Sherwood experiences We offer a range of activities that are in keeping with our fabulous forest setting. See our website for latest dates, availability and prices. Wildlife photography Learn how to take incredible pictures of hawks, owls and falcons as they swoop through the Sherwood Forest treetops, with award-winning wildlife photographer Heather Burns on hand to give you her expert tips. The five-hour session starts with a briefing from expert falconer Simon Stacey, who flies the birds of prey throughout the day and provides a fascinating insight to each of the birds. Falconry days Our Falconry Days are new for 2018. You’ll be led by expert falconer Simon Stacey and learn how to fly and handle hawks, falcons, owls and eagles, as they glide through the tree tops of Sherwood Forest. Groups will be limited to eight people, with each person equipped with their own glove and vest. Hawk walks Join one of our weekly Hawk Walks to experience Harris Hawks flying through the pine and birch trees of Sherwood Forest. Expert falconer Simon Stacey will show you how to call the birds so they perch on your arm, and he’ll give you an insight into these magnificent birds. All equipment, including your glove and hawking vest, is provided. Target sessions Breathe slowly and keep your hands steady with our exciting target activities, which are new to The Sherwood Hideaway.
