12-13 June 2018 | Singapore Summit Brought to you by Diamond Sponsors AstaReal Be you, Just healthier Platinum sponsors
Welcome Hello and welcome to the first Healthy Ageing APAC Summit, brought to you by FoodNavigator-Asia and NutraIngredients-Asia, part of William Reed. Over the next two days we are going to assess and debate how the nutrition and food industries can better meet Asia-Pacific’s rapidly ageing population, both for the older generation of today, and that of tomorrow. The Asia-Pacific region is currently home to about 60 per cent of the world’s population of older people, defined as those aged 60 years or older. Furthermore, the number of older persons in the region is expected to more than double from 547 million in 2016 to nearly 1.3 billion by 2050. This means the demand for nutrition and food products suitable for the elderly population will soar, while younger people are increasingly aware that the nutrition and health choices they make today will affect their quality of life in older age. That’s why we’ve brought together industry, academics and policymakers to examine how we can all work together to drive the research, innovation and new product development that is urgently required. So, we’ll be hearing from our expert speakers about the emerging food and nutrition solutions for today’s older consumers, and the potential for reformulation and new creations to improve the diets of the broader population in order for them to enjoy a healthier older age in the years to come. In addition to paying thanks to our speakers for their time and commitment, I would also like to thank our event sponsors, AstaReal, DuPont, TSI, Beneo, DSM and Gencor, for their fantastic support. I hope you find the next two days to be informative and inspiring – we firmly believe that events like this can help to accelerate new discoveries and provide the impetus for new product developments. Please do take advantage of the opportunities to fully share and engage with your fellow industry specialists during our debates, roundtable discussions, and networking sessions. Needless to say, you will be able to find comprehensive coverage of the summit at www.FoodNavigator-Asia.com and www.NutraIngredients-Asia.com, and if you haven’t already, I’d encourage you to sign up for our free daily newsletters. I hope you enjoy our event. Gary Scattergood Editor-in-Chief FoodNavigator-Asia and NutraIngredients-Asia 2
