Spotlight on Workshops The background colours of this month's newsletter is to pay tribute to all the wonderful Rural Fire Service volunteers and others, who have over the last few months, or are currently trying to contain raging fires in many states of Australia. We send them our deepest thanks and heartfelt hope for an end to the tragic loss of human & animal life, and the destruction of natural landscapes, homes, & businesses. From the President Welcome back, I do hope your break has recharged your creative thoughts, and that you are looking forward to connecting with your group. Our house is looking very fresh thanks to the painting bee on the 4th January. We had a good turn out of members cleaning walls & painting the new look kitchen, gallery, Hovea room, plus a wall in the office. We hope you like the new look kitchen which has been updated for your use. New appliances the microwave and dishwasher are simple to use. Instructions for each are on the wall. Please leave the kitchen in a tidy manner.

A big Thank You to: Gabi Dick, Cynthia Hicban, Sally Heron, Sandra Acheson, Robert Harman, Lizzy Quayle, Manfred Schober, Vicki Bradbury, Tricia Bradford, Domi Cohen, Russell Guppy and Jan Dungan. What a great job! Wallace House Kitchen The kitchen has been renovated which started in mid December and was finished by the 21st. Special thanks to John Pritchard for volunteering for the plumbing work, and to Andrew Dick for volunteering to install the splash back tiles and painting the kitchen with Gabi's guidance. "A Life in Patches" You are invited to attend an exhibition by the Wallace House Quilters "A Life in Patches" will be held at Noosa Regional Gallery from 31st January - 8 March. It will be opened by Bob Abbott on Friday 31st January 6 - 8pm. RSVP https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/official-exhibition-opening-a-life-in- patches-tickets-86302949445 The Curator is Loani Prior and the Photographer is Mark Crocker In this exhibition, the quilt is used as a catalyst for sharing the stories of the women who made them, and the story of the vibrant community that is the Wallace House Quilters. Curator, Loani Prior, sat down to tea with 29 of the 55 strong membership and recorded those stories. Mark Crocker photographed the women in their happy place, the rooms and verandahs of Wallace House. And now, the Wallace House Quilters share their quilts and themselves with you. You might remember Loani as the Queen of the Tea Cosies and author of four best-selling Tea Cosy books. But in 2017, she went to the dark side and began playing with fabric and joined the Wallace House Quilters. Soon enough, in their boisterous and creative company, Loani was imagining this exhibition, A Life in Patches, modelled on a previous collaboration with photographer Mark Crocker; Portraits of a Tea Cosy. (2013-2015 touring exhibition.) Come! Stand in the midst of lives suspended in fabric. Listen to the whispers of mothers across the generations. Touch the sadness at the death of a child and feel the force of special friendships. Every single patchwork quilt - a celebration of life. Artastic Sale 2020 The Fantastic Artastic Sale is on again! A reminder to all 2D artists. The annual Artastic Sale will be in its fourth year and becoming an event that is recognised by the public. It also
makes money for NACA. It will be held this Saturday and Sunday 18th and 19th January from 9.30am – 4pm. The Artastic sale has 21 enthusiastic participants at this stage and more are welcome. Artists may bring as many 2D artworks as they like - the more the better. The weather looks as though it is going to be kind to us and will be quite comfortable. Hanging is on Friday afternoon or 8am Saturday morning. All rooms are available for us so there is room to spread out. Please pay the $5 entry fee to either Jean or Tricia, clearly marked Artastic sale. All participants are required to assist in restoring the galleries to their working condition on Sunday afternoon. With so many of us there will be very little for each individual to do. Sandy and her wonderful pop up cafe fairies have planned a delicious menu to include morning and afternoon tea and lunch so you don't have to bring your own. And if it is the same quality as previously the refreshments are just simply delicious.
