about the type of end product. That time a good con- versation with my project guide or friends became real motivation to go ahead. Another challenge was to come up with a form theme. As the project didn’t had any brand or segment selected at first, it was about trying different styles and cross check- ing which direction is best. At times it was challenging as some forms were looking like prosthetics than a wearable “fun“ device which would change the whole intention of the product. Overall, the journey and learning was great. It made me realize my capabilities and limitations which will help me to push hard and better in my future projects.
