6 Australia Day Celebrations It was great to see so many members of the community coming along to celebrate Australia Day. We started off with our usual Aussie breakfast, followed with some outdoor and indoor games. The winners and runner up to the Rabbit Trap Throw and Rolling Pin Toss. Sheilas Rabbit Trap Throw: 1st Janice ( Black Hill) R/up Vicki McQuie Blokes Rabbit Trap Throw: 1st Matt Sanson R/up Vic Taylor Blokes Rolling Pin Toss: 1st Cory Folezzani R/up Matt Sanson st Sheilas Rolling Pin Toss: 1 Vicki McQuie R/up Jo Brown After the outdoor games everyone wandered indoors to test their knowledge on 6 rounds of Aussie quiz questions and 1 round of picture memory test. The winning team being Sandstone Scorchers with a total of 53 ½. The Scorchers consisted of Vicki McQuie, David McQuie, Lana Lefroy, David Lefroy, Gary Kjellgren and Freda May. The other three teams were close behind with the Sandstone Terrors and Sand- stone Eagles on 49 ½ and the Bush Chooks 43 ½. We also had guess the Locals Photo Competition which consisted of photos of locals when they were young or babies. This was also won by the Scorchers table with an amazing score of 19 out of 22. To be fair to the other tables the Scorchers probably had an advantage with all of them being long term residents. Happy birthday to Kerry Key who celebrates his birthday on Australia Day. Kerry was lucky this year to have a birthday cake with candles, which Katie kindly provided. A big thank you to Freda and Karan who helped cooked the breakfast and to David Lefroy and David McQuie for overseeing the Rabbit Trap Throw and the Rolling Pin Toss. Thanks everyone for bringing your community spirit along and joining in, making our celebrations a really fun day. Beth Walton 6
