Meet Waffles Shelter by one of our Animal Control partners as a stray and never found his owner. His right eye had been damaged at some point and was sunken in and foggy. Yet, he was a happy, wiggly guy who was excited to get all of the attention from the veterinary team jumped into action and decided that removing the eye would give the healing process, he was the epitome of a good boy, spending a month receiving veterinary care while remaining cheerful. Once he was ready, he went up for adoption, waiting for his human to come kennel, she was immediately swooned and knew that she just found her new best friend. She took him home that very day. Good Humans, We are humbled by the compassion our supporters continue to show us. As the Executive Director of this organization, I am privileged to lead such a focused team in pursuit of our mission in providing support to our surrounding community through education, services that strengthen the human-pet bond, and humane care for the pets we serve. In 2019, we made huge strides towards a healthier and happier animal community here in Jefferson County. We focused on internal controls, financial transparency and the emotional and physical well-being of the animals who find refuge here at the Shelter. We brought in experts like Jackson Galaxy to help us re-imagine our kennel environments and new enrichment ideas. We cultivated new nonprofit partnerships and honored our commitment to local government partners. So, what comes next for Foothills Animal Shelter? While the environment has vastly changed since the start of 2020, we have adjusted to make sure our pets, our good humans and this community stays at the forefront of our goals. Which certainly has not been easy for us, or anybody. We recognize the unique challenges we are all facing and are more committed than ever to drive our mission forward. On behalf of myself, our Board of Directors, staff and volunteers, we sincerely thank you for your extraordinary support. Our success has been built on relationships we have with many of you – and for that, we are grateful. We know we could not continue our life-saving mission without you. Sincerely, 4
