SABPP 2018 Board Nominees Gerda Botha – Chartered HR Professional Member Since – 05 December 2016 My name is Gerda Botha. My life purpose and passion is to touch and shape people’s lives, which comes naturrally in my role as HR Professional. I am currently employed as Operating Group Learning and Development Manager with Grinaker-LTA. My HR career span over a period of 23 years in a variety of disciplines and on different functioning levels within the Human Resources field, most of it within Learning and Development (including transformation), Organisational Development and HR Information Systems. Except for my current employer, I have worked in a full time capacity for Pretoria Portland Cement, Murray and Roberts (Medupi Power Station Joint Venture) and Civcon Construction. I have also rendered consulting services to a number of smaller companies in my personal capacity. My tertiary qualifications include a BA (Ed) degree from University of Pretoria, and B.Com and B.Com Hons. (Industrial Psychology) from the University of South Africa. My leisure activities include art and craft classes to a group of ladies in an underprivelaged area with the purpose to generate income for themselves. As a person I am a firm believer of continuous improvement and strive to bring a part of this to everything that I do. Arno Brown - Chartered HR Professional Member Since – 26 April 2016 Arno Patrick Brown is the Employee Relations Specialist for Engen Petroleum Limited in Cape Town, reporting to the Employee Relations Manager of Engen Petroleum Limited. He matriculated in 1985 at Langeberg Senior Secondary in Robertson 1986 and started his career with the Western Provincial Government in 1986, studying part-time while climbing the ranks in the Public Service. He started, as an admin clerk in February 1986 and through perseverance and hard work became a Deputy Director in 2004. He had a team of seven Assistant Directors and more than two-hundred community development workers reporting to him. During his tenure in public service, he dealt extensively with Municipalities in the Western Cape, and was part of the inauguration management team of the Community Development Workers programme in 2005. He also served on several Departmental Tender Board committees. After a fulfilling and delightful 21 years of public service, Arno joined the private sector in 2008. He spent a short period as Human Resource Manager for Magna Mirrors, Atlantis and later joined the Civils construction company Roschon (part of the Eskom Group) as an Employee Relations Specialist. During his time spent there, the Medupi & Kusile Power Stations were among his IR projects and was part of the team who drafted the Project Labour Agreement (PLA). In August 2011 he joined the retail store Ackermans (part of the Pepkor Group) as an Employee Relations Specialist, a position he occupied until March 2014, when took up his current position for Engen Petroleum Limited. Arno specialises in employment litigation, individual employment law, collective Labour law, and general employment law. He specialised in this fielfor nearly 10 years and continues to devote himself in fighting for fairness and consistency and to keep the principles of HR intact. His recent activities includes successful substantive wage negotiations in Tanzania, Namibia & South Africa.
SABPP 2018 Board Nominees Sifiso Cele - Master HR Professional Member Since – 31 October 2012 HR Executive, Absa Group Limited - Wealth Investment Management and Insurance. Mr Sifiso Cele is currently employed by Absa Group Limited as an HR Executive. Previously was employed by the Liberty Group as an Executive of Human Resources for STANLIB Limited. Within the Liberty Group, Sifiso also held a several head of HR roles, i.e. Head of HR for Liberty Corporate and Liberty Health. Before joining the Liberty Group, he was employed as the Head of Talent Sourcing and Selection for Absa Corporate & Business Bank. Among others, Sifiso has worked for Standard Bank, ABI and Uniliver. Collectively, he has 18 years of experience within the Human Resources field and has been in executive roles for the last 14 years. Sifiso holds an MBA from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), a Post-graduate Diploma in Business Management from UKZN, an Honours degree in Industrial Sociology, a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree in Industrial Sociology & Organisational Psychology, both from UCT. As a professional, Sifiso has appeared in the following publications, Sunday Times Career Section article “Out of the Box Into the Job – March 2012; Impumelelo Magazine 2011/2012; Best Employers 2011/2012; Destiny Man September / October 2012; Impumelelo Magazine 2012/2013 and has co-authored and published a book “A Strange Place Called Home” (2007). He is an SABPP member, Master HR