I’m thrilled that you’re reading my state’s Visitors’ Directory 2020, which was prepared especially for valued travellers such as yourself. Kedah is indeed Malaysia’s most unique state, and I say that not just because I am the State Secretary but the facts speak for themselves. We have the oldest known civilisational history and archaeological site, Sungai Batu, not just in Malaysia but in all Southeast Asia. And we have a geological landscape and rock formation history of over 500 million years! But more than our fascinating history as an ancient kingdom, Kedah has so many other special heritage features be they natural, cultural, culinary, recreational and more. Even our northern dialect of Malay is unique in the Malay Archipelago. As visitors, you will be mesmerised by our endless wonders. But most of all it is our people, the Kedahans, who are always friendly and ever welcoming to all visitors to partake of our treasures, culture and lifestyle.
