Pioneer Valley pa nt hers The 2021 Panther season featured a lot of adversity starting with a late summer coaching change. In mid-July Coach Beck stepped down. PVHS hired Lompoc defensive coordinator Dustin Davis to lead the Panthers. Short on time and looking to engineer a cultural shift Coach Davis and his staff put together one of the area’s stingiest defenses while the offense struggled to find their rhythm all the while dealing with the struggles of covid and quarantines, as many programs did. Adan Rubalcava led the team on both sides of the ball and was honored with 1st Team All Mountain League FS. Rubalcava led the Panthers in Rushing, Receiving, tackles, played multiple positions on D and even took some snaps at QB. Panther QB Ritchie Robles had a great year considering it was his first year playing football since his freshman year and not starting until a few weeks before the season began. The Panthers had numerous games where they led in most offensive statistical categories yet came up short on the scoreboard including a 455-yard performance in the D6 semifinal game. The Offense’s best performance came in the final minutes of the Quarterfinals needing a score to tie and a score in overtime to win. The OL was led by left tackle Eric Lopez who led the unit in pancake blocks, gave up the fewest sacks and fewest penalties and earned 2nd team honors The Panther Defense anchored the team all season, giving inspiring performances on several occasions and keeping games within reach. Despite learning a new defensive scheme late in the summer, panther defenders played with grit and tenacity all season. Led by the D-line and All League FS Adan Rubalcava the Panther D gave many opponents offenses fits while giving their own offense favorable field position. Newcomer Jacob Velasquez made an instant impact on the D-line from his nose tackle position. His quickness and ability to read blocks caused havoc for opposing offenses and earned him 2nd Team honors. Panthers earning honorable mention include Rudy Mendez- RB, Ritchie Robles-QB, Efren Castro-Line, Jesus Hidalgo-Line, Joshua Hernandez-Line. 6

Paso Robles b e a rc at s The Bearcat Coaching staff is proud of our 2022 Bearcats who won their first league championship since 2017 and had back-to-back winning seasons (5-2 in the spring and 7-4 in the fall). They also made their first playoff appearance since 2017 and had their first playoff win since 2014, upsetting the #6 team in our division in the playoffs. The reason for our success was due to our senior leadership led by Bastiaan Jaureguy #42, the Mountain League Defensive Player of the Year. The offense was led with a strong ground game and the leadership of senior quarterback Trevon Bridewell (1st team all league punter) and Dominic Weber (Offensive Line), and 2nd team offensive lineman Brian Ibarra. The Bearcats had a stout defense led by 1st team all league defensive players Jake Morones (Linebacker) and Brandon Bonham (Defensive Back). Coleton Sullivan (Linebacker) and Kyle Bonham (Defensive Back) serviced the defense and received 2nd team all- league honors. Rounding out the senior leadership was Andrew Olsen (Tight End/DL), Jovanny Reyes (Linebacker), Nate Guerrero (Offensive Line) who all contributed to the success of our season. Thank you seniors and we wish you luck on the next phase of your life, we know you will make your community proud! 8
Santa Maria saint s The Saints finished the 2021 football season with a 2-8 record. Our athletes worked and played incredibly hard throughout the entire season, and we are proud to have 10 of our seniors representing our school at this year’s all-star game. Nick Martinez was a three year varsity player and was vital to the Saints offense as a wide receiver and defense as an outside linebacker. Nick was always battling injury but still led the team in catches and receiving touchdowns and was constantly making plays on defense. Zach Borges and Juluis Booker were two-year varsity players. Having missed time early in the season to become academically eligible, both Zach and Juluis made immediate impacts upon their return to the field. Zach was a deep threat receiver and corner while Booker was a disruptive player on the defensive line. David Placencia was the ultimate utility player for the Saints this past season. Due to injuries David was asked to play RB, WR, QB, Safety and Linebacker and he did so without ever batting an eye. David was the ultimate teammate and always did what was best for the team. Joseph Galindo was another utility player for the Saints this season playing multiple positions on both offense and defense. Joseph is an ultimate competitor and never lets his size define who he was. Galindo thrived as a defensive back, often taking the challenge to guard the opposing team’s best receiver. Salomon Gomez was a two-year varsity player and undoubtedly the toughest player on the team as he anchored the Saints offensive line. He played through multiple injuries this year and never came off the field. He always knew his assignments and was quick to correct his mistakes. Salomon will be attending Sacramento state this fall. Larry Vea was a two-year varsity player and was pivotal player for the Saints offensive line. Larry is a man of few words and let his play do all the talking. Larry was voted team captain this year and was always a team player trying to make everyone around him better every day. Alejandro Castillo was a two-year varsity player primarily playing defensive back. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Alejandro embraced his new position and became true technician. Alejandro was a great leader for the team and always had a great attitude. He will be attending Chico state this fall. Jose Carreon was a two-year varsity player holding it down in the trenches week after week. Jose was a standout defensive lineman for the Saints almost always commanding double teams. Jacob Nava was a two-year varsity player playing outside linebacker and running back. Jacob has the biggest heart and was a true inspiration for the team. Although a knee injury kept him out most of the season, Jacob constantly pushed his teammates to be the best versions of themselves on and off the field. 10

Templeton eagles The 2021 Templeton Eagles were a very young football team. The Eagles started 12 sophomores in route to a 5-5 season. Those sophomores had GREAT leadership from the four young men representing Templeton High School tonight. Jack Wood, Austin Marquart, Kadin Javadi and Harrison Orradre. We could not have asked for better young men to be a part of the FCA All Star Game. Jack Wood led our offense and he was voted the Ocean League Co-Offensive Player of the Year. Jack moved to Templeton just as school was starting and he only got to play in 8 games. He led our team in rushing, with 1022 yards, and receiving. He also was respected by his team mates almost immediately and his outgoing personality was infectious. Jack made a major impact on our program and community is his short time here. Jack also participate in High School Rodeo and team ropes with Kadin Javadi, another FCA all star playing tonight. Austin Marquart is exactly what the phrase “team player” means. He played at least 6 different positions for the Eagles, some games having to change his number, but never hesitated to do what ever he was asked to do. He was a unanimous team captain and received our Eagle of the Year award. Austin will be missed by the coaches and players alike for his leadership and “all in” attitude. Kadin Javadi is a young man of many talents. He played Outside Linebacker and Tight End for the Eagles this past season. He also was our deep snapper on punts and PAT’s. Kadin made our defensive adjustment calls on the field and was given the task of making are coverage changes. While Kadin is an excellent football player, his greatest talent might be in the Rodeo Arena. Kadin is one of the best steer wrestlers in the California High School Rodeo Association. He was the steer wrestling champion at the California High School Rodeo Challenge of Champions in March and also won one round at the Junior NFR in Las Vegas last December. He was able to juggle football, rodeo, and school and did so very successfully. Every team needs a Harrison Orradre. He is one the toughest and hardest playing young men to come through Templeton High School ion the past 15 years. Harrison proves his toughness often as he also participates in High School Rodeo as a saddle bronc rider. He also participates in other rodeo events, but he enjoys the saddle bronc event the most. Harrison didn’t start playing football till his junior year, but proved to be an important part of our program. His ability to play a position where he gave up 80-100 pounds to the person playing across form him was vital in our defensive success. Harrison’s sense of humor and commitment will be missed by the Eagles. Good luck tonight to all of these young men as they represent their team, school and community. 12

One of Tom’s proudest moments on the field was in 2016, when CIF selected him to officiate a State Regional playoff game in Los Angeles. He also officiated Community College football for several years, including working a Bowl Game. Tom was the LPFOA’s Secretary-Treasurer for the past 15 years, and the Secretary-Fee Negotiator for the parent organization of the LPFOA, the Los Padres Officials Association since 2019. His presence on the LPFOA Board of Directors, on the field officiating, and in the classroom has brought the level of officiating to its highest level. Tom was born and raised in Michigan. St. Joseph k night s The St. Joseph Knights finished the 2022 at 4-1 in the Mountain League and took a share of the league championship. They will be