Practitioner since 2012. As a contribution to Corporate SA, Sifiso has also played the following roles: Judge for The Oliver Awards – Top Empowered Companies (2017), Judge for Vision 2030 – Vision 2030 NDP Awards (2017), Judge for Vision 2030 – Vision 2030 NDP Awards (2018), Judge for HR Future Awards (2018) Thembi Chagonda - Chartered HR Professional Member Since – 27 May 2015 Currently work as a Managing Director for Global Business Solutions since 2005 to date and has extensive experience consulting in the fields of Human Resource Management, Diversity and Inclusion, Employment Equity, Transformation in the workplace. Helps employers with strategies on how to better promote a diverse and inclusive workplace by advising on better implementation of the relevant related legislation. She consults for large and small companies and multinational companies. Her business focuses on Labour Law legislation such Employment Equity Act, Labour Relations Act, Skills Development Act and BEE Act on BBBEE consultation. She is also a shareholder and a director of Khulisani- Academy Farming and Learn to Earn business established to assist persons with disabilities to find meaningful working opportunities. A director and Chairperson of listed REIT company for 10 years since 2008. Involved in Remuneration, Nomination and Social and Ethics Sub-Committees. Founder and Chairperson of an Education Trust for a Renewable Wind Energy company since 2012. Thembi holds a Degree in Social Science, majoring in Industrial Psychology & Sociology from Rhodes University also achieved Post Graduate Diploma in Labour Law, accredited Assessor and Moderator. Accreditation in 4MAT Learning Design for About Learning an institution accredited through Michigan University (2016). Currently appointment as a Commissioner to serve in the Employment Equity Commission to represent Business Unity. Oliver Top Empowerment Award 2018, Finalist for the Entrepreneur of the year and Finalist Top Black Female Leader of the Year Award 2013, 13th Oliver Empowerment Award. Finalist for the 17th Top Black Female Entrepreneur Award, 2018.Thembi is a Board member of the ASDSA (Association for Skills Development in South Africa). She is involved in several initiatives to promote transformation in the workplace and in education.
SABPP 2018 Board Nominees Finny Chauke - HR Professional Member Since – 30 January 2013 Finny Chauke holds a degree in Human Resources Development; is a seasoned HR professional with over 20 years' experience in Human Resources Business Partnering, BBBEE, Organisational Development and Change Management Specialist. She has strong expertise in development of HR strategy, Performance management processes, competency job profiling & descriptions, Reward, Talent management strategies and acquisition, Employee engagement, Leadership & Management development, employment equity & skills development, BBBEE, Business revitalization and Business model change for operational requirements, Culture change navigation, Organisational development, Employee Relations and Union negotiations. She is currently an active executive board member and was appointed on other boards previously as a board member at one of the largest ICT company. She's a registered HR professional with SABPP, a qualified and professional management coach and mentor, worked at leadership and business strategic levels as part of the EXCOs, General management teams, Board of directors. Linda Coetzee - Chartered HR Professional Member Since – 16 January 2017 Linda holds a Masters degree in Sociology from the University of the North-West. Currently, Linda is employed by a private Higher Education Institution (Regenesys Business School) which offers both academic and skills development programmes. She has been appointed as the Head of Executive Education. This position requires executive management of projects from inception to project closure for both private and public sectors. Linda keeps herself tuned to the needs of the learner through assessment and moderation practices. Keeping busy with ETD practices at this level ensures that she stays abreast with both learner and provider experiences which allows for a unique perspective on the education and training industry. Linda is passionate about the opportunities offered by skills development in South Africa and believes that it is the responsibility of each stakeholder to ensure quality and deep level learning through ethical practices. Linda has been active in curriculum and material development, assessment, moderation and verification for the past 12 years. She has been developing material for different entities from NQF level 2 up to NQF level 9. She has developed, reviewed and evaluated material for different purposes and believes well developed content is the foundation of the learning and development process.
