Details:
This program teaches children between the ages of 3 and 5 motor skill-based tasks that will
gradually help build their confidence—all while children have fun at the same time.

Dare County Parks and Recreation Department staff will teach parents and children a variety of
basketball skills, including dribbling/ball handling, passing/catching, running/agility and shooting,
all without the threat of competition or getting hurt.

The parents will then work with their child to develop these skills. This is a great way for parents to
work one on one with their child and to spend quality time together.

All participants will receive a kit that includes one mini basketball for dribbling, one Teslon
basketball for passing/catching and shooting, one blue or orange jersey, and one
participant’s manual.

Classes will be using many drilled-based stations. We are having fewer classes so that
we can sanitize between classes. All students will enter with their masks on and then
have their temperature checked during a health screening that will take place before
each class begins. Classes will be held in the gymnastics gym and take place on all of
the gymnastics apparatus.
This will be a 8-week program with no show at the end. This is a tentative schedule
and is dependent upon registration. The instructors will place everyone in the
appropriate class.
