– ARBOUR ECO – – OUR VISION – ARBOUR ECO Embodying the concept that design should follow construction, Andreas Engesvik and Daniel Rybakken’s Arbour is assembled from separate components that have been independently produced for optimal comfort, quality, and efficiency. This sofa was developed with an intention to create a durable sofa that would qualify for the Nordic Swan Ecolabel within the European market, and it features FSC- certified wood for the frame and selected, eco-labelled upholsteries for the covers. The seat and back cushions are made in carefully balanced proportions, with identical side cushions creating a sense of harmony and offering the opportunity for multiple comfortable sitting or lying positions, while the frame creates a strong yet elegant profile with an architectural quality. With its logical construction and uncluttered design language, Arbour Eco fuses its distinctly Scandinavian aesthetics with high comfort and great durability.

– ARBOUR ECO – SCANDINAVIAN SUSTAINABILITY Denmark’s first Nordic Swan Ecolabel sofa, with an environmental profile and an authentically Scandinavian aesthetic, Arbour Eco is distinguished by clean, honest simplicity and the high quality of its materials. Arbour Eco uses Oeko-Tex foam, EU-Ecolabelled textiles and FSC-certified wood. It is built to last, with parts that can be repaired individually – without replacing the whole sofa. The Nordic Swan Ecolabel works to reduce the environmental impact from the production and consumption of goods. Products with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel are free from harmful chemicals such as phthalates, heavy metals, brominated flame retardants, and fluorinated substances. Beyond looking at the raw materials used for a given product, the Nordic Swan Ecolabel requirements also include usage, disposal and recycling, Before a product receives the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, it must provide documentation that it meets all environmental requirements as well as quality requirements, to ensure that it will have a long life, which further limits waste. PETIT STANDARD DESIGN BY DANIEL RYBAKKEN 27/07/20
– PETIT STANDARD – PETIT STANDARD The result of an eight-year journey, Daniel Rybakken’s Petit Standard is a study in precision and considered details. With the objective of creating a highly stackable chair, where the stackable features would actually enhance the chair’s design, Petit Standard fuses elegance and functionality in an iconic design. Using die-cast aluminium and steel tubes that connect into a three-dimensional triangle, the lightweight frame has a distinctively geometric silhouette, which is counterbalanced by the warmth and natural quality of the oak- veneer seat and backrest. The high back and curved seat ensure great comfort, while the rigid tubing optimises the chair’s strength and stacking ability, making it ideal for corporate environments, educational institutions, and private settings.
– PETIT STANDARD – DANIEL RYBAKKEN Born in 1984, Daniel Rybakken grew up in Oslo, Norway. He studied design at the Oslo School of Architecture and the School of Arts & Crafts in Gothenburg, Sweden before beginning his own practice there in 2008. Rybakken has received numerous awards, including the “Best of the Best” Red Dot Award in Singapore in 2007; the Anders Jahre’s Cultural Prize for Young Artists in Oslo in 2008; the Design Report Award for best designer at Salone Satellite in Milan in 2009; the Bruno Mathsson Award in 2011 and the London Design Medal and the Golden Chair from the Swedish Association of Architects in 2013. Focusing on the power of daylight, his work occupies the area between art and design, including limited editions, art installations, and prototypes for serial production. For HAY, he has designed Petit Standard, and Arbour Eco, in collaboration with Andreas Engesvik.
– PETIT STANDARD – ORIGINAL AND WELL BALANCED Petit Standard is an elegant, stackable chair with a powerful aesthetic profile. It is distinguished by the seamless appearance of its steel- tube frame and the triangle formed by its rear legs and back support. This triangle contributes to the chair’s strength and lightness, both of which are important characteristics of a stackable chair. “This chair is fresh, it has its own language, and it is an original and brave design project. Aesthetically, it manages to maintain its originality while also keeping good proportions and balance in a more classic sense. Petit Standard avoids assaulting you with its difference: but you can see immediately that it stands apart from anything else.” _ Rolf Hay
8
– PETIT STANDARD – DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS From a design point of view, this chair is markedly different in the seamlessness of its frame. Often, the aesthetic of chairs like this is disrupted by the technical question of how to connect the steel tubes that comprise the frame. But with Petit Standard, all the links are made from die-cast aluminium and have been hammered and glued together with the steel, so there are no visible weldings. This results in a very elegant silhouette with no interruptions to the fluidity of the line.
12
– PETIT STANDARD – LIGHT, STRONG AND STACKABLE Petit Standard can be stacked with up to 12 pieces, producing a gap of only 6 mm between each chair. This makes it a good option for high-traffic and potentially compact environments such as cafes and restaurants. Due to its light weight, it is easy to maneuvre and is therefore also useful in larger spaces such as conference and meeting rooms or auditoriums. “Petit Standard is not only a nice chair when it’s on the floor. It’s also very sculptural when you stack it, especially if the stack includes different colours of the chair. Even a stack of Petit Standard chairs adds something special to a space.” - Rolf Hay

