15TH PRAVASI BHARTIYA DIVAS TO BE HELD IN VARANSI, WEBSITE
                         LAUNCHED
The 15th Pravasi Bhartiya Divas will be held in Varanasi in January 2019. The Indian diaspora
attending the event will get an opportunity to participate in the ‘Kumbh Snan’ and attend the
Republic Day parade. The announcement was made by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj
and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath jointly launching a dedicated website for the
event from January 21-23.EAM also said that Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth will
be chief guest for the January 22 main event, while Norway leader Himanshu Gulati and New
Zealand MP Charanjit Singh Bakshi will be special guests at the PBD event to be held on January
21.

     HINDI WEEKLY NEWS BULLETIN FROM UNITED NATIONS HAS
                   BEGUN: SUSHMA SWARAJ
A Hindi weekly news bulletin from the platform of the UN has started broadcast as part of a pilot
project, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj announced, emphasizing that the government
was also making efforts to make Hindi one of the official languages of the world body. All Hindi-
speaking people from across the world can listen to the news broadcast from the UN. The news
bulletin on UN radio is weekly and is 10 minutes long. EAM Mrs. Swaraj also said that the
government is continuing to make efforts to make Hindi one of the official languages of the UN.

 INDIAN PASSPORT HOLDERS MAY SOON GET PRIORITY VISAS TO 26
                   EUROPEAN COUNTRIES
Priority visa, currently being offered in India by the UK, may soon be offered by other European
countries. The Schengen states are the ones looking at this option. Currently, the UK offers
priority service charging Dh90,000 in addition to the visa fees for 'super priority' category,
where visa decision is delivered in a day. For Rs. 20,000, the visa decision takes less than a week
in the 'priority' category.

 INDIA TO BUILD 12 BIOFUEL REFINERIES TO REDUCE OIL IMPORTS
India aims to set up 12 biofuel refineries in a bid to reduce oil imports by $1.74 billion through an
increased use of biofuels. The government will achieve 10 percent ethanol blending in petrol by
2022 and aims to double it to 20 percent by 2030. So far, India has allowed for the blending of up
to 10 percent ethanol extracted from sugarcane in gasoline.

INDIA JOINS ELITE CLUB POSSESSING AIR-TO-AIR FIGHTER JET
                     REFUELING CAPABILITY
The Indian Air Force (IAF) has successfully completed air-to-air refueling in actual terms on the
domestically built fighter aircraft Tejas MK1 with an IL-78 MKI tanker. India's state-owned
aerospace behemoth Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) announced that Tejas had
successfully completed the wet (actual) engagement by transferring 1,900 kilograms of fuel from
the IAF IL78 mid-air refueling tanker.

        INDIA AIMS TO SEND ASTRONAUTS INTO SPACE BY 2022
India will send an astronaut into space by 2022, the Prime Minister of India said during the
Independence Day speech. He said “We have decided that by 2022, when India completes 75
years of independence, or before that, a son or daughter of India will go to space with a tricolor
[Indian flag] in their hands,”

India will soon launch a dedicated space and science television channel to make their benefits
reach people across the country. Within the next three to four months, there will be a television
channel launched to reach even the rural parts of India on how space program can benefit the
common man.

INDONESIA INTERNATIONAL BOOK FAIR 2018
Indonesia International Book Fair 2018 (IIBF 2018) was held from 12-16 September 2018 at Jakarta Convention
Center, Jakarta (Indonesia). National Book Trust, India (NBT) showcased more than 150 books on various subjects
both in English and Hindi. These books represented the work of about 20 Indian publishers. NBT has been participating
in the IIBF for last two years.