SABPP 2018 Board Nominees David Cromhout - Chartered HR Professional Member Since – 04 March 1997 A highly qualified and professional Human Resources Practitioner that have served on the Boards of Interoc PTY Ltd, Ellerine Holdings PTY Ltd and Kranspoort Owners Committee Boards. Qualified to Master Certificate level with strong analytical, financial and team management skills has seen him competently manage major change, dealing with fluctuations and introducing new ways of addressing economic challenges. Is a problem solver with well proven abilities to generate ways to overcome serious challenges while being competent at both strategic and operational levels. David’s experience to date would ensure significant value to any Board requiring a senior professional in Human Resources fields. Achievements: Formed part of Team restructuring Atlas Copco and Interoc in 1999, Was part of the amalgamation of Ellerine Holdings and RELYANT Group in 2005. Drove the promotion from within policy at Ellerines and achieved major success with BBEEE goals. Restructured KOC and brought about major cost savings 2013, 2014 and 2016. Skills: Well regarded by colleagues and clients alike, Excellent Negotiator with experience in Retail and Farming Sectors, Well demonstrated staff relations and management skills, A strategist with great instinct to identify challenges and overcoming them, Political astute with good judgement, Committed to only delivering excellence displaying honesty and integrity Maphuta Diaz - Master HR Professional Member Since – 30 April 2014 Maphutha is armed with a Masters in Commerce obtained from UJ; Honours in Business Management from Unisa, as well as a Post-Graduate Diploma in Company Direction/Corporate Governance, from the GIMT. He is registered with the SABPP as Master HR Professional: Generalist and is currently studying towards a PhD in ER at the UJ on the “compliance by the South African platinum mining industry to the ILO standard on collective bargaining”. Maphutha’s last 4 positions have been as HR Executive; and General Manager. He is the founder of Bathokwa People Solutions, a consulting and training company specialising in HR, general management and employee relations. Maphutha was among the first four Auditors in SA to qualify as such and is currently a Lead Auditor, having audited and lead audit teams in various environments: financial services; institutions of higher learning; state-owned enterprises; regulatory environment; and a Chapter 9 Institution. Currently, Maphutha is mentor and coach for HR professionals and Management within one of the Government Departments. SABPP 2018 Board Nominees Malenhle Dlamini - Chartered HR Professional Member Since – 28 February 2011 Mr. Dlamini is a Chattered Human Resources Professional in good standing with SABPP. He is currently serving as a Chairperson of the SABPP Committee in KwaZulu-Natal from April 2016 to date. He has provided quality leadership to the members and proper guidance. He has worked very hard to uplift this profession and made SABPP known in various HR communities in the province. He has created good relations with local institutions of higher learning in the province. Mr. Dlamini has dedicated his time to do the work for SABPP voluntarily without any remuneration since he was elected as the chairperson. Mr. Dlamini has a wealth of experience in Human Resources field as all-rounder and specializing in Industrial Relations. Mr. Dlamini became known in 2016 after he successfully implemented the HR Standards in his organization and achieved an overall score of more than 75% during the HR Audit in 2015. He received the overall winner of the Best HR Audit award in 2016. Mr. Dlamini is currently working for a state owned enterprise Umgeni Water as Employee Relations and Wellness Manager. He has served in this portfolio for eight years and prior to that he was the Industrial Relations Officer in the same organization. He has also presented various HR topics on invitation to seminars and conferences. He has worked in various companies serving in different levels as Senior Human Resources Officer, Human Resources Practitioner and Personnel Officer. Mr. Dlamini has been in the field of Human Resources as a professional for over 22 years. He holds a number of qualifications ranging from Diploma in HHRM; Specialist HRM NQF 6; Advanced Programme in HRM NQF 7; BTECH in Management; BCOM Honours Degree in HRM & MDP. Ntombizone Feni - HR Professional Member Since – 13 July 2018 Ntombizone Feni is an Executive Director at 21st Century; one of the largest and highly experienced reward consultancies in Africa, which specialises in the design and implementation of output-driven reward solutions. Ntombizone holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Pretoria, with specialisation in International Relations (IR) and Political Science. It was however in the world of Human Resources (HR) that she landed her first job opportunity, coincidentally consulting for clients mainly in the public sector space.Due to her academic background in IR and Politics, Ntombizone learnt to successfully navigate and meaningfully contribute to HR projects of national impact and importance within the public sector. Ntombizone has facilitated skills audits such as “HR Connect”, for all government departments nationally and provincially, mandated by Cabinet under former President Thabo Mbeki’s administration; Consulted for Eskom in an enterprise-wide Skills Audit, and worked alongside the Mining Qualifications Authority in conducting a skills audit for the mining sector. She is also a registered Skills Development Facilitator, registered with ETDP SETA. At 21st Century, Ntombizone has managed niche Remuneration and Reward projects for various organisations and industries nationally and internationally. She is currently managing a Review of the Reward Framework for Public Office Bearers in South Africa. National Wage/Salary Increase Trends. At 21st Century, she is primarily responsible for establishing relationships and partnerships with key government institutions that drive policy implementation in the HR space, and Reward broadly, as well as managing major strategic projects. In her spare time, Ntombizone conducts career guidance workshops to students around Soweto alongside her husband, as well as alongside fellow UP Alumni through a co-founded programme called “Transform”. She is also from a musical family background of string instrument artists and quartets, and is a Saxophonist in training.