DORSO DESIGN BY GAMFRATESI 08/04/2020
– DORSO – DORSO Inspired by the shifting curves of a human torso in motion, GamFratesi’s Dorso combines a rounded exterior with a rotating base, creating a relaxing and functional lounge chair. Dorso’s compact dimensions, swivel mechanism, and high level of comfort make it suitable for many different contexts, ranging from conference rooms, lounges, and waiting areas in public environments to homes and other private settings. – DORSO – A ROTATING LOUNGE CHAIR Dorso is a sleek, compact lounge chair with an integrated swivel mechanism. It has a beautiful shape and a comfortable seat, as well as a surprise function not often found in a four-legged lounge chair: 360 degrees of rotation. A chair with a swivel-base is a highly practical chair that allows its user increased flexibility. This quality makes Dorso an interesting addition to a range of public environments, including lobbies and lounges. It would also work well in the domestic sphere, especially as it offers great comfort in a compact design and can fit into limited space.

REVOLT DESIGN BY FRISO KRAMER FOR AHREND, RELAUNCHED TOGETHER WITH HAY 08/04/2020
– REVOLT – REVOLT Originally created by Friso Kramer while working at Ahrend in the 1950s, the Revolt Chair has been relaunched by HAY together with Ahrend. One of Friso Kramer’s most famous designs, the Revolt Chair embodies his distinctive minimalist style; a revolutionary design and choice of materials that uses a bent sheet steel frame instead of a traditional tubular frame. Reproduced today using the same process, the chair retains the functionality and resilient construction of its mid-century precursor, but in a sustainable material choice comprising a mix of recycled and virgin ABS in different colour options. A dynamic and flexible chair, Revolt’s ergonomic design moves with its user, offering active support while working, eating or sitting in conferences. Its comfort, durability and timeless aesthetics make it suitable for using in a wide variety of private, corporate or public spaces.
– REVOLT – FRISO KRAMER Friso Kramer was born in Amsterdam in 1922. After graduating in Interior Design from the Institute of Applied Arts in Amsterdam, he worked as a designer from 1948-1963 at De Cirkel, a manufacturer of steel furniture that had merged with the Ahrend group in 1939. It was while at DeCirkel that Kramer met Dutch industrial designer Wim Rietveld, with whom he would later collaborate. Kramer subsequently worked as Art Director of the Ahrend Group from 1971-1983. Notable designs include his two concrete benches with low and high backs designed for public spaces, the Revolt Chair in 1953, and the Result Chair, which he designed together with Wim Rietveld in 1958. Alongside his design work, Friso Kramer also held many administrative roles in art and design institutions and academies, both in his homeland and overseas, and he lectured at the Royal Academy for Fine Arts in The Hague. Together with Ahrend, HAY has relaunched selected Friso Kramer designs - the Result Chair and the Revolt Chair.
– REVOLT – REVOLT A PIECE OF HISTORY Both the Result Chair and the Revolt Chair are undeniably iconic chairs in the history of contemporary European design. They represent the mission of their maker, Friso Kramer, who sought eternally to innovate new ways to work with current materials and technology in order to make affordable products for the masses. In that way, both chairs reflect HAY’s mission as well. While they are different in their aesthetic and in their functionality, both Result and Revolt embody a revolution. To make them, Friso Kramer pioneered a new technique that employed pressed sheet steel rather than steel tube. This allowed for a decrease in the amount of material used, and subsequently created a more affordable product that could be produced on an industrial scale for mass consumption.
– REVOLT – DYNAMIC COMFORT One of Revolt’s standout features is its extreme comfort. This results from its flexible, sheet steel frame and from the movement of the backrest, which is enabled by a rubber washer attached to the frame. Revolt is a “task chair” without the tell-tale signs of that typology: it has no casters, no gas lift, and no adjustments, and yet it is an intelligent chair that supports the user no matter how she moves or what she is doing.
– REVOLT – A SUSTAINABLE CONTEMPORARY PROFILE Since Revolt is a relaunch of a classic product, we chose to give our version a contemporary advantage: a more environmental profile. Revolt uses a mix of recycled and virgin ABS for its seat and back, and the steel sheet of its legs and frame allows us to cut down on quantity of material used, thereby creating less waste. In terms of colour, we were inspired by the colours Friso Kramer chose when he introduced the Revolt Chair in 1953. Those original hues have been slightly modified in tone or saturation for a more contemporary touch, and to make them suitable additions to the HAY range. 10

