Early registration is highly 252-475-5927 recommended. There is a $5 late fee for registering after the Field Conditions, Game program’s registration deadline. To register in person, please call our office to make an appointment.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN REGISTERING: Registration can be done online, or you can make an appointment to register in person. If there are issues with online registration, please call our office for assistance. A program is open until it is full. Once a program is full, children will be placed on a waiting list. If space becomes available, participants on the waiting list will be notified. Participants must meet the age requirement and play at age. Participants will not be allowed to play “up” or “down.” Participants must be a Dare County resident. Programs/schedules are subject to change without notice. NEW SOCIAL DISTANCING GUIDELINES: All programs will follow all social distancing guidelines. All participants must remain 6 feet or more apart, and when they are not 6 feet apart they MUST wear a mask. All participants will go through health screenings and temperature checks upon arrival each day, and they must be masked during this process. DO NOT send your child to a program if they are not feeling well or if they have been around someone who has been sick or diagnosed with COVID-19. Ages: 3-5 with parent START SMART Cost: $40 Where: Youth Center at Family Recreation Park BASKETBALL When: Tuesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 5 to Jan. 21 Times: 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. CODE: 1637 Instructors: Nate Hall & Acra Styron Class Size: Minimum 5. Maximum 10. Details: This program teaches children between the ages of 3 and 5 motor skill-based tasks that will gradually help build their confidence—all while children have fun at the same time. Dare County Parks and Recreation Department staff will teach parents and children a variety of basketball skills, including dribbling/ball handling, passing/catching, running/agility and shooting, all without the threat of competition or getting hurt. The parents will then work with their child to develop these skills. This is a great way for parents to work one on one with their child and to spend quality time together. All participants will receive a kit that includes one mini basketball for dribbling, one Teslon basketball for passing/catching and shooting, one blue or orange jersey, and one participant’s manual.

All classes are smaller in size in order to meet social distancing guidelines. All participants ages 5 and up will be required to wear a mask during class. Classes will be using many drilled-based stations. We are having fewer classes so that we can sanitize between classes. All students will enter with their masks on and then have their temperature checked during a health screening that will take place before each class begins. Classes will be held in the gymnastics gym and take place on all of the gymnastics apparatus. This will be a 8-week program with no show at the end. This is a tentative schedule and is dependent upon registration. The instructors will place everyone in the appropriate class.
CREATIVE KIDS CODE: 1638 CLASS Ages: Grades 2-5 Cost: $20 When: Jan. 6, 13, 20 & 27 Class Size: Limited to 8 kids. Time: 3:00-4:30 p.m. Where: Youth Center at Family Recreation Park Details: Sign your kids up to hone and display their cooking and crafting skills. At each meeting, our participants will join in the fun by cooking (and taste-testing!) their creations as well as practice their art and handcrafting skills. WINTER CODE: 1639 WONDERLAND Ages: Kindergarten through 5th grade Cost: $5 When: Friday, Jan. 22 | 5-10 p.m. Class Size: Limited to 8 kids per age group Where: Youth Center at Family Recreation Park (K-2 & 3-5). Details: When it is cold outside, your kids can join us for the Dare County Parks and Recreation Department’s Winter Wonderland. There will be tons of fun, including craft-making, a variety of games and several exciting activities. Yummy snacks will also be provided to keep the kids warm and cozy. All kids and staff members will remain masked at all times, and they must practice social distancing and perform frequent hand washing while participating. Kids must eat a meal before coming. Kids need to bring a mat/towel, blanket and pillow for the entertainment that will end the evening. Parents will be emailed on Jan. 20 with specific drop-off and pick-up instructions.
