KFPS NEWS: No. 19 Wednesday 23rd June, 2021 Dear Parents and Friends, Respect, Responsibility, Teamwork and Being Your Best Welcome to the last week of this term! I wish to thank our students, staff and families for making such an effort over this term to work together as one. With the recent snap lockdown and cluster outbreaks around the metropolitan area it is a timely reminder that we cannot become complacent around what we need to do to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe. So enjoy these upcoming holidays, relax and have fun, but please be ever mindful that we must continue to adhere to the COVID restrictions in place. Please remember that the end of the school term is this coming Friday 25th June and ALL STUDENTS will be dismissed at 2:30pm. I wish you all a safe and happy holiday break and look forward to seeing our students return for Term 3 on Monday 12th July at 8:30am. Wakakirri Thank you Many thanks to the students who purchased a hotdog and juice box as part of our Wakakirri fund- raiser yesterday. We were able to raise $425 towards the costs associated with our participation in this national eisteddfod. I wish to thank Mrs Dellow for organising this lunch deal and Rayelene for doing what she does best – cooking for us! Special mention to Kangaroo Flat IGA and Don KR Castlemaine whose generous donations meant that we were able to have greater profits on the day. Please support this local business. Grevillea Breakfast As part of their economics Money Smart unit of study our Grade 3/4 students learnt about needs and wants; the items that are essential versus the little luxuries that we all wish we could have. They worked out the costs for everyday food items and completed a budget. Their celebration of this unit of work was the very well budgeted breakfast at school. I wish to thank our entire Grevil- lea staff who purchased the items and took to the kitchen (with Rayelene’s help) to cook the breakfast. An authentic and successful way to demonstrate their understanding. 100 days of Prep AND Milo’s Birthday Surprise Celebrations Our fabulous Foundation students will celebrate 100 days of being at school! This Friday our foundation students can dress up as 100 year olds in “olden day” gear. OR students may wish to wear “party attire” as we will also be celebrating Milo Monkey’s birthday. The celebration will be catered for so no need to supply food.
Continue…….. Family Learning Partnerships For the past 8 weeks Loddon Campaspe Multicultural Services have been delivering a course, in partnership with our school, to a number of our EAL (English as Additional Language) families. The aim of this 8 week program was to foster the confidence to participate in the school community and to learn skills that support participation. I believe it has been very successful indeed. Principal Awards: Congratulations to last week’s Principal Award winners. Please see their photo in today’s newsletter. This week our Principal Awards have the specific focus on the value of ‘Responsibility”. When you are demonstrating responsibility you are following classroom rules and using your learning time wisely and show others that what you are doing matters.