SABPP 2018 Board Nominees Pauline Gibbons - Master HR Professional Member Since – 30 January 2004 Pauls Gibbons has a M.A. Degree (Leading Innovation & Change) and a B. Com (Hons) Degree in Human Resource Management. Pauls is an accredited coach as well as a mentor. She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and a Master HR Professional registered with the South African Board for People Practice where she was a former Chair of the Ethics Committee. Pauls has over 20 years’ experience as an HR executive and a senior HR and OD consultant. Her skills include human resource strategy, change management, coaching, facilitation, job evaluation, organisational design and development, performance management, policy development, remuneration and reward, succession planning and talent management. Pauls is passionate about the SABPP National HR Standards and did her Master’s Research on the topic, in 2014. Charles Gilbert - Chartered HR Professional Member Since – 11 August 2017 A HR professional with 20 years Human Resources experience of which at least 10 year at Senior and Executive level and 2 years international experience, who is passionate about the profession. With an Honours degree in Human Resources, and his Masters in Management currently in progress, Charles has been very successful over the years in developing and implementing high level HR strategies as well as executive them successfully. He played an integral role in the changing landscape of higher the education through the successful implementation of various mergers in the mid 2000”s. I have a sound track record of partnering with business to ensure all HR processes are aligned to support business strategy. He is an accredited mediator and executive coach. His areas of strength include strategy development, dispute resolution and transformation and HR development. He is currently employed at Wits University as Human Resources Manager where is he is responsible for managing the Unit and also ensuring strategies are executed. He has very strong family values and applies those in the professional life as well. Over the years within the profession, I have continuously enhanced my tactical and diagnostic skills to ensure that HR processes add value to the business and build line management capabilities to deliver on their objectives through appropriate people management practices. I have developed extensive self-awareness skills over the years and have a sound work ethic, able to building strong relationship and my technical HR working knowledge and experience enables me to lead the HR department to the execution and achievement of the HR objectives.
SABPP 2018 Board Nominees Dr Wynand Goosen - Master HR Professional Member Since – 05 October 2006 Dr Wynand Goosen is the CEO of the Infomage Rims Group. The group is focused on programmes such as Generic Management (L5) Nat Diploma in HR (L5) New Venture Creation (L4) Contact Centre (L3) Assessor Training, SDF Training and various skills programmes. The group is responsible for the development of the Corporate Qualifications Framework, A precursor to OFO thinking that is used in Skills Auditing, RPL and in Performance Management. In 2011 the development of a Meta Business series aimed at the advancement of human awareness levels commenced. The Infomage Rims Group has been active in Skills Development Training since 2000 and spear headed several issues such as, the development of Reciprocal Frameworks for the recognition of South African qualifications in the rest of the world, The development of skills auditing and ISO based Quality Management Systems. During 2007 the group filmed their New Venture Creation Learnership for SABC Television. Dr Wynand Goosen comes from a background of Public and Private Training and Education; This includes organisations such as, The Learning Corporation and the Technikon Witwatersrand where he was Director of the business school. Dr Wynand Goosen holds a portfolio of qualifications that includes, Doctorates in Business, Meta Physics and Human Capital. He has board membership with several professional Organisations. Dr Wynand Goosen is a well-known conference speaker and has been quoted in the newspapers and interviewed for several television programs. Dayalan Govender - Master HR Professional Member Since – 28 January 2015 Dayalan holds a wide range of National and Internationally recognized qualifications in the areas of Education, Human Resource Development, Organisational Development (OD) , Change Management as well as in other management & leadership related disciplines. He has served as a Senior training advisor / evaluator at the SA police training academy, assistant director at the SA management development institute (SAMDI), as a lecturer at Technikon South Africa (TSA) & the University of SA (Unisa) and as a regional Academic manager. During his tenures he has worked on a whole range of OD, transformational programmes, management & leadership and capacity building projects over the last 18 years across SA and broader Africa. In addition to this, he has done work in Kenya, Zimbabwe and some work with the Mauritius PwC offices. He is currently a Partner within the Advisory division of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where he leads the People & Organization Competency across SA. Before joining PwC, Dayalan occupied a number of senior positions within Government and the higher Education sector and also functioned as an Academic in the area of Management & Leadership at Unisa. He has presented a number of papers internationally and also published a series of articles during his stint as an Academic. He is also an active member of the Institute for Directors (IoD – SA). Dayalan served successfully on the IPM – Board of Directors for the period 2011-2014. He has travelled abroad extensively and has acquired vast experience and knowledge in the areas of HRD, People & Change Management & People Development. He currently leads the Change management proposition for PwC across Africa and serves on the Global forum. Dayalan successfully completed his Masters in HRD and Lifelong learning at the University of Stellenbosch, and he is now currently in the midst of his doctorate studies.