PANDARINE DESIGN BY INGA SEMPÉ 08/04/2020
– PANDARINE – PANDARINE Inga Sempé’s Pandarine fuses the luxurious comfort of a bed with the versatility of a modular sofa in an elegant and versatile design. The armrests come either in a cylindrical form, or with a reclining design that can be adjusted individually in the same way as the metal-hinged backrests. This gives Pandarine the ability to transform into a unified, mattress-like surface where the backrests serve as huge, soft pillows. Constructed using a combination of Nozag springs, foam, and wadding, Pandarine is designed to provide exceptional comfort in any number of sitting or lying positions. Available in two- and three-seater versions with options for additional chaise longues and corner modules, its range of textiles and configurations give it great flexibility for use in a variety of private and public contexts. Pandarine 3 Seater with reclining armrest, Lola navy, Maroon stained oak legs
– PANDARINE – INGA SEMPÉ Inga Sempé is a French designer who lives and works in Paris. A graduate of the Ecole Nationale Superieure de Création Industrielle (ENSCI) in Paris (1993), she also took up a scholarship at the Villa Medici, Académie de France in Rome (2000 - 2001). She was awarded the Red Dot Design Award in 2007. Her work is known for a lightness of touch, for a strong personality and for a particularly tactile nature. The idea of everyday use is at the centre of Sempé’s approach and she often seeks out materials with special properties to answer the need of a daily function. For HAY, she has created the idiosyncratic accessories Letter Box, Pinorama, Ruban, Panier, Matin Table Lamp and Pandarine. Pandarine 3 Seater with cylindrical armrest, Raas 562
– PANDARINE – DYNAMIC COMFORT Pandarine is a highly functional sofa. With ample, generous seating space and fully adjustable backrests and armrests, it enables users to create the ideal environment for whatever they are doing. It is also an extremely comfortable sofa, constructed using a combination of Nozag springs, foam, and wadding. And unlike most pieces of luxuriously comfortable furniture, Pandarine has a light and elegant profile. This sofa works well in a home setting where the sofa or living room is the centerpiece for family life, as it can be adjusted to suit any kind of activity, from taking a nap, to sitting and chatting with friends, to studying or working from home, to watching TV.

– PANDARINE – ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES Pandarine is modifiable in a myriad of ways, including its choice of armrest, both of which support the user in any endeavor. The cylindrical armrest option has an understated elegance that recalls traditional sleeping sofas. It also provides the opportunity to configurate the sofa in many arrangements in big spaces, while dividing and ensuring seating comfort. The hinged, flat armrest, which can be adjusted in the same way as the sofa back, has a more contemporary silhouette and a dynamic nature. “Beds are the most comfortable pieces of furniture that exist, especially if you add a large choice of pillows to fit all the positions you want to hold. Pandarine is meant to exist like a bed: a soft mattress, on which the backrests are like huge and soft, foldable pillows. The armrests are like comfortable bolsters, where you can also rest your head if a nap is on the program.” _ Inga Sempé

SOFT EDGE BAR STOOL & LOUNGE CHAIR DESIGN BY ISKOS-BERLIN 08/04/2020
– SOFT EDGE – SOFT EDGE COLLECTION Iskos-Berlin’s Soft Edge series was originally created by exploring innovative developments in moulded plywood techniques. The Copenhagen-based design duo collaborated with HAY to push the boundaries of industrial moulding, combining strong curves with extreme lightness to create a minimalistic design with dynamic comfort. All the edges of the ultra-thin, soft-formed seats are bent away from the body, designed to optimise human-centric comfort for constant shifting and movement. The series comprises chairs, lounge chairs, and stools and bar stools, offering frames in wood or steel, while the seat is made in 2D plywood or plastic (PP) – both materials available in a variety of finishes and colours with selected upholstery options. The strength, flexibility and comfort of the series make it well suited to a wide range of public and private environments – from corporate spaces and cafés to home environments.
– SOFT EDGE – ISKOS-BERLIN Iskos-Berlin is the design partnership of Aleksej Iskos and Boris Berlin, which was founded in 2010 and is based in Copenhagen. Together, the founding partners work across the fields of industrial, furniture, and graphic design. The pair previously worked together at Komplot Design: Berlin was a founding member in 1987, with Iskos joining the practice in 1999. Berlin (b. 1958) is from St. Petersburg, Russia, and is a graduate of the city’s Institute of Applied Arts, while Iskos (b. 1965) is from Kharkov, Ukraine, and has studied architecture, engineering, and industrial design in both Ukraine and Denmark. Their approach is to “see design as an art of storytelling” and they pay particular attention to the materiality of objects, often letting this define the language of their designs. Their exploratory nature often results in products that utilise new technologies and materials. For HAY, Iskos- Berlin have created the Soft Edge series of chairs and stools.
– SOFT EDGE – SUSTAINABLE HIGHLIGHTS The Soft Edge products that are built from moulded plywood, all have edges of the seat and back that are softly bent, making it possible to achieve strong and stable items of just 6 mm of material - instead of what is normally 10 mm - drastically reducing consumption and waste. The rational, optimized construction of Soft Edge’s tubular frame and solid wood frame versions in combination with the reduced quantity of veneer required to make any Soft Edge product result in an environmentally friendly product.
– SOFT EDGE – SOFT EDGE BAR STOOL The Soft Edge Bar Stool offers an ergonomic seating solution for extended periods of time due to its increased level of back support. This makes it well suited for many environments, from a restaurant or cafe to a kitchen island or elevated office desk. SOFT EDGE LOUNGE The Soft Edge Lounge is our first stackable lounge chair. Compact and extremely comfortable, it has a small environmental footprint and a modest yet striking aesthetic profile.
