Letter from the Organizers Dear Competitors and Supporters of Fresno County Horse Park, Welcome to the first full Horse Trials at FCHP since COVID struck and John Marshall decided to let go of the FCHP reins. The FCHP team is now composed of some very experienced people and some new fac- es, they had their first opportunity to work together at the January Combined Test/ Fundraiser. The Team did a great job and have noted some areas for improvement. We are all hoping that this is the last competition that will require COVID protocols of controlling access to the show grounds, daily monitoring of temperatures, masks and social distancing. Please help us comply so that we satisfy USEA/USEF and California requirements for operation. I am very pleased to announce that Stubben North America, through Alana Curtis, is sponsoring the 2021 Series Grand Prizes! The Series first place winner will be able to choose either a Stubben monoflap jump or a Stubben monoflap dressage saddle ($4,000 value, customization available at responsibility of the winner). The Series second place winner will receive a Stubben bridle and the Series third place winner will receive a Stubben Equisoft girth. Let’s ride!!! Silence is appreciated during the dressage test until the competitor is finished with his/her final salute and is leaving the arena. Please feel free to seek a good vantage point to enjoy the cross-country jumping. Be aware of horses coming and listen to any fence judge if they ask you to stay clear of the jumps. Please refrain from assisting any of the riders on the cross-country course. They are disqualified for unauthor- ized assistance. The only assistance allowed is catching a loose horse and a leg up.

2021 - FRESNO COUNTY HORSE PARK SERIES HIGH POINT RULES For the Series High Point (winner’s choice: Stubben monoflap jump saddle or dressage saddle), a competitor earns points for: 1. Each USEA/USEF trial entered. Completion is not required but full fees must have been paid. 10 points will be awarded each horse/rider pair that enters and pays full fees. 2. Difficulty of division entered for Beginner Novice, Novice, Training and Preliminary. Completion is not required but full fees must have been paid. For example, Intro receives zero difficulty points. Beginner Novice will be awarded difficulty points and Novice will be awarded more difficulty points than Beginner Novice. This increase in difficulty points continues up the levels. Zero points will be awarded each horse/rider pair that enters and pays full fees for Intro. 5 points will be awarded each horse/rider pair that enters and pays full fees for Beginner Novice. 10 points will be awarded each horse/rider pair that enters and pays full fees for Novice. 15 points will be awarded each horse/rider pair that enters and pays full fees for Training. 20 points will be awarded each horse/rider pair that enters and pays full fees for Modified. 25 points will be awarded each horse/rider pair that enters and pays full fees for Preliminary. 30 points will be awarded each horse/rider pair that enters and pays full fees for Intermediate. 3. Additional points are awarded for placing first through seventh, dependent upon the number of riders in the division. For example, if a rider places first in a division that only has one entry they will not be awarded as many points as a rider that places first in a division with thirteen entries. If six or more riders in class/division, 1st through 6th will respectively be awarded 70, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10 points. If five riders in class/division, 1st through 5th will respectively be awarded 60, 40, 30, 20, 10 points. If four riders in class/division, 1st through 4th will respectively be awarded 50, 30, 20, 10 points. If three riders in class/division, 1st through 3rd will respectively be awarded 40, 20, 10 points. If two riders in class/division, 1st through 2nd will respectively be awarded 30, 10 points. If one rider in class/division, 1st will be awarded 10 points. 4. Points are accumulated by horse and rider combination. Any change of horse or rider starts new point tally. 5. The saddle of choice will be awarded to the horse/rider combination that accumulates the most points. Ties will be broken by closest to optimum time in cross country. 6. Saddle winner will be announced one week after the November Horse Trials. High point winner will be given contact information to arrange their special order with the saddle manufacturer.

Introducing Terry Hillst I am honored to take over the reins for Fresno County Horse Park from John Marshall. I want to continue the amazing work that John has done since 2012 so that West Coast Eventers have the best possible schooling and competition opportunities. Please allow me to introduce myself. Born in Los Angeles, CA; graduated high school in Huntington Beach, CA; four years later moved to Los Gatos, CA; graduated with Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from San Jose State University, moved to Yankee Hill, CA in 1996. Professional career for forty years in paperboard packaging. I have my HA/HM and C3 Pony Club certifications. Passionate about equestrian sports but enjoys many activities - used to golf four times per week, play volleyball, attended water ski school in Bundaberg, Australia, snorkeled on the Great Barrier Reef, scuba dived in the Bahamas and Hawaii, have walked on the Great Wall of China and am a Formula One racing fan who has attended races in Spain, Italy and Singapore. Eventing ignites my enthusiasm but I have a broad experience with horses. I purchased my first horse at age fifteen and have owned two to nine horses ever since. Since I was twenty years old, the horses have always been kept at home along with a select group of boarders. I dabbled in breeding, standing my own TB stallion for five years. I have ridden Hunter/Jumper, Western Eq/Pleasure, Gymkhana and Competitive Trail (NATRC/AERC). I trained my Quarter Horse/Mustang to harness and had great fun driving in the Los Gatos Christmas Parade. Long distance horse camping is a particular favorite and trips included a week long castle-to-castle ride in France, week long ride in Trinity Alps plus a ride from Fresno to the Minaret Pack Station (near Mammoth Mountain). Eventing is now my main focus, I have competed up to the Preliminary level and like all aspects of Eventing including cross country course design (have current license to Training Level, working on license for Prelim level), footing preparation (own a tractor with aggravator attachment) and organizing. For many years I volunteered at Camelot Equestrian Park and organized USEA/USEF Horse Trials, schooling Horse Trials and Dressage Shows. I look forward to a great 2021 show season and welcoming you to FRESNO COUNTY HORSE PARK Terry Hilst