represented by eight incredible seniors of which seven will be continuing their playing career at the next level. Travis Royal was a three-sport athlete playing football, baseball, and track. He was also a three-year starter at the Varsity level and also a two time All Mountain League selection. Travis did a tremendous job for the Knights in all three facets of the game where he led the team in receptions and interceptions. He accomplished all this while holding over a 4.0 grade point average. Travis plans on continuing his career at College of the Canyons next fall. Aaron Guggia was a three-year starter on the offensive line which was one of the best in the entire Central Section. Aaron was asked to constantly change positions and was willing to do so for the benefit of the team. Whether it was center, guard, fullback, or defensive tackle, you could bet that Guggia was going to empty the tank when the final whistle was blown. Aaron will continue his academic and athletic goals next year at Allan Hancock College. Andrew Farao had a phenomenal season playing defensive tackle, fullback, and linebacker. Andrew was a huge asset to the defense by taking control of the front line. Andrew was awarded First team All-League and Defensive MVP for the Knights. He was a three-year starter and outside of football Andrew also wrestled and was the runner- up in the heavyweight division at CIF this year. Mac Crisp was a three-year varsity starter at quarterback. Injuries unfortunately plagued his high school career with a broken collarbone and a torn ACL. Regardless of such injuries Mark was nominated a team captain because of his dedication and commitment to his brothers and the program. Mark’s passion for the game and his teammates is unquestionable. Mark plans on going to Cal Poly and is considering walking on. Chris Miller was a two-sport star for the Knights at both football and baseball. If it wasn’t for a drastic season ending leg injury, Chris would have certainly earned an All-League selection. Miller was certainly one of the most electric and dynamic athletes in the central coast and God willing will soon decide where he will demonstrate those special talents this coming Fall. Gage Mussell was a two-way starter for the Knights both at Offensive Tackle and Defensive End. Gage was absolutely relentless on both sides of the ball with a motor that was unmatched. Gage often took the task of going up against talent that was bigger or faster but never once waivered in his effort and drive. Erick Santillan was one of the top defensive players in the area this year. He played every linebacker position and excelled on special teams. Erick was a team captain and was an All-League selection. He will continue his playing career at College of the Sequoias next Fall. Anthony Moreno was a two-year starter and All-League selection at linebacker although he also carried the ball for the Knights, often leaving opposing players laying on their backs wondering what hit them. Moreno was one of the main heart beats of the Knights this past season and was also nominated as a team captain by his peers. Anthony will continue playing next year for the Allen Hancock Bulldogs. 14

Atascadero gr eyhounds As we returned to a “normal” football season last fall, the Greyhounds relied on their senior leaders to remind the young ones what it takes to call yourself a football player. It is an honor to do as such and no other endeavor is quite the same. The 2022 Greyhound FCA all-stars include two team leaders that are second generation Greyhounds that I have had the pleasure of coaching. Clayton Loney (son of former Greyhounds Dan and Tori Loney) was a dominant force for the Hounds on both the offensive and defensive lines. He is a beast in the weightroom and plans on continuing his playing career beyond HS. Jarren Fischer (Justin/Nicole Fischer) did a little bit of everything for us. A jack of all trades, his ability to play wide receiver, slot, quarterback, corner, safety as well as returning punts led to his teammates voting him team MVP. Joining these two are two young men who were leaders in the offseason and in season. Their hard work and dedication allowed them to excel on the field in the fall and earn all-league honors. Aiden Lemoine played receiver, running back and linebacker and possesses a motor that is stuck in high gear. A coach’s dream when it comes to trust and dependability comes to mind. Wade Lyon is a young man who didn’t get to play as much as he’d like his junior year, but worked his tail off in the off-season to not only become a starter, but an all-league player. Atascadero High School would like to thank all the committee members, sponsors and especially FCA for making this game happen year in and year out. 16

