Recent press release related to Georgia Severe Storm and Tornadoes:

“Red Cross Responding to Deadly Southern Tornadoes

      January 13, 2023
The American Red Cross is responding in Alabama and Georgia after multiple
deadly tornadoes struck the region Thursday, causing widespread damage.

More than 42,000 customers remain without power across the two states. Selma,
Alabama was particularly hard hit where a tornado bearing winds of about 111
mph was on the ground for about 50 miles, causing damage in multiple counties.
States of emergency have been declared in both states and officials say recovery
      and clean-up efforts are underway.

Trained Red Cross disaster workers are on the ground in both states, providing
shelter, meals and comfort to people in the affected areas. The Red Cross is
monitoring the situation with local and state officials to determine what assistance
is needed and will help assess the damages and distribute relief supplies over
      the weekend.

YOU CAN HELP people affected by disasters like storms and countless other
crises by making a gift to Red Cross Disaster Relief. Your gift enables the Red
Cross to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from disasters big and
small. Visit redcross.org, call 800-RED-CROSS, or text the word REDCROSS to
      90999 to make a $10 donation.

FIND A SHELTER If you need a safe place to stay or a hot meal, find open
shelters on redcross.org, the free Red Cross Emergency app or by calling 1-800-
RED CROSS (800-733-2767) and selecting the disaster option. You can also find
shelters by following your local county and city officials on social media or
      monitoring local news.

AFTER THE TORNADO Let friends and family know you’re safe. If evacuated,
return only when authorities say it is safe to do so.

Check for injuries. If you are trained, provide first aid to persons in need until
      emergency responders arrive.
Stay out of damaged buildings.
Watch out for fallen power lines or broken gas lines and report them to the utility
      company immediately.
Watch animals closely and keep them under your direct control.
Help people who require additional assistance—infants, older adults, those
without transportation, large families who may need additional help in an
emergency situation, people with disabilities, and the people who care for them.
Continue listening to local news or a NOAA Weather Radio for updated
      information and instructions..
If someone smells gas or hears a hissing noise, they should open a window, get
everyone out of the building immediately and call the gas company or fire
      department
Use flashlights, not candles when examining buildings.”
