SONNETRY Former Yorkshire Agricultural Society chaplain Toddy Hoare has published a volume of sonnets. Toddy who was YAS chaplain from 1993-2008, is behind the book ‘SONNETRY’ published by Olympia Publishers which is an eclectic mixture of sonnets, drawing on life experience, Christianity, the arts and the beauty of nature. After a hugely successful fourth edition of the Tour de Yorkshire, preparations are underway to host the biggest cycle expo in the county at the Yorkshire Event Centre this October. Backed by last year’s women’s champion, Lizzie Deignan, Cycle Expo Yorkshire has chosen to host its inaugural event at the Yorkshire Event 12-14th Centre thanks to it offering 250 acres of outdoor space as well as being the largest single event October 2018 space in Yorkshire & the North East. This will be one of the largest events ever held at the YEC as it will take in all parts of the event space including woodland areas and roadways which will be prepped to run demos and bike tracks.
COUNTRYSIDE DAYS Nearly 6,000 children from across Yorkshire flocked to the showground for Countryside Days. The free two-day event saw primary school children from all corners of the county, enjoy a full programme of rural activities and demonstrations which tell the tale of food, farming and the countryside in a fun and interactive way. Yorkshire Agricultural Society organise the Countryside Days as part of its educational remit and these are aimed at Key Stage Two (7 to 11 years) children from across the county.