Righetti wa r r ior s The Righetti Warrior 2021 Football season was an unforgettable journey that our football family will remember and celebrate for the rest of time. We ultimately won the Division 5 Central Section CIF Championship, the first in our city’s history. Along the journey we learned invaluable lessons about life and about ourselves. Our players will always know that the harder you work and the more you sacrifice, the greater and more satisfying the reward will be. They will not be afraid to work for what they want, and they won’t quit because things get difficult. Our 2022 season was filled with adversity. Covid made our lives, and everybody’s lives scary, confusing and full of uncertainty. We had to stop and start many times, and we really had to be flexible and selfless during the whole experience. Injuries hit us hard and hit us early. Key players on both sides of the ball went down with serious injuries weekly, if not daily. We certainly did not get off to a good start. We were losing close games to really good teams. The injuries made it difficult for us to see the positive growth we were making week to week. We fought so hard, but only won one game during our regular season. It was really difficult to stay positive, but it was our seniors who inspired our whole program and kept us hungry. With no other explanation than an unprecedented (and since revised) change to the playoff format, our team was allowed to compete in the playoffs and we took advantage of our opportunity. We did not, and never will, apologize for playing and beating each opponent we faced in the playoffs. The facts are that The 2022 Righetti Warriors rose up together, persevered and are Champions forever! The following Seniors led us in our journey and we will forever be grateful for their commitment and leadership to our program: Our offensive line featured Darrin Orlick and Malachi Broome; they lined up next to each other and selflessly went to war side-by-side in the trenches on every play. They opened up the holes for guys like Ryan Boivin and Elijah Swanson. Boivin was the undisputed leader of our team and the face of our franchise, while Swanny quietly scored TDs and made an impact that was unmistakable. Elias Martinez was one of the most dominant players in the area. We wanted the ball in his hands as much as we could get it there. When our opponents watched our film their goal was to stop #7, but nobody really could. Cooper Bagby was our other mismatch on the outside. He can truly do it all. He played almost every position on the field (QB,Fullback,WR, Safety) and dominated everywhere we put him. His leadership was also critical to our success. Both Elias and Cooper were impact players on Offense and Defense. Our Defense was our anchor this year. We got better each and every game. Leading our defense was Zach Monighetti. We have not had many players with his combination of intelligence and fierce determination. Zach is 1 of 1, and had our defense ready each week. Joining Zach in the box was Hayden Baichtal and Case Bishop. Hayden, who is playing football at The University of La Verne next year, is tall and fast and came out of nowhere to become a dominant force on our defensive line. He specialized in batting down passes and hawking QBs. Case Bishop played LB and DL and his ruthless style of play drove Olines crazy and inspired his team. Behind them was Elroy Perez. Undersized, but tough as nails, Elroy taught teams that going after the little guy was a huge and uneducated mistake against the Warriors. Elroy made team after team pay for the misjudgement; capping off his Sr. year w/ an INT to seal a State regional win in the playoffs. These young men all made an unforgettable impact on our program. It was their leadership that got us through the tough times and into the arena. They are all outstanding young men with very bright futures. We are so proud to watch them compete and represent Righetti High School in the FCA All-Star Football Game. 18
honorary coach harold “mike” denne Mike was born August 15, 1950 and was the third of four children. He was a military brat as his father was an Air Force Fire Captain. Mike spent most of his teen years living in Europe until his senior year, when they came to Vandenberg Air Force Base and he attended Cabrillo High School. He was the first four sport letterman and played in the first Santa Barbara County Allstar game. After graduating from Cabrillo in 1969, Mike joined the Air Force, spending most of his service time in Okinawa, until he was discharged in 1975. He then continued his education, attending Cal Poly - SLO and receiving a degree in Physical Education. Mike’s coaching career started at Righetti High School, before moving onto Saint Joseph’s High School where he was the head coach from 1979-1989. During his tenure at St. Joe’s, he had two appearances in the CIF semifinals and one in the finals. From 1990-1994, he was the head coach for Allan Hancock College, before moving on to coaching at Cal Poly - SLO. Mike enjoyed golfing and while coaching football at Hancock, he became their golf coach for 25+ years and had numerous athletes become PGA pros. Mike was Coach of the Year in 1987 for Faith Family Football and was also inducted into the St. Joe’s Hall of Fame. He was also a two time winning coach for the County All-Star game. During Mike’s time of teaching and coaching, he became the owner of Elmer’s Bar in Old Orcutt in 1988. Mike enjoyed Jimmy Buffett and being a “Parrot Head” as well as golfing, hunting, traveling and spending time with his son Patrick. 19
