LETTER FROM THE CEO 2020 is a pivotal year across our country. LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND DIRECTORS Census 2020 will count the number of people across the United States. This is important because the statistics Benjamin Rosenberg (T/D) from the census help determine how much federal aid Chair, Board of Trustees cities like Baltimore will receive, as well as our state’s and Board of Directors representation in Congress. I have been working closely Patricia Lasher (T/D) with Complete Count Committee Chair Senator Barbara Immediate Past Chair Mikulski to make sure the Pratt Library serves a vital role in Mychelle Farmer, M.D. (T/D) helping with Census 2020. Vice Chair, Board of Trustees For the first time ever, the census is being taken primarily Nancy Hackerman (D) online. We want to make sure that Baltimore households Vice Chair, Board of Directors without internet access can come to their local library to fill out their census. Library staff are trained to assist Jeffrey H. Scherr (T/D) people in taking the census and several computers at Vice Chair, Board of Directors each of our locations will be designated specifically for Mark Kaufman (T/D) that purpose. Treasurer In addition, we’ve added some part-time contract Beulah Perdue Sabundayo (D) workers at several branches who are also trained. Our Secretary Mobile Services team is equipped with tablets so they can go into the community to help more people be counted. We’ll also have trained staff at the four laundromats that take Virginia K. Adams (T/D) part in the Wash and Learn Initiative. Kenneth S. Aneckstein (T/D) Sandra Berman (D) We know getting to your local library during the work week can be challenging for Steven Boothe (D) some. That’s why we’ll be holding a series of Census Sundays. Three Sundays in April, Sarah K. Brandt (D) several of our neighborhood branches will be open special hours so people can come Mary H. DeKuyper (T/D) and participate in Census 2020. We’ll also have Complete Count celebrations happening Edward S. Delaplaine, II (D) across the Pratt system. Derrick Dickens (D) I want to thank our partners at the Goldseker Foundation and the Baltimore Community Nancy Dorman (T/D) Foundation who have made these initiatives possible. Together we can make sure that all of Christine M. Espenshade (T/D) Baltimore gets counted. Susan K. Gauvey (D) Sandra P. Gohn, Esq. (T/D) Heidi Daniel Robert S. Hillman (T/D) President & Chief Executive Officer Jacob Hodes (D) Allan D. Jensen, M.D. (T/D) A Message from Senator Barbara Mikulski, Verna Jones-Rodwell (T/D) Chair of the Census 2020 Complete Count Committee Alexander W. Koff, Esq.
