HUB News – Easter 2017 Hello to all parents / carers! Welcome to the 2018 Easter edition of HUB news, with information on activities and events running over the Easter Weekend and throughout the school holidays. We hope you will find this useful! The KIDS HUBs are information and support services for parents and carers of disabled children and young people across Hertfordshire. Our aim is to provide a ‘one-stop-shop’ for parents to help them find what they need. We are continuing to run our popular HUB Toy Library stay and play sessions - please see below for Easter holiday dates. You can find out more about us, browse the Toy Library catalogue and request to join our Facebook group from our website: www.kids.org.uk/hub If you have any queries relating to your disabled child, the HUBs are here to help! East HUB: 01992 504013 and West HUB: 01923 676549 hub.herts@kids.org.uk Kind regards, The KIDS HUBs Team
2 Independent Support Service Information and support with Education, Health and Care Plans and transfer reviews The law for children and young people with special educational needs has changed. Statements of SEN or Learning Difficulty Assessments are gradually being transferred to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Independent Supporters are trained to help families applying for a new plan or transferring from a statement to an EHCP. We can: Explain the process Listen to you and your child/young person and ensure your voice is heard Talk to you about your child’s aspirations and what they would like to achieve Talk to you about outcomes for your child Provide support in meetings Assist with paperwork Support is flexible to meet your family’s individual needs. The service is able to offer face-to-face support, telephone advice and attendance at meetings in school or with other professionals.