SABPP 2018 Board Nominees Egmont Grebe - Master HR Professional Member Since – 30 April 2007 Egmont is a Managing Executive, as well as an experienced Management Advisor with a proven track record of successfully leading and managing complex business transformation and people initiatives. He holds a Master’s degree in Commerce, and is a registered Master Practitioner with the South African Board of People Practices since 2006. He has more than 20 years’ experience in defining, building, project managing and implementing business transformation, people advisory and technology solutions across multiple industry sectors and in multiple global locations. He works with organisations combining industrial psychology, technology and leadership management philosophy to drive behavioral changes that achieve significant advances in people, employee wellness, employee engagement, information technology, safety management and leadership performance. Egmont has excellent presentation and delivery experience; and has a superior ability to network at all levels of the organisation. He furthermore has the skill to lead and influence large teams, but can also work with, and direct small teams, and C Suite level executives. He worked across industries. Experience in specific industries such as Mining, Communications and High Technology, Financial and Insurance Services, Petrochemicals, Public Sector, Forestry, Higher Education, Transport, Food and Beverages and Retail are worth mentioning. He is comfortable to manage large budgets, with a focus on successful delivery within the specified timeframes. Egmont is known for his ability to successfully manage complex projects using his extensive experience and wide-ranging knowledge of different project management and organisation development methodologies and approaches. Delisile Gumbi - Chartered HR Professional Member Since – 25 February 2015 I am an astute Industrial Psychologist from KZN with humble beginnings. Shaped mostly by the University of Kwazulu Natal and UNISA, I have sound knowledge of the Human Resources environment gained over 30+ years, most of which has been in the Mining industry. My experience in strategic leadership is backed by studies from Business and Professional Women of South Africa (BPW SA) and Duke Corporate Education. The Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and membership in the current SABPP Board has further exposed me to learnings I am proud of. With my analytic approach, I elicit clients’ problems and design integrated solution-based alternatives. Adept in integrating people to strategies. My passion for technology combined with sound business acumen optimize people performance in all settings. Other professional membership includes Health Professional Council of SA (HPCSA, reg PS 0105309) and Society for Organisational Psychology of SA (SIOPSA) Professional knowledge and Skills Legislative Compliance; Corporate Governance; Advanced Labour Laws; Diversity and Inclusion; Change Management; Talent Management and Development; Professional Development; Leadership Development and Psychometric Assessments. Companies contributed in include Department of Education, Mangosuthu University of Technology, BHp Billiton, Exxaro Resources, Tronox, Mind System Connection and Kumba Iron Ore. In conclusion, my professional intent is not only to provide strategic direction to my own profession, but also to explore possibilities and interfaces our profession has with other fields of interest. An opportunity to serve on this platform would be a tremendous honour as it will provide me the opportunity to do and to live the above.
SABPP 2018 Board Nominees Dustin Hogg - Chartered HR Professional Member Since – 11 December 2013 Dustin is registered as a Chartered HR Professional with SABPP and holds a BCom Honours degree in Business Management from the University of South Africa (UNISA). He is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree with UNISA with the research focus area in Adult Learner Selfdirectedness. Dustin runs a successful training and consulting company primarily focused on leadership and supervisory development. He is a focused, performance driven and dynamic professional and has a diverse portfolio comprising of knowledge and experience in the following environments; Business Operations, Learning and Development as well as Occupational Health and Safety. He has more than a decade of hands on experience both on a strategic as well as operational level heading up several Training centers within the Mining and Minerals sector and has actively been involved in progressing the field through his passion for people development and growth. He currently sits as the Chairperson for the SABPP L&D committee. His motto - “Success is not an option, it’s a requirement.” Dr. Pierre Joubert – Master HR Practitioner Member Since – 04 October 1995 Pierre obtained a PhD in Industrial Sociology from the NWU and is currently the Head of Department: HRM at the Vaal University of Technology (VUT). He has a background in HR administration and has been an academic for the past 30 years. During this time he lectured a number of subjects in the HR field and developed new qualifications in HRM, HRD, Labour Relations Management and Management. He has contributed to textbooks on HRD, published numerous articles in research journals, acts as reviewer for journals, is an external moderator for numerous universities, presented several papers at national and international conferences and supervised a large number of students on masters and doctorate level. He is a member of SABPP for 23 years and a Master HR Practitioner, founding member and current chair of the HR Universities Forum and a member and vice-chair of the Higher Education Committee of the SABPP. Under his leadership the Department Human Resource Management of the VUT received full accreditation from the SABPP and he was instrumental in the alignment of the National HR Standards resulting in VUT being awarded for the best university in HR Standards alignment in 2016. Pierre is actively involved in the accreditation of Higher Education Institutions and developed a new accreditation system. He continuously advises universities on HR professionalism and curriculum development and works tirelessly and passionately to advance the objectives of the profession by developing future HR practitioners.
