Warrenton where hunters revel in another full day out. Our other guests visit the fascinating McGregor Museum
featuring displays of natural history, the environment and the origins of humankind. After lunch at the Protea Hotel,
guests visit the William Humphreys Art Gallery. This is an important cultural oasis that houses a collection of
traditional South African works including San rock art as well as the works of 16th- and 17th-century Masters.

Continuing in a southerley direction, the train arrives in Kimberley for a two-day stay in the area. As the centre of
one of the world’s most famous diamond rushes, there is an opportunity for all our guests to visit the Big Hole and
savour the 1870s atmosphere of the Mine Museum and its surrounding village. After lunch at the Kimberley Club,
guests can take a tour of the taxidermy and rehabilitation centre at Wintershoek followed by a traditional
barbeque dinner at a local estate. Plains game hunters may choose a full day of shooting or join the Kimberley tour.

On day six the hunters set off for a full day in the field while non-hunters enjoy lunch and a game drive at the
Mattanu Game Reserve. The train then continues east to Bloemfontein, popularly known as the City of Roses.

Day seven has the guns busy in the Kloofeind area located in the middle of the Motheo region. Our other guests
enjoy a tour of Bloemfontein visiting the Anglo Boer War Museum and battlefields, the Fourth Raadsaal and the
Women’s Monument followed by lunch at the Emoya Hotel and Spa. Guests can also visit the world-renowned
cheetah breeding facility, indulge in an optional spa treatment or explore the Oliewenhuis Art Museum set
in a magnificent garden in the city.

After a memorable week in the bush enjoying all the opportunities the area has to offer, the train departs for

with US Dollars. Hotels and major dealers accept credit cards.

Larger denominations recommended for exchanging money to local currency (especially in Tanzania) as you get a
better rate. The Gift Shop on board might exchange money if currency is available, but it is not normally catered for.

Cuisine on Board
Meals are served in one sitting only in the charming Victorian atmosphere of the dining cars. Breakfast: 07h00-10h00
• Lunch: 13h00 • Tea: 16h30 • Dinner: 19h30. All meals are served at these times unless otherwise stated.

Dietary Requirements
We will do our best to cater for dietary requirements provided a detailed request has been made on the Reservation
Form. We regret we are unable to prepare meals requiring strict religious observance in the preparation.

Mobile Devices and Internet
In maintaining the spirit of travel of a bygone era, there are no radios or television sets on board. The use of mobile
phones, laptops and essentially anything that has the ability to disturb other passengers is confined to the privacy of your
suites only. Reception is poor while the train is moving. It is advised to contact your service provider to ensure the correct
settings for network services are activated. Internet is available at our Cape Town lounge and Rovos Rail Station.

Smoking on Board
Smoking is allowed in the Club Lounge only and in your suite. Please be mindful that the train is generally made up of
wood; please don’t throw flammable items off the train as bush fires in Africa are a constant and dangerous hazard.

hours so we aren’t able to handle a week’s worth of washing. There are no dry-cleaning facilities en route or on board.

Luggage
Each suite has a luggage rack that runs its length providing ample space for storage.

Gift Shop
There is a small gift shop on the train and at Rovos Rail Station. Due to the varying exchange rates, credit cards are
preferred. The gift shop host/ess will also fulfil any administrative requirements and check your onward arrangements.

Gratuities
Gratuities for the staff are at your discretion. If you wish to show your appreciation in this manner, there is a marked
envelope in your suite that you can hand to the Train Manager who will distribute any amounts on a pro-rata basis
(share) among the staff. An amount between ZAR100-200 pp/night is suggested, depending on the length of journey.

Special Occasions
Please note on the Reservation Form if you are celebrating a special occasion as we would like to share it with you.
