WELCOME! Thank you for joining us for the 28th Annual Young Play- wright’s Festival ON VIMEO! Over the Past 28 years, years The Blank Theatre’s Young Play- wrights Festival has produced 356 plays by young writers ages 9 to 19 selected from over 5,000 nationwide submissions. The Blank is comitted to letting young playwrights see their vision come to life on stage through professional actors and directors, mentored along the way by amazing writers. YPF has acted as marker for generations of playwrights. Tony Award winner Stephen Karam and Kesselring and Steinberg Award-winner Lauren Yee have already made strides in reshaping how we see and make theater. Other Festival Winsberg creator of NBC’s new Zoey’s Alums include Austin Winsberg, Extraordinary Playlist, Kit Steinkellner, Steinkellner creator of the Face- book watch series Sorry for Your Loss, and so many others who have launched successful careers in film, television, me- dia, and music. We work hard to bring YPF together every year, but this year we have been thrown an incredible curve ball. We are so proud of each and every single person who has worked so hard to keep the train moving, with the same love and atte- nion they have always brought to a live room. They have come togther when everyone is at wits end to yell: “The The Future of Theater is Here at The Blank!” Blank At the Blank, We have always sought to achieve the essence of our winning YPF Plays. We’ve always had world-class act- ing, but never world-class sets, world-class lights, and espcial- ly not world-class wifi. But those are not important. If we can tap the essence of each of these beautifully crafted plays that is enough. The essence is what carries us. It’s all we need. We think we’ve found it for you here. We hope you agree.
