“ I prefer drawing to talking. Drawing is faster and leaves less room for lies. “ ~ Le Corbusier WHY CHOOSE THE SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE AND SPATIAL DESIGN? The School of Architecture and Spatial Design (SoASD) offers bold and creative learning experiences in architecture, interior design and spatial design. It is now offering short learning programmes to a diverse audience, including school- leavers and practitioners. The school has submitted two entry-level qualifications to the Council on Higher Education and is awaiting accreditation. The qualifications are endorsed by the South African Council for the Architectural Profession and the African Institute of the Interior Design Professions respectively. We interact daily with places and spaces – from a garden to a gallery; a dining room to a dance club; a sandpit to a city square. The disciplines of architecture and spatial design bring quality and renewal to the lives of individuals and communities. Our students question, explore, test ideas in real-world contexts and carefully consider the impact of design on society and the planet, our well-being and the long-term health and sustainability of our planet. Students at the School of Architecture and Spatial Design will be encouraged to embrace and apply systems thinking, which will contribute to them becoming well-rounded, progressive citizens who can play a part in the well-being of all in society.