Morro Bay p ir ates The 2021-2022 Pirates Football season was one of the most historic seasons in Morro Bay High School history! Led by Head Coach Jake Goossen-Brown (now coaching for Notre Dame High School), the 2021 Pirates, through hard work, player dedication, and leadership by numerous Seniors, accomplished what all who step onto a high school sports field dream of—winning a CIF Championship. For Pirates Football, this was the first time in 26 years the team brought a CIF Title in football home to Morro Bay. Following the CIF Championship win, the Morro Bay Pirates’ magical playoff run continued with a win at the Southern Regional Championship in front of a hometown capacity crowd that broke all previous attendance records, and helped the the Pirates advanced to the State Championship Game—another first in the school’s history and the first team in San Luis County to ever make it that far in football. The Pirates magic fell short in the State Championship game but the players performed well under the pressure of a State final that included freezing temperatures and snow at game time. Pirates will forever hold their heads high after achieving so much in one season comprising 16 weeks of hard work, passion, and teamwork. Pirate Pride is built on players who understand that dedication, sacrifice, team before self, accountability, and high self-standards are what makes a Pirate successful on and off of the field. We are proud to have our players representing the Morro Bay Pirate Football Program at the FCA All-Star Game. Dylan Turner is a three year Varsity Player and a four year football player in Morro Bay. He played RB, WR, LB, Returner, and even a little QB. Dylan was 1st team All League, 1st Team All CIF, and the first Morro Bay player in over 12 years to be named to the All State Team. Dylan has grown so much as a player, leader, and person. His coaches state that they have rarely met a harder working player–his drive and determination is unmatched. His goal is to always outwork the competition and it has paid off. He is also a smart player on the field, making offensive line calls, checks, option routes, due to time spent watching film, being on the board and learning the offense. Dylan was a catalyst who helped turn the Pirates program around and led the run to the championship. As an individual player, he had a remarkable season gaining over 900 yards rushing, and 900 yards receiving, scoring 24 touchdowns and doing all this while playing defense and special teams and overcoming injuries while not missing a game. Dylan will continue his football career at California Lutheran! Christian Merrill is a two-year Varsity player and four year football player for the Pirates at the positions of Receiver and Outside LB. Christian was a Captain this year, 2nd team All League player, First Team All CIF, and All Academic Team. This year was a breakout season for Christian. He was second in receptions and yards this season and that was with missing two games due to injury. His opening touchdown in Taft really helped to set the tone for the rest of that CIF Championship game. Christian grew so much this year as a player, leader, and person. Christain led by example this season, he set the standard of the expectations for all the other players. He was rarely off the field, playing almost every down on offense, defense and special teams. Christian has several offers to continue not only his education but his football career. This is a testament to his work ethic and dedication to both academics and athletics. He has helped set a new standard for Morro Bay Football. Look for him on Saturdays playing for Pacific University in the fall! Alexis Martinez was a two-year Varsity player and he capped off a four year football career at Morro Bay. He was a starting outside linebacker for the Pirates, anchoring the strong side edge. Throughout the season, he was one of our team’s leading tacklers, amassing a total of 116 tackles, which averaged nearly 9 per game. He also contributed an interception and three fumble recoveries. One of his key stops on fourth down at the 1 yard line helped to preserve our victory against League rival Templeton High School. Overall, Alexis had a very good year and his consistent strong defensive play was a key to our overall team success and to our CIF Championship. He also helped out on offense and answered our need for a backup on the offensive line. Alexis has a great attitude, and he’s very coachable. He’s always striving to improve, he consistently knows his assignments, and he is a good, hard-nosed, tough football player that we could rely on. Alexis has had a great four years of high school football here at Morro Bay. For the coaches, it’s been an honor and a joy to coach this young man. Jhosua Gomez was a two year Varsity and 4 year football player. Jhosua overcame a season ending injury his junior year and worked hard to earn a starting spot on the offensive line. He was the anchor and leader of the line. As the season progressed Jhosua was asked to play defensive line where he excelled as well. He was a force to be reckoned with and his presence was felt by every team that we played. Jhosua’s leadership on the offensive line helped to ensure we were able to execute assignments and strategies that helped us to win games later in the season. He specialized in pulling and led the way for big lanes that our running back was able to hit. His pass protection also allowed our QB to throw for over 3,000 yards and 34 touchdowns on the season. He was a protector and enforcer on the field. All the coaches will miss Jhosua and are happy that he is getting one more chance to compete on the grid iron! 20

Cabrillo c onqu istadores Aidan Heath: A Corner and RB for the Conquistadores, Aidan overcame a mid-season foot injury that sidelined him for several weeks and on both sides of the injury his play was outstanding. He scored the first TD for Cabrillo in game 1 against Nordhoff and had an interception in the final game of the season. He also had the longest completion of the season by throwing a halfback pass for almost 50 yards. He was an honorable mention all-league selection and will be attending Colorado State University Pueblo in the fall. Tanner Costa: Tanner was the FS and QB for the 2021 CHS football team. He was able to play through an achilles tendon injury that slowed him in the middle of the season. In his positions on offense and defense, he had large amounts of responsibility and responded with strong leadership and grit. Along with a selection as an honorable mention all-league selection as a FS, Tanner was recognized as the Most Valuable Player on his team. He will be attending a community college on the central coast to begin his path towards a degree in agricultural business. 22

San Luis Obispo tigers The 2021 Tigers made a commitment that they were going to bounce back from the Covid year as strongly as possible. Without a stadium to call home, traveling for every game, they showed grit, resilience, and perseverance as they earned a winning season and their 3rd consecutive playoff berth. With several returning starters, and the newly renovated Holt Field on the SLOHS campus, the future is brighter than ever for the Tigers. SLOHS is represented by 7 players that embody the culture of Tiger Football. They are talented, but even more importantly, they are young people of high character. Rory Devaney was voted in as the top high school football player in SLO County by the Tribune. Rory played inside linebacker, offensive tackle, and long/short snapper for the Tigers. He was ferocious on the field, running sideline to sideline making tackles and disrupting opposing offenses. On top of his accomplishments on the football field, Rory is a national-class discus thrower for the SLOHS Track and Field team. The future is bright for this young man. Gavin Righetti is the last of the Righetti brothers to suit up for the Tigers. He was a steady, reliable contributor in all three phases, playing Tight End on offense and Outside Linebacker on defense. Gavin rarely came off the field for the Tigers. Offensively, Gavin was a physical blocker as well as a big-play receiver from the slot. Defensively, Gavin has a knack for being around the ball. He was the Tigers’ resident “Pick-6 Expert”. Jack Krill has been the steady foot guiding the Tigers special teams units for the last three years. A talented placekicker with great range in the field goal phase, as well as a thundering foot on kickoffs, achieving more touchbacks than anyone else in SLO County over the last three years. Jack was voted in as a captain by his teammates in 2021, which is rather unusual for a specialist. That honor spoke to the respect Jack’s teammates had for him. Blayke Perry is a gifted athlete whose season was cut short by a substantial knee injury. Through determination and hard work, Blayke found himself contributing on the field again in the regular season finale and playoff game for the Tigers. A savvy, athletic QB and talented receiver, Blayke was capable of making big plays at any moment on the field. Anthony Ruelas has been a steady contributor to the Tigers since he arrived on campus as a freshman. Anthony never misses practice. He is as dedicated as any football player ever was. Anthony came into his own in his senior season and found a voice of leadership in the defensive secondary at Safety. Kyle Lodge is a fighter. Kyle batted through his high school career and accepted the challenges as they presented themselves. Through his hard work and willingness to contribute in every way possible to the team, Kyle found himself contributing more on the defensive side of the ball than the offensive side, which was a big change for him. We are extremely proud of the young man that Kyle Lodge is today. Yahir Ochoa Arroyo was a first year football player for the Tigers in 2021. Without much expectations, Yahir solidified himself as the starting Nose Guard for the Tiger Defense. Yahir’s position was a thankless one, often eating up double-teams which allowed our talented linebacking corp to run free and make tackles. We are extremely proud of Yahir for his bravery and dedication, even as a first-year player. 24

Lompoc braves The Braves struggled in the 2021 season. Statistically, they broke several records offensively, but their struggles came on defense. Injuries and inexperience led to several losses late in games. The Braves lost 5 games by a combined 20 points. In 5 games the Braves had the lead late, but they couldn’t get the stop they needed to finish the game. The Lompoc Braves were led by these seniors. Devontae Lauderdale was a two-year letterman that anchored the defensive line. Devontae is a big, physical kid that has the ability to disrupt the run game. Xavier Carpio is a 2nd team all-leaguer and was the most consistent lineman for the Braves. Xavier only gave up one sack all year and was the smartest lineman for the Braves. He made all of the calls for on the O-line. Erasmo Zepeda is another 2-year letterman that played defensive line. Erasmo has a high motor and was one of the Braves better pass rushers. Also, Erasmo contributed on special teams. Andrew Porter played both ways for the Braves. He played some slot receiver and also spelled Sheldon Canley at running back. Furthermore, he started for at corner and was one of the Braves most consistent cover guys. 26

Arroyo Grande eagles The 2021 season saw the Arroyo Grande Eagles battle to a 8-4 overall record, win a share of the Mountain League title and advance to the Quarterfinals of the CIF Playoffs. Leading the way for the Eagles are the 10 Seniors that have been honored as members of the San Luis County squad. The Eagles featured a balanced and explosive offense, led by Mountain League MVP running back Makai Puga. Makai’s ability to break big runs or catch key passes were a big part of the offense. Getting him the ball is 1st team All-Mountain League QB Max Perrett. Max brought accuracy in the passing game as well as quality reads in the run game. Max Wulff earned 2nd team All-Mountain League honors as a wide receiver/tight end. His physical tools allowed him to be a great red zone target and tenacious blocker out on the perimeter. No offense can thrive without outstanding line play. Isaiah Chavez and Bradley Auten provided great leadership and play on the field for the Eagles. For their efforts, Isaiah garnered 1st team and Bradley earned honorable mention All-Mountain League selections. On the defensive side of the ball, the Eagles were a scrappy bunch led by linebackers Kaden Tynes, Danny McKinley, Joe Lopez and defensive lineman Vincent Tafoya. Kaden, named a 1st team All- Mountain league player, excelled as a playmaker in all three phases of the game. Danny, an honorable mention All-Mountain League honoree, used his outstanding speed and mental toughness to be a force on the outside for the Eagles. Joe, a 2nd team All-Mountain League selection, brought toughness and versatility to several positions for the Eagle defense. Vincent used his high motor and relentless pursuit to become a menace of a defensive end, earning 1st team All-Mountain League honors. Excellent special teams play has long been a hallmark of Arroyo Grande football, and 2021 continued that tradition. Kicker William Dawes was the next in a long line of outstanding specialists for the Eagles. His hard work paid off in earning 1st team All-Mountain League honors. These ten seniors have worked very hard over their careers and have left a lasting impression on some of the most unique times in Eagle football. They wanted to finish their high school careers by saying thank you to the teammates, coaches and community supporters that helped them along the way. GO EAGLES!!! 28

Kyle played on both sides of the ball as a Running Back and Defensive Back. He led the team in Rushing Yards averaging 7.1 Yards Per Carry and scored 5 Touchdowns. The Lions headed to the CIF Playoffs, traveling to CCHS and defeating the Crusaders 70-28 in the first round before bowing out to the Lancers of Avalon in the second round.
