LEGENDARY SNOW HILL March to the Emperor Penguins / BROCHURE 2018.19 - Quark Expeditions
PURE POLAR
         ADVENTURE
A VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE WORLD.
This really is the very ends of the earth. The Antarctic Peninsula is
an extreme environment, the last to be explored and understood,
made up of 800 miles (1,287 km) of bedrock islands all joined together
by a giant sheet of ice. Your adventure centers on the northern tip,
where the climate is milder and where most of the research stations
and abandoned whaling stations are located. Ice-covered mountain
peaks soar up to almost 10,000 feet (3 km) and icebergs by the thou-
sands float in calm inlets, catching the brilliant Antarctic sunshine.
The privilege to experience this polar region is as profound as the
          surroundings themselves.