SABPP 2018 Board Nominees Rebecca Kolotsi - Chartered HR Professional Member Since – 25 June 2014 I hold BA (Psychology) from Western Cape University, Post Graduate Diploma (Human Resources Management) from Cape Town University and MBA from GIBS (University of Pretoria). The combination of Psychology, Human Resources Management and MBA makes me stand out in my field as a dependable, dynamic, commercial savvy and goal oriented Strategic HR Business Partner. I am passionate about Talent Management and Transformation and I have the ability to drive business results from HR management point of view. I am focused and self-driven Human Resources professional with multi-disciplinary experience across various industries, namely, Manufacturing; Mining; Consulting; State Owned Enterprises My skills encompass good written skills and command of the English language, discretion when handling confidential information, a keen eye for detail, ability to meet multiple deadlines, numerical ability, good organisational and interpersonal skills, ability to understand comprehensive information, ability to tap into various fraternity with a flexibility to multi-skill, ability to provide a diplomatic but managerial presence within a board room environment. Rachabane Kope - Chartered HR Professional Member Since – 30 March 2016 Rachabane Kope has over 24 years of experience in the field of human resources, acquired in various organisations and at various levels. Of those years, one year was with Spoornet as an intern Psychometrists, one year was in consulting with Coopers and Lybrand (now Price-Water House Coopers) as a Trainee Management Consultant, five years were with Iscor (now Mittal Steel) as an HR Consultant and later as an OD Consultant. He started with TOTAL S.A, as a Career and OD Consultant and he was promoted to Assistant Human Resources Manager, then to HR Manager: NBLS, looking after Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland subsidiaries as well as Corporate Marketing and Communications Department. He was with Total for six and half years. He moved to Wesbank as a Divisional HR Manager where he spent four years in that role. He is currently employed by the South African Revenue Services (SARS) as a Senior Manager: Leadership Development and Business Enablement and prior to that he fulfilled a role of Senior Manager: Business Partnering, still within SARS. Rachabane is also a member and a Vice-Chairperson of the sub-committee of the board (Mentoring and Coaching) of the South African Board for People’s Practices (SABPP) as well as Donor Committee Member for Egoli North Branch with the South African National Blood Services (SANBS). SABPP 2018 Board Nominees Roslyn Lodewyk - HR Professional Member Since – 07 June 2017 I was born and raised in Potchefstroom. I completed matric in 2001. I started university on 2002 where I studied B.Ed. for a year and in this I discovered that teaching was not what I wanted to do as a profession. Having supportive parents and by the grace of God I switched my coarse. The following year I started with my degree in behavioural sciences and I realised this was my calling to work with people. On completion of my first degree, I applied for a permanent job at the university which was an admin assist (secretary). By being an employee of the university the institution allowed me to complete my honours degree in Industrial psychology, I completed it part time and did it over 2 years. After completing my honours degree I applied for a new position in Human Resource Management, I was an Senior HR Officer. In HR I was exposed to a lot of aspects that links with HR in an organisation. I trained a lot of people and members of the institution with regards to performance management how they as management should use the instrument in order to management the people working under them more in an effective manner. I trained people with regards to new policies that was developed within the institution. I also was part of a process where as a group, we looked at succession planning in the organisation and ensure that the participants within the succession pool are trained and developed to occupy more senior position. An important function within HR that was my responsibility was psychometric testing, people were recruited and career pathing was also done in order to better our institution. I realised that HR is a critical aspect in organisations. Sivaan Marie - Chartered HR Professional Member Since – 31 July 2013 I am registered as a Chartered HR Professional with the SABPP, as well as a Lead HR Auditor, having won the SABPP HR Auditor of the Year award for 2016. I have appreciable experience in HR Standards Auditing. I am a Law graduate of the University of Natal and I completed the Management for Service Excellence training with the Disney Institute. I completed the Beyonder Phase 1 Training (Developing Whole Brain Competence and Performance) with the Kobus Neethling Brain Institute, and completed the Retail Management Development Programme via the University of Pretoria. I completed Negotiation Techniques training via the world-renowned Scotwork. I hold certificates in various aspects of Labour Law from UNISA, and regularly attend the Van Zyl Rudd & Associates Labour Law update Seminars to keep abreast of the evolving legislative landscape. I have completed an International Leadership Development Programme through Henley Business