Drake it seemed like I was on target for our 132nd Supreme Grand Monarch Council Session in Cincinnati. I do my best not to take any day, time or place for granted. Doing my best to do my job as I was elected to do and to keep NVENTION TH the direction focused and on target. It is hard to be EM prepared to handle everything. I experienced a moment that our strong tradition and honor was tested. That also includes any and all forms of digital communications. Being the Grand Monarch it’s always a pleasure to visit as much as I could throughout the realm, from many Association installations, Grotto installations, Monarch’s Balls and also to attend the many events and fund raisers to help our Foundation. I must say nothing could have prepared me more for the unbelievable feeling of pride and joy to see a new Grotto receive its E” charter. Grand Historian’s Message In light of a resurgence of new Grotto formations and renewed interest of masons joining existing Grottoes, I found this article from El Texa Grotto published in “THE EL TEXAN” and republished in the “PROPHETABLE IDEAS” March 1962 still relevant. CANDIDATES A CANDIDATE is the most important person in our business! A CANDIDATE is not dependent on us, we are dependent on him. A CANDIDATE is not an interruption of our work – he is the purpose of it. A CANDIDATE honors us when he joins – we are not doing him a favor by obligating him. A CANDIDATE is a part of us – not an outsider. A CANDIDATE is not a cold statistic – he is a flesh and blood human being with feelings and emotions like our own. A CANDIDATE is a person who brings us his wants – it is our job to fill those wants. A CANDIDATE is deserving of the most courteous and attentive treatment we can give him. A CANDIDATE is the life-blood of this and every other organization. Let’s get one now! HOW TIMES HAVE CHANGED, anyone planning a Grotto, Association, or Supreme Council event with required lodging negotiations knows the difficulty of arranging clean, desirable, and most of all, affordable housing. This was taken from the April 1942 “PROPHETABLE IDEAS” SINGLE ROOMS----------------------------------$3.30, $3.85, $4.40, $4.95, $5.50 DOUBLE ROOM – 2 PEOPLE---------------------------$4.95, $5.50, $6.05, $6.60 ROOM WITH TWIN BEDS – 2 PEOPLE------$5.50, $6.05, $6.60, $7.15, $7.70 To help put this in perspective Google reports $1 in 1942 is worth $17.25 today. A MESSAGE FROM THE HUMANITARIAN FOUNDATION TRUSTEES We would like to take this opportunity to apologize for the delay in getting your Enchanted Lanterns and Fairchild certificates to you. We have had some personal and office issues in the last couple of months. But be assured that everything is getting back on track, and you will be receiving your certificates in a more timely manner. We have hired another employee for the Humanitarian Foundation, Robin Edwards, who is working out great. Also, our new programs for Dental, Enchanted Lanterns and Fairchild Society will be up and running sometime the latter part of March. This will make it easier to provide you with any information you request on your donations. Again, thank you for your understanding and patience during the last couple of months. It means quite a lot to us to have the support of everyone and thank you for the donations that keep coming in.
