INTRODUCTION My hope is that this Playbook help you find clarity, create a plan, and achieve your goals. It’s purposefully designed to be an easy-to-use, no fluff approach. To help ensure its effectiveness and to get the results you seek, complete the “challenge” at the end of each section. Also, I encourage you not to overthink your responses to each challenge. Trust your intuition as you complete each section. If you have multiple goals, complete the playbook for each goal separately. WHY THIS PROCESS WORKS By clearly determining what you want and mapping your actions to achieve that goal, you can create virtually any outcome you desire. This methodology has been used for centuries by some of the world’s most successful people and I’m confident it will help you. DECIDE WHAT YOU WANT Deciding what you want, is the first step to achieving any goal. There is incredible power in making the decision to pursue a specific outcome. This first step seems too simple. But is it really? How many people in your life have proactively decided exactly what they want and have executed a plan for achieving it? Many people find that actively deciding on a specific goal is stress reducing and brings a sense of calm and peace into their lives. This is because during the decision-making process many people feel anxiety about all their options, by committing to a specific goal this feeling of worry often subsides. It also makes future decisions easier, because if something doesn’t align with your pursuit, you don’t need to spend energy thinking about it. If you are struggling with deciding on a specific goal, choose something that is in-line with your strengths, values, passion or desired lifestyle. 8
CHALLENGE #1 Finish this sentence. My goal is to __________. NOTE: Don’t worry about the execution of what you want to achieve. We’ll take care of that later. If your goal is to write and publish your first book, simply write: I want to write and publish my first book. Also, don’t shrink in this moment. You know what you want. What date do you want to achieve your goal by? 9

DETERMINE WHY THIS IS YOUR GOAL After determining your goal, it’s tempting to focus on how you’re going to make it happen. However, before focusing on that, it’s important to determine why this is your goal. What is the purpose, cause, or belief that inspires this goal? This will serve as the foundation for your long-term motivation. For example, it may be to: • Create something that positively impacts the world • Teach children how to read • Start a family business that helps the community The more powerful your “why" the better. When you have clarity on why you want to achieve your goal, you are less likely to give up when motivation is low or challenges arise. 11

3 MEASURE COMMIT 100% & “What is the point of being alive if you don’t at least try to do something remarkable?" -John Green 13
MEASURE YOUR GOAL It’s critical to determine specifically how you will know when your goal is achieved. How will you determine if your goal has been achieved? For example, “I will know my goal is achieved when I lose 25 pounds.” COMMIT 100% Commitment is defined as, “the state of being dedicated to a cause or activity.” Obstacles will arise when pursuing your goals. Make the decision to remain committed to your goal when things get difficult. Decide now that you’re not going to give up and commit fully to creating a successful outcome. Committing to your goal means you are willing to put up with short-term pain for long-term success. With 100% commitment, you will: • Maintain clarity and focus on the result you desire • Spend time planning and executing effectively • Be less likely to quit when challenges arise As challenges arise ask yourself: • How can I use this as fuel? • What good may come from this? • How would my mentor or role model respond to this challenge? 14
CHALLENGE #3 How will you know when your goal has been achieved? List two potential challenges. Plan for two challenges that may hold you back and a tactic for overcoming each. For example, if your goal is to start a business while working a full-time job, finding time to work on your new business is a challenge. Your tactic for overcoming this could be to wake up earlier to work on your business. 1. What tactic could you use to overcome this challenge? 2. 4 ELIMINATE EXCUSES “It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves.” -William Shakespeare 16
ELIMINATE EXCUSES Blaming others and making excuses reduces the ability to achieve your goal. By eliminating excuses and taking 100% responsibility for everything that happens to you, you gain control over the outcome. Every time you blame external circumstances or other people, you give up your personal power. If you feel tempted to make excuses, ask yourself: • What am I achieving by making this excuse? • What could I have done differently? • How can I ensure this doesn’t happen again? When you aren’t concerned with placing blame on external circumstances, you can quickly learn from your mistakes. When a mistake is made: 1. Own it. 2. Learn from it. 3. Move on. 17
CHALLENGE #4 What is a common excuse you tend to make? Why do you make this excuse? How does this excuse hold you back? How could this excuse prevent you from achieving your goal? 18
5 TAKE MASSIVE ACTION "The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing." -Walt Disney 19
TAKE MASSIVE ACTION The best way to gain momentum toward achieving your goal is by taking massive action. Massive action is intentional, directed, and effective action toward your goal. Leonardo da Vinci, one of the most prolific individuals to ever live said, "Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do." Through action, you will overcome your fears, dismantle self-limiting beliefs, expand your skills and experience, and increase your competence and confidence. Each day you delay action, expect to grow increasingly frustrated from the missed opportunity. The time to begin working toward your goal is now. Do not wait for the perfect moment to begin. Start by taking your first action. Don’t let fear convince you otherwise. Decide what you want and act on it. 20

TRACK MILESTONES Milestones are small manageable targets for you to achieve during the pursuit of your goal. They demonstrate you are making progress and ensure you have a logical roadmap in place for the achievement of your goal. They also help you not to feel overwhelmed while pursuing your larger goal. Milestones are not the same as actions. You will achieve your milestones through your actions. For example, if your goal is to lose 25 pounds in five months, a milestone could be to lose 5 pounds each month. The actions you take to achieve each milestone may be to reduce carbohydrate intake, stop eating sugar, and daily exercise. Milestones should be assigned deadlines to ensure progress toward your goal. See the example below: GOAL: ACTIONS: MILESTONES: GOAL ACHIEVED Lose 25 pounds in 5 Limit carbs to 25g daily #1 Lose 5 pounds total by January 31 months Eliminate sugar #2 Lose 10 pounds total by February 28 State date: January 1 Exercise daily for 30 #3 Lose 15 pounds total by March 31 minutes #4 Lose 20 pounds total by April 30 #5 Lose 25 pounds total May 31 Share your milestones with a friend, mentor, or coach who can act as your accountability partner. Your accountability partner can offer suggestions and encouragement as obstacles present themselves. Find someone you trust, who will encourage and challenge you. Schedule weekly meetings with your accountability partner to share updates on your progress. 23
CHALLENGE #6 Create a milestone plan with a minimum of 5 milestones and assign a completion date to each. Milestones: Completion Date: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Identify a potential accountability partner who you trust and will encourage and challenge you during the pursuit of your goal: 24
Final thoughts At this point, you should have: • Decided what you want • Determined why you want this goal • Committed 100% • Eliminated excuses • Identified a plan for taking massive action • Designed a milestone plan and identified an accountability partner It’s easy to recoil at this point. I want to encourage you to persist. Refer frequently to your responses to “Challenge #2” on page 12 for motivation. Don’t let anyone hold you back. Everyone may not be happy about your goal, but don’t let that stop you from pursuing it. When self-doubt and fear creeps in, here are a couple of quotes I have found helpful to reflect on: • "To fear is one thing. To let fear grab you by the tail and swing you around is another." -Katherine Paterson • "Everything I did in my life that was worthwhile I caught hell for." -Earl Warren Lastly, start working toward your goal immediately. You cannot achieve anything without starting the journey. Have the guts to make mistakes along the way, mistakes are not fatal. You’ll survive; get back up and keep moving. You can do this. 25
