A Scenario Imagine this scenario, it’s a particularly common occurrence. A manager, a leader of people in your business isn’t cutting it. The person is struggling to have effective, and sometimes difficult conversations, which is impacting the engagement, motivation, and productivity of employees. The leader isn’t thinking strategically, and is failing to communicate the vision, goals, and objectives of the organisation. The leader isn’t thinking commercially, directly impacting people, performance, and profits. The outcomes of scenarios like these, are inevitable, the manager leaves, is demoted, or fired. The ramifications are damaging and costly, for the individual, the organisation, and its customers. The leader isn’t thinking commercially, directly impacting people, performance, and profits. The Stark Reality This is not a made-up story; this is real-life, and typical of what happens in organisations today, at all levels of management. But why? There are many reasons, but one involves the evident expectation within a business that a high performer can somehow make a seamless transition into management, or that existing managers and leaders have a full grasp of their roles and responsibilities. But how well prepared are they, and what are the implications to a business, if critical competencies and behaviours aren’t fully developed and applied? To answer these questions, business leaders must consider what they are doing to prepare themselves, their management teams, and their emerging leaders for the challenges ahead. In a world of relentless change, what are you doing to support and motivate your top talent, to meet the demands of brutal market conditions, the demands of your business, your employees, and your customers? To what extent is your talent management and succession strategy working? What are the implications to a business, if critical competencies and behaviours aren’t fully developed and applied? Inspiring Leader Our Inspiring Leaders Open Programme is expertly designed to literally “Inspire” those in management positions to overcome the multitude of challenges they face. Delegates are inspired to create new behaviours, which result from gaining a deep understanding of best-in-class leadership models and frameworks, applied practically through challenging experiential learning activities. This becomes a journey of self-discovery and development, providing the motivation to nurture new habits, derived from a deeper understanding of self, of others, and the impacts of their leadership and management behaviours. The Development Pathway Programme onboarding Delegates join their team mates online for a virtual onboarding experience. Delegates begin the process of getting to know each other, engaging in conversations around the programme framework, the modular development pathway and programme objectives. Pre-module preparation Delegates are invited to engage in self-reflection, and conversation with their programme sponsor or manager to establish personal aims and objectives. Delegates complete leadership assessment tools online for subsequent utilisation across the entire development pathway. These include emotional intelligence and behavioural profile reports. Module 1: Inspiring the Self-aware Leader Module one immerses delegates into a challenging voyage of self-discovery, understanding self is the principal theme. Leading, managing, and understanding others, starts with understanding the concept of behaviour. Individual behavioural profiles are explored, in addition to reflection around the drivers and motivations behind behavioural routines and habits. The notion of emotional intelligence is discussed, in addition to the impacts of high, or low E.I, on business performance, career development, team relationships and self-development. Leadership and management theories and models are explored, and opportunities are provided for peer-to-peer feedback and reflection. This is an engaging, challenging, and highly experiential module, which gets people out of their chairs, and delivers rich learning, collaborative working, and fun! Module 2: Inspiring, Leading, and Managing Others The second module considers the delegates’ learning from module one, and how their understanding of self, relates to their leadership of others. The requisite behaviours and approaches to effectively leading, motivating and managing others is the principal theme. Delegates explore effective conversation frameworks, and the challenges involved in skilfully holding difficult conversations. The fundamental pillars of coaching are practiced, including the provision of effective feedback. The theory and science of motivation is a key theme, including an exploration of what it is, why it matters, and its impacts on human behaviour, relationships, and business performance. In a similar vein to module one, this is a highly experiential module, delivering immense insight, learning, and practical tools to enhance leadership effectiveness.
Module 3: Inspiring Commercial Agility The impact, and the implications of a manager’s commercial behaviour is the principal theme in module three. The approach is an outstanding blend of developing business awareness, together with the practical application of commercial agility. Delegates engage in an exploration of commercial understanding, considering the modern-day business environment, and the leader’s commercial responsibility. Delegates’ commercial thinking is challenged, as this relates to organisations, markets, customers, and financial constructs. Experientially, delegates are invited to formulate a business strategy, in order to realise an evident market opportunity, and lead a business towards a profitable outcome. The delegate’s commercial thinking, and the decisions they make, will determine whether or not they succeed. Module 4: Inspiring Best-In-Class Leadership Module four consolidates the delegate’s learning, derived from their development pathway. The primary objective here, is enabling traction, and accelerating their leadership effectiveness in the real-world environment. We provide delegates with tools to build, lead and manage high-performing teams, that deliver exceptional results. Specific frameworks are explored to achieve this, speaking into matters such as strategy development, performance management, team theory, and accountability, as examples. Delegates reflect on how they’ve practically applied their learning in the workplace, preparing them for the final stages of their work-based project; additional experiential activities highlight their progress and learning. Time for reflection and feedback is provided to ensure delegates leave the programme with clear output goals and objectives. Support Visits & Coaching An integral element of our Leadership Development Open Programme are the support visits that occur between each of the four residential modules. Professional, accredited coaches work with the delegates on a 1:1 basis, to support learning transfer, behaviour change and the work-placed challenges that they will inevitably face. These support visits have proven invaluable, in making the learning stick, nurturing sustainable performance improvement, and delivering a return on investment from the development programme.