NBT, an apex body of the Government of India under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, is engaged in the
promotion of Indian publishing abroad. It organizes the prestigious New Delhi World Book Fair every year which is the
largest book fair in the Afro-Asian region. The next fair, New Delhi World Book Fair 2019 will be held from 5-13
January 2019 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

FLAVOR'S OF INDIA
                            MALABAR CHICKEN FRY
INGREDIENTS:                        HOW TO PREPARE:

500 grams Chicken, cleaned and      To begin making the Malabar Chicken Fry recipe, Cut the

2 teaspoons Kashmiri red chilli     powder and salt. Keep it aside for 15 minutes.

(Haldi)                             masala powder, remaining vinegar and mix well. Keep aside
2 tablespoon Vinegar                for 1 hour.Using kashmiri red chilli powder gives a fiery red
1 Green Chilli,slit lengthwise      colour to the chicken fry.Take grated coconut in a small
1 tablespoon Meat masala            bowl, add remaining kashmiri red chilli powder and mix
3 tablespoons Fresh coconut,        well. Keep aside.Heat coconut oil in a pan, add the
grated                              marinated chicken pieces in oil along with slit green
Salt , to taste                     chilly. Fry well on low flame.Once the chicken pieces are
2 sprig Curry leaves                half cooked, add the grated coconut mix, and curry leaves
3 tablespoons Coconut Oil           to it. Add 100ml water to allow the chicken to cook well.
100 ml Water                        Fry until the water is fully reduced, chicken is properly
                                    fried and cooked soft.Remove the chicken from the fire
                                    when oil starts to leave the sides of the pan and when it is
                                    well done. Tasty Malabar Chicken Fry is ready to be served.

 Coorg, a popular hill station located in the Kodagu district of Karnataka is widely known as the Scotland of

 India, owing to its picturesque hilly setting. During the monsoon season, especially in July and August, the

 entire town transforms into a lush green paradise. The weather becomes quite pleasant and cool because of

 the heavy rains. August is the best time to visit the splendor of the seasonal waterfalls of Coorg. For the

 adventure sports enthusiasts, it’s the perfect time to indulge in sports like river rafting.

11. Mahabaleshwar, Maharashtra

                                                   Located in the in the Satara district of Maharashtra,

                                                   Mahabaleshwar is one of the most popular tourist places to

                                                   visit in August in India and the largest hill stations in the

                                                   Sayadri range. Most of the tourists usually avoid this place

                                                   in the monsoon season due to the torrential rains. But this

                                                   is also the time when the beauty and greenery of

                                                   Mahabaleshwar is enhanced, If you want to enjoy the cool,

                                                   foggy, lush green environment, then head over to this

                                                   beautiful hill station in August.

12. Valley of Flowers, Uttarakhand

                                         A World Heritage site, the Valley of Flowers is situated at the

                                         meeting point of the Zanskar and Western and Eastern Himalayan

                                         ranges. The high, tranquil Himalayan peaks nestle this virtual

                                         paradise on Earth. While it is mainly known for it sprawling

                                         meadows of numerous species of flowers, the fauna here is also rich

                                         including rare and endangered animals like the snow leopard, musk

                                         deer and the brown bear. This place is one of the most beautiful

                                         places to visit in August in India as it’s the time when new flowers

                                         and plants start germinating and burst into full bloom,

Udaipur is considered to be one of the most romantic cities of the world and has rightly received the tag of

the Venice of the East. Also known as the City of Lakes, this is also a historically significant place as it

remained the capital of Mewar for several centuries. The main attractions of the city are the City palace and

the Udaipur Lake Palace located in the middle of the Pichola Lake. One of the best times to visit Udaipur

would be in the monsoon season as you get respite from the piercing heat Rajasthan.

The southern most tip of the Indian subcontinent, Kanyakumari forms an essential part of almost every trip to

South India. Surrounded by water on all three sides, the weather here is usually cool and pleasant, the usual

seaside climate. It is the first place in the country to receive the monsoon showers. If you’re a fan of rain,

then experiencing the monsoon at this place in August in India should be a part of your to-do list. Also, being

a lean season, one might avail some good discounts on hotels and restaurants at this time.
