Background Joint Technical Committee 1 (JTC 1) is an internationally JTC 1 recognised Standards developer for Information, Communications and Technology JTC 1 sits under the International Standards Organisation (ISO) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) JTC 1 has a network of the national standards bodies of 92 countries (one member/one vote per country) Currently there are 34 Participating countries and 58 Observing countries Australia is a P-member 2
Background JTC 1 has 19 Sub-Committees, 6 Special Working Groups, JTC 1 and 2 Working Groups. (Each Sub-Committee has a number of WGs) 3
JTC 1 Strategic Joint Technical Committee 1 – Strategic Advisory Advisory Committee (JTC1 SAC) was established by SA in Committee: 2011 Scope It is convened by SA to operate at a strategic level to provide guidance to support Australia’s interface with JTC1 Involvement in JTC 1 SAC enhances information sharing and communication and provides an opportunity to address ICT standardization issues and challenges on behalf of Australia The ongoing challenges and opportunities surrounding such critical areas as accessibility, governance of IT, big data, energy efficiency, ICT sustainability, security, and cloud computing ensures that JTC 1 SAC has a key advisory role to play 4
