The only way that we can keep the magazine financially .................................... Fun Run
viable is to provide post-race coverage to those Long Island Sat. December 31........ Clubhouse Fun Run
events that purchase pre-race advertising from us. In short,
we support the events that support GLIRC and its magazine.
That’s why there was so much post-race coverage of the Cow
Harbor 10K in the magazine and no post-race coverage of
   some other races.
We simply can’t afford to have any other policy. Post
race coverage means more pages in the magazine, which LAPTOPS AND/OR TABLETS
increases the cost of producing the magazine, and covering NEEDED!
races that don’t support the magazine (a) wouldn’t be fair Got an old (but functioning) laptop
to those races that support us through their advertising, or tablet that you don’t use anymore?
and (b) would put us out of business!
Or maybe even a new device that you simply don’t use?
Please note, however, that when you do an off-Long GLIRC will gladly take it off your hands!
Island race we do cover it. We can’t expect the Jacksonville
Marathon to advertise with us (tho’ we would love it if they We need to have several devices available for in-person
did!), but when a few GLIRC members go down there to do registration at our events, and time has taken a toll on our

in the magazine. If you have an unused (but working!) laptop or tablet
sitting around, please consider donating it to the Club. (We
will wipe it clean of any personal data, if not already done.)

Scholarship: A check in the amount of $2000 will be awarded to one or more graduating Nassau or Suffolk County high
school seniors, chosen on the basis of involvement in, and service to, the Long Island running community.

In order to qualify for the Scholarship, you must submit a paper describing your involvement in, and service to, the running
community, as well as your personal running accomplishments.

Please keep in mind that we are not necessarily interested in the star of the high school track or cross-country team. Instead,
for example, we want to recognize the student who helped raise funds to send the team to an out-of-town meet, or who helped
organize a road race or track meet to help out a local charity. The key is that this is a SERVICE-oriented scholarship rather than
one based on athletic accomplishments.

* Submitted papers are to be a maximum of three pages in length, typed and double-spaced. *
Please also provide the names and contact information of two references (no relatives please).

Applications may be submitted online via Google Form (see glirc.org for details) with all attachments ON OR BEFORE APRIL
4, 2022. Alternately, a hard copy may be mailed to the attention of the Scholarship Program Director and must be
POSTMARKED ON OR BEFORE APRIL 4, 2022:
