High School Diploma or GED, and an Associate’s degree (A.A.) in Business Administration or a

similar role are required. Must have basic accounting skills and experience with payroll
systems. Must have excellent organizational, time management, verbal and written
communication skills. Must be able to foster a team-oriented culture through positive
interactions with members of the Board and all employees. Proficient in office automation
technology, such as fax/copy machine, and personal computers (Microsoft Office Suite &
Google Apps). Must maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license as coop-owned vehicles may be
allowed for certain business travel related purposes.

Work Environment: The duties of this job are performed indoors; sitting long hours using a

PURPOSE
The Learners Today, Leaders Tomorrow Summer Student Work Program at Coastal Electric
Cooperative offers rising seniors a chance to participate as a full-time Coastal employee during
the summer. The program introduces students to career opportunities in the electric cooperative
industry. This is a valuable opportunity for students seeking on-the-job training and expertise to
sharpen their existing skill set and/or field of interest. The successful Summer Student Work
Program has proven time and time again to provide valuable work experience, socialization
opportunities and skill development all while earning a salary.
Job Scope/Program Details

   •   Develop a general knowledge of the Cooperative.
   •   Work with employees in departments such as Engineering and Operations, Human
       Resources, Safety, Customer Service, Marketing and IT performing basic work activities.
   •   Every aspect of the Summer Student Work Program will be closely supervised and
       evaluated by a manager.
   •   Students will be paid $9.00 per hour and may work up to 40 hours per week. Any hours
       worked over 40, within a work week, will be paid at time and half ($13.50 per hour). Work
       schedules will vary depending on the department in which the student is placed. The work
       program is approximately 8 weeks with a preferred start time in June. Schedule: Monday
       through Friday – 7:30a.m. – 5:30 p.m. (may vary based on department and team).
   •   Except required by law, students will not be eligible to receive company issued benefit
       plans.
   •   Students will be provided work shirts and personal protective equipment, if applicable.
       Appropriate jeans or khakis is the dress code for inside positions. Students working in field

   •   All students will be required to present to the management team a final presentation
       covering the projects they were involved in during the work program. Human Resources

       Students will also be engaged in community service projects this summer.
•   Upon completion of the program and verification of acceptance at a college or technical
       school program of their choice, students will be awarded a $500 scholarship.

   •   Be at least 16 years of age.
   •   Complete the 11th grade and have a minimum grade point average of 2.5.
   •   Operate all equipment in a safe and professional manner.

HOURS
Primary Coach- the hours range from 3.5 - 8 hours per week. Hours will vary depending on the

Substitute Coach- the hours range from 3.5 - 5 hours on the third Saturday of each month.
Additional hours may become available should the Primary Coach experience an emergency,
request a day off, or if the Substitute Coach is available to work weekday sessions on a regular
basis.

PAY
Hourly salary begins at a competitive $15/hour for weekday sessions, and $17/hour for weekend
sessions. Increase in pay will be given at the end of each quarter of employment with satisfactory
performance reviews.

EXAMPLE SCHEDULE
The Primary Coach works the first 3 consecutive Saturdays of the month, whereas the Substitute
Coach works the third Saturday each month with the Primary Coach. If a Primary Coach needs to
cancel for either a coach emergency or for inclement weather, a make-up day will be utilized on the
4th Saturday of the month. If your location has filled the Substitute Coach position, then the
Substitute would be on call to cover a Saturday in the case of the Primary Coach experiencing an
emergency situation, illness, or time-off request.
EX: Saturday morning
9:00 a.m. - 2 year olds
9:45 a.m. - 3 year olds
10:45 a.m. - 4 year olds
11:45 a.m. - 4.5-5.5 year olds