School, and am presently completing a Masters in Law, through UNISA. I also hold a DTI approved Management Development Programme: B-BBEE, from WITS. I presently serve as Human Capital & Transformation Director within a JSE listed (Top 40) Group of Companies. SABPP 2018 Board Nominees Sindiswa Ruth Maseko -Master HR Professional Member Since – 09 March 2006 A graduate of Dr Bill Winston’s Joseph Business School, Chicago USA, Sindiswa Ruth Maseko serves under the great anointing of Bishop DA & Only Lady, Neela Lazarus of Siloam Ministries. Sindiswa holds a qualification in theology, and she is one of Milpark Business Schools’ Alumni’s after graduating with an MBA degree. She is a certified Ethics Officer with the Ethics SA. She is currently studying for her PhD in Leadership. She has been involved in Christian ministry for a number of years, and working with Siloam Ministries – millions of lives have been touched around the globe through various humanitarian projects, relief efforts and community service initiatives. She is a mother who balances career, ministry and family. Sindiswa has been an active member of the SABPP since 2006. She is a current board member and also the Chairperson of the SABPP Ethics committee. She has been operative as a strategic business advisor to corporates, supports change management initiatives, business, mentorship and counselling. She is passionate about serving in certain industries, giving back to communities, and being a voice of reason. Busisiwe Mashiane - Master HR Professional Member Since – 29 May 2013 Busisiwe (Busi) Mashiane is the Group Executive: Human Resources for African Rainbow Minerals (ARM), a position she has held since July 2014, after being promoted from the position of Executive: Human Resources since December 2011 from the Human Resources Manager: Corporate position, since July 2006. She holds, a B. Administration Degree in Industrial Psychology, Honours Degree in Industrial Psychology, a Labour Relations Certificate and Master’s Degree in Business Leadership with Change Management Elective (distinction) and completed her Research Thesis on the topic “Transformational barriers against women advancement in South African Platinum Mines” (distinction). Busi’s article met the publishing requirements of the University of South Africa (Unisa). She is currently enrolled with Cranefield College for a PhD in Commerce and Administration investigating the following topic “Ensuring effective transformation in the South African Mining Industry by integrating black professionals in talent management”. Busi has held a number of Human Resources Generalist positions during her career, growing and developing her skills from operational Human Resources to strategic Human Resources. During the past 21 years, she has served in a number of committees and led national and international Human Resources Teams including Africa, the United Kingdom, Europe, Switzerland and the Indian Ocean Region. SABPP 2018 Board Nominees Sello Masubelele - HR Professional Member Since – 13 July 2010 I am a teacher at heart, passionate about learning and people whiles enjoying knowledge and information sharing. My life is simple but clear. I approach everyday as if is my last day. My current role is Group Learning Manager. My daily responsibilities include helping the Group to realise their strategic learning objectives through facilitation of their respective business skills priorities and engage with various stakeholders. Successfully guided the Liviero Group on the development and implementation of the LAYR model- Known as Lift As You Rise learning strategy. The model introduced unemployed Youth including black females in Construction and Mining sectors through Learnership programmes, Internships and bursary programmes. As part of our SLP contribution within the Mining sector unemployed youth were recruited to participate in our historic Artisan Development Programme. I must also indicate that as part of the LAYR model we successfully introduced Adult Basic Education and Training (ABET) within our Plant business which is bearing positive fruits/successful. As part of the model we launched University Expo whereby we visit Universities across the country to market our Graduate Development initiative. I am successfully acting as the Group Skills Development facilitator and Chairperson of the Group skills development committees, thereby helping to drive education and awareness across the business units with reference to diversity and Employment Equity. Fika Mathe - Chartered HR Professional Member Since – 31 July 2013 I was born and raised in KwaZulu-Natal. After completing my matric in 2003 at Tisand Technical High School, I joined the University of KwaZulu-Natal where I pursued a degree in Social Science, which I completed in 2007. I started my career in HR as an intern in the Department of Defence 10 years ago and have grown from one level to the other over the years. I then pursued postgraduate studies in HR Management with the University of Johannesburg in 2011, and completed in 2012. These studies equipped me to be able to function at management level. I also did critical modules such as Financial Management for Non- Financial Managers, Strategic Management, Change Management and others that are of great value in my every functioning as a professional. I have working experience in Corporate Services: Human Resources, General Administration, and