To the membership, “Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.” This year we have faced a barrage of hardship. But I hope that years from now I can look back on this moment in history and appreciate how much it has shown me the character in others around me. I am so fortunate to be surrounded by many GHJA members who have that character in spades. At the forefront of that community is a GHJA Board of Directors that has volunteered their time to navigate the murky waters of 2020. Thank you to those members for their diligence and for working so hard to ensure the safety and continuation of our sport. Thank you to the GHJA Finals Committee who refused to be slowed down by the pandemic and has spent so much time and effort on the 2020 GHJA Finale. These people are not required to do any of this. They are not compensated. Instead they act selflessly for the benefit of all because it is the only thing they know. It is something inherent to their character. We should all take time to think about our actions and how we can be the best stewards of our sport going forward. The horse community possesses so much strength and that strength should be used not only for individual success but for the success of our industry. I hope that you take these thoughts with you going forward. Thank you for being a member of this organization and, on behalf of the GHJA Board of Directors, we wish you a wonderful GHJA Finals.
