Priority on the Course In the absence of special rules, two ball matches should have precedence of and be entitled to pass any three or four ball match. A single player has no standing and should give way to a match of any kind. Any match playing a whole round is entitled to pass a match playing a shorter round. If a match fails to keep its place on the course and loses more than one clear hole on the players in front, it should allow the match following to pass. In the case of a lost ball, the match following should be called through without delay. 21st Anniversary Celebrating 21 years of Golf in Dunmore East. From both committees we would like to thank the Skehan Family, for their foresight in developing a Golf Club in Dunmore in 1993. Not alone has it given it’s members & vistors such great enjoyment, it is also an amenity for local sporting & charitable groups to run classics for fundraising. Heres to another 21 years plus! Captain Seamus & Captain Martina 22
Men’s Rules of Competition 2014 Regarding men’s competitions held in Dunmore East Golf Club the following should be noted: 1. To be eligible for any prize, membership must be paid to date. 2. To be eligible for President’s Prize, a competitor must have submitted three cards from previous 18 Hole competitions held in the club in the previous twelve months up to the 9th May 2014 3. To be eligible for Captain’s Prize, a competitor must have submitted three cards from previous 18 Hole competitions held in the club during 2014 4. It is the responsibility of each member to maintain his own handicap. (See Rule 13 of the Standard Scratch Score and Handicapping Scheme) i.e. to adjust his handicap immediately and to inform the handicap Secretary accordingly. 5. There is a Club rule that competitors return their card at the end of every 18 Hole Competition (a player who fails to return his card is ineligible for the next 18 Hole competition) 6. Any changes made on the scorecard must be initialled by the marker. 7. To be eligible for selection to represent the club in GUI team competitions (i.e. Jimmy Bruen etc.) during 2014, four cards from GUI recognised competitions played in the previous twelve months up to 01/11/13 are required to be returned to the club. 23
8. If a member puts his name on a time sheet for a competition, it is expected that he will be present at the allotted time. As a courtesy to fellow members, please give ample notice if you cannot attend. (Failure to attend may lead to disqualification from next competition) 9. In a sponsored competition, a member who has won a prize must attend the prize giving to collect his prize. Please note that the onus is on the competitor to check if he has won a prize – the club should not have to contact him. Under special circumstances he may nominate a club member to collect his prize (a committee member, or member of the Club staff, cannot collect a prize on his behalf.) 10. Before the competition, please check the notice board in the clubhouse reception for any new information or local rules. 11. Please check in at clubhouse reception a t least 15 minutes before your tee time. Also always check into clubhouse reception prior to commencing any round of golf. 12. BEFORE PLAY (a) Competitors must enter names in book. (b) Entry fee must be paid. 13. Five day member is not eligible to win first prize in any singles club competition. 14. To maintain your handicap a member must have submitted three cards from 18 Hole competitions held in the club during 2013. 24
Ladies Rules of Competition 2014 The decision of the Committee in relation to any matter arising in regard to the competition shall be final. 6 Players constitute a competition. BEFORE PLAY Competitors must enter names in book. Entry fee must be paid. Cards must be completed correctly i.e. name, date, handicap, player’s signature, marker’s signature etc. As each member is responsible for her own handicap, please ensure correct handicap is on card. Only paid up members are entitled to win a prize. An associate or student member paying a reduced fee is not entitled to win first prize in any major competition. Please use player’s name (not ‘Partner’) when completing time sheet. Please inform your marker(s) and opponents of any alteration or cancellation on time sheet. Always go into Clubhouse before playing, as local rules may change from day to day and these will be posted in Clubhouse. Agreement to waive rules, incurs a penalty of disqualification of both players. Your handicap is your responsibility. It is up to each player to ensure that she plays off correct handicap. Penalty: Disqualification from competition. 25
Cleaning Ball: A ball may not be cleaned unless it is on the green. It can then be marked and lifted. It cannot be cleaned at any other time unless local rules permit cleaning & placing as in winter golf etc. Always rake bunkers after you. Replace divots and repair pitch marks. Slow Play: When going on the green, leave your caddy car at the side of green nearest the next tee as this speeds up play. Player who has the honour on the tee should drive before marking the card. 3 Card Rule: To be eligible to win any of the major prizes i.e. Lady Captain’s Prize, Lady President’s Prize, Captain’s Prize to the Ladies or President’s Prize to the Ladies, you must be a full member of the club for 12 calendar months and must have submitted 3 cards from Ladies 18 hole competitions on this course during 2014. Golfer of the Year: There are 21 Golfer of the Year Competitions. To be eligible to win you must play in a minimum of 10 Golfer of the Year Competitions. 26
