BIG NEWS

CALIFORNIA is known for its glorious weather, and the

SUNNY FUTURE people there will soon be taking full advantage of the
                relentless sunshine.

The state is expected to pass a new law saying that California
should get 100% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2045.
Renewable energy is energy coming from sources that never run out,
such as the sun (solar power), wind power and wave power. These
types of energy do not create pollution.

Although California is just one of America’s 50 states, it is more
wealthy than many large countries, so the world will sit up and take
notice if this plan goes ahead.

Many people who care for the environment hope that California
will be an inspiration and show other countries just what is possible.