Enterprise Risk management, including coordinating of Audit and Risk Committee functions within the Public, Para-statal and Private sectors, with most of my experience in the legal services sector. I am also an involved community leader, which has further broadened my people and organisational management skills. I have founded and led a church on a part-time basis for the past 3 years. SABPP 2018 Board Nominees Marius Meyer - Master HR Professional Member Since – 29 September 1994 Marius Meyer is an HR academic affiliated to the Department of Industrial Psychology at Stellenbosch University and is the previous CEO of SABPP. Marius facilitated training and consulting interventions for more than 200 companies. Previously Marius lectured in HR at Technikon SA, University of South Africa and University of Johannesburg. He has been an HR practitioner, consultant, academic, board member and manager for the past 24 years. Marius is registered as a Master HR Professional with SABPP. He is also a member of the Institute of Directors. He was an advisory board member of the African Society for Talent Development and founding member of Talent Talks, South Africa’s first talent management platform and magazine. Marius is a regular speaker at local and international conferences and author of 26 books and 500+ articles. He has a passion for leadership, strategy, governance, organisation development, change management and people development. Under his leadership a significant output of the SABPP team was the National HR Competency Model, as well as a full set of national HR standards, the first set of national HR standards in the world. A comprehensive HR audit framework has been developed to audit application of the HR standards within companies, which is also the first national HR audit unit in the world. In 2017 Marius steered the process of developing the first South African Leadership Standard. He holds a Masters’ degree in Industrial and Organisational Psychology. He is professionally registered as Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), and as a Master Human Resources Practitioner with the South African Board for People Practice (SABPP) in the category of OD, Coaching and Mentoring, and finally as a Social worker with the South African Council for Social Services Professions (SACSSP). Mochabo had submitted a PhD degree thesis in consulting psychology at UNISA. His thesis focused on the construction of a psycho-social model for enhancing team effectiveness and engagement at a financial institution. He was supervised by Prof Nico Martins. Mochabo has more than 28 years in the broader spectrum of people management. From 1 March 2012 until 31 March 2016 was a member of Independent Council Authority of South Africa (ICASA) Board serving in the Remuneration and Human Resources committee. ICASA is a Chapter 9 Constitutional Institution established by Section 192 of the 1996 Republic of South Africa Constitution to give effect to section 16 (Freedom of Expression) of the Bills of Rights. SABPP 2018 Board Nominees Joyce Moroole - Chartered HR Professional Member Since – 28 June 2007 Joyce brings over 15 years of human resources experience. Her expertise include talent management, 360 degree leadership assessments, organizational development, change management, mentoring & coaching, integrated risk management and quality management (ISO 9001: 2015). Her career as a Processing Clerk at Absa Bank started in 1999 and later left the sector to pursue her dream career in Human Resources. From 2001- 2006 she worked for the Department of Labour driving skills development strategies and moved to Youth Commission as HR Practitioner where she developed HR policies, processes and systems. In 2007 she joined Eskom as an Organisational Development Advisor responsible for developing HR Practitioners in delivering Organisational development activities, facilitating team building activities, coordinating HR risk registers and uploading on the IRM system. Having been in the environment, she realised that managers were not recognised for their outstanding contributions and initiated the Leadership category award for managers. This category was well received and later adopted throughout Eskom. Prof Logan Naidoo - Master HR Professional Member Since – 01 August 1995 Prof Logan D. Naidoo currently serves on the Board of SABPP. During his tenure, he has supported the further development of the HR Professional Practice Standards with the National Leadership Standards being something close to his heart. He has also actively promoted SABPP amongst his academic colleagues, students and HR practitioners. Logan has been a member of SABPP for almost 30 years and has achieved the level of Master Human Resource Practitioner (MHRP). He has an in depth understanding of the practical and theoretical aspects of HR and Employee and Labour Relations. This he gleaned from 20 years as an administrator, eventually occupying the most senior administrative position, and from a further 20 years as an academic. He is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Human Resource Management at the Mangosuthu University of Technology in Umlazi, Durban. Logan, who holds a PhD in Admin and a B. Com Honours in Industrial Relations, is a regular attendee at HR conferences and has published widely both locally and internationally. He has a special interest and focus in Leadership and Ethics.
