Welcome! The UTSA Fraternity|Sorority Community welcomes you to the University of Texas at San Antonio. Our Community is made up of 30+ chapters and over 1,000 students who have created a home away from home for themselves here on campus. Although each chapter is unique in origin, history, membership and rituals, every fraternity and sorority holds firmly to common values of unity, excellence, involvement and self-development. We invite you to look into all of the unique experiences and opportunities that our community has to offer. The core values of our community are Leadership, Scholarship, involvement, Service and Social Development. The UTSA Fraternity|Sorority community represents an outstanding group of students who achieve their dreams and succeed on a daily basis. Membership in the community also comes with unparalleled opportunities for involvement and leadership; whether it be positions within a chapter, opportunities in governing councils, students are put on the fast track to a multitude of opportunities that can enhance their college experience and develop them into strong leaders. Additionally, the personal enrichment that accompanies the brotherhood or sisterhood of a Fraternity or Sorority proves to be the most everlasting friendships that last far beyond the four years in college. In this brochure we will introduce to our governing councils and the chapters in each council!
Interfraternity Council If you are up for a fun and interesting rollercoaster ride of life long memories, leadership experience, and brotherhood, then Fraternity membership is the place for you. The fraternities in IFC at UTSA offer a home to just about any man at our University. Fraternity membership places emphasis on leadership, service, academics, and social interaction with fellow students. Men interested in joining an IFC fraternity should meet as many fraternity members during both the fall and spring semesters to learn about the various activities sponsored by each chapter. IFC will host a formal rush period each semester; signups can be found on RowdyLink! The more members a student meets, the more options are likely to be available to them. Multicultural Greek Council The Multicultural Greek Council (MGC)was established to create and maintain high standards in the life of culturally-based Fraternities and Sororities by addressing, managing, and creating strategic programming; to unify organizations involved in MGC; and to have a positive relationship between MGC, other fraternity/sorority councils, the university student body and administration, thus improving campus life. MGC does not hold structured/formal recruitment events together. Each organization conducts recruitment or membership intake on their own. Those interested in joining a MGC organization should contact the president of the individual organization. Each semester MGC will host a Showcase, where you can get to know the individual chapters! National Pan-Hellenic Council The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is a composed of historically African American Greek-lettered fraternities and sororities. The nine NPHC organizations are sometimes collectively referred to as the "Divine Nine". NPHC fraternities and sororities recruit throughout the year and membership requirements and programs vary by organization. The process is referred to as "intake" Each group will host an interest meeting and this will happen in the fall or spring semester where a student can officially express their interest and receive details about what is required to attain membership with their group. At the beginning of each semester, NPHC will sponsor "Meet the Greeks," a program to inform prospective members about each individual organization.
