THE LAY OF THE LAND: FARM OVERVIEW OLIFANTS RIVER The Olifants River is a beautiful river with swim holes and stretches of pristine riparian wilderness. During the past three years of extreme drought, we have closed our river activities, but we might open it again this year - watch this space. ROOIBOS TEA FIELDS Rooibos is a tea crop locally indigenous to the Cederberg region. The locals often refer to it as a ‘wonder bossie’ or a ‘bush of wonder’ due to its abundance of production of a healthy tea given the harsh environment. The natural soil of rooibos is sandy well-drained soil and often contains no organic matter and very low in nutrients but high in minerals. The plant flourishes in an environment with little rainfall and receives no artificial irrigation. And yet the health benefits is AD honoured throughout the world. Rooibos is hand planted and hand-harvested. E RO NC TRA EN MEMORIAL FOREST In this magnificent amphitheatre adjacent to the labyrinth, we have planted the first trees of a memorial forest. Indigenous cedar trees used to flourish in the Cedarberg mountains, and we would like our guests to take part in this forest planting where they can buy an indigenous tree from us that they can plant and we will look after them. You can place personal effects or ask us to carve a nameplate. Planting months are from May to September. Here the wind sweeps through the trees and over the valley, freeing and majestic. Please talk to us if you are interested. LABYRINTH E RO AD Walk this ancient design for a deep meditation or just a fun NC ENTRA activity while overlooking stunning views of the valley.
