GROUP EXERCISE CLASS DESCRIPTIONS Classes are open to Members and Potential Members age 14 & up. Classes follow the monthly schedule located on the back cover of this guide. AQUA CLASSES Aqua Motion- No swimming ability required! This class uses low impact moves in the shallow end to build muscle, improve balance, and burn calories in an aquatic environment that reduces stress on joints and muscles. Aqua Zumba®- Take the party to the pool! All the fun of Zumba with low-impact moves done in the shallow end. Deep Aqua Motion- This class will meet in the deep end of the pool. Participants may use float belts for assistance. You decide the intensity level as the instructor leads you through the moves. Some swimming ability required. H2O Stretch & Destress- Get in the pool and let the buoyancy of the water help relax you as you work on flexibility and mobility. Power Wave- Improve cardio and muscle conditioning in this total-body, low-impact workout in the pool. Senior Splash- Lots of fun in the shallow end of the pool with moves that mimic activities of daily living. Improve agility, flexibility and cardio endurance. No swimming ability required! LAND CLASSES Indoor Cycling- A low-impact, high intensity cardio workout set to music. You control the speed, resistance, and intensity as your instructor leads you through a warm up and a variety of tempos that mimic climbs, sprints, and hills. Bring water and a towel! Indoor Cycling + Boot Camp- A cardio workout on the spin bike, combined with intense strength work off the bike. Kinetic Strength- Challenge your heart, lungs, and muscles in this intense, circuit-style workout! The class uses battle ropes, kettle bells, bodyweight, and more! Strength in 30- Build strength and gain muscle tone in this full body resistance training class. ® *SilverSneakers Circuit- a low impact, chair-based class that incorporates standing choreography in combination with other tools to improve cardiovascular health, mobility and strength. *Open to all, no charge for Silver Sneakers members. *SilverSneakers® Classic- a low-to-no impact class that will improve cardiovascular and muscular endurance using hand weights, a resistance band, and a Silver Sneakers ball. A chair is available for seated or standing support. *Open to all, no charge for Silver Sneakers members. *SilverSneakers® Yoga- Chair-based movements and postures to help manage stress, help with relaxation, and increase flexibility and balance. *Open to all, no charge for Silver Sneakers members. Total Body Toning - Stay strong and agile with this low-impact strength class using hand weights, bands, and more. Appropriate for all levels. VeraFlow® - Dance, stretch, and find your true flow in this class as you stretch your body and train your mind to the rhythm of the music. Yoga- Learn postures and breathing that will help relieve stress and tension as well as build strength and stamina. Appropriate for all levels. Zumba®- A fusion of Latin dance themes creating an exciting and effective fitness program. Join the fun! ® Zumba Gold- Suitable for beginners! All the fun of Zumba, with basic moves set to a slower pace. ® ® Zumba + Zumba Toning- Combine cardio and strength workouts in this energetic, upbeat Zumba fitness class! ® ® ® ® Zumba + VeraFlow - Get a fun cardio workout with Zumba , plus some stretching and flexibility work with VeraFlow in this combo class! CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER YOUTH DEVELOPMENT The YMCA’s Child Development Center is proud to be a four star rated center under Ohio’s Step Up to Quality rating system. Step Up to Quality (SUTQ) is a five-star quality rating and improvement system administered by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. SUTQ recognizes and promotes learning and development programs that meet quality program standards that exceed licensing health and safety regulations. The program standards are based on national research identifying standards which lead to improved outcomes for children. PRESCHOOL & PRE-K PROGRAM Our Preschool programs provide instruction using the Creative Curriculum, which offers a wide variety of developmental and age appropriate activities to encourage social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth. Y Preschool programs foster the healthy development of youth by offering young children and families early learning readiness experiences. CODE OF CONDUCT The YMCA of Darke County is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all members and guests. To promote safety and comfort for all, we ask individuals to act appropriately at all times when they are in our facility or participating in our programs. Our Code of Conduct does not permit any language or action that can hurt or frighten another person, or that falls below a generally accepted standard of conduct. Specifically, this includes: • Clothing, jewelry, patches, or buttons with inappropriate statements, including sexual innuendoes, the explicit advocation of violence, or the advertisement or implication of tobacco, alcohol, drugs, or related paraphernalia is prohibited. • No bare chests, backs, or midriffs. • Angry or vulgar language, including swearing, name calling, or shouting. • Physical conduct with another person in an angry or threatening way. • Any demonstration of sexual activity or sexual contact with another person. • Harassment or intimidation by words, gestures, body language, or any other menacing behavior. • Theft or behavior that results in the destruction of property. • Carrying or concealing any weapons, devices or objects which may be used as weapons. Members and guests are responsible for their personal safety and comfort and they should ask any person whose behavior threatens their safety or comfort to stop the offending behavior. Any member or guest who feels uncomfortable doing so should report the behavior to a staff person or Building Supervisor on duty. To ensure the safety and well-being of all employees, members, and other visitors, the YMCA of Darke County reserves the right to inspect and/or search all areas of the Y and a person’s belongings or vehicle under appropriate circumstances. • Security cameras are installed at various locations within the Y. Activities displayed by these cameras are monitored and recorded. • Personal video recorders, cameras, or any other visual recording devices are not allowed within the Y without the written consent of the Executive Director. Anyone caught taking pictures of another person without their permission and knowledge will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law by the Y and their membership may be terminated. Some cellular phones have the ability to take pictures. For your own safety and the safety of others, please be aware if someone is using a cell phone within your vicinity. • Persons listed and confirmed as a registered sex offender will be denied and/or terminated from membership at the Y. •Members and guests should not hesitate to notify a staff person with any concerns or questions. In order to carry out these policies, we ask that members and guests identify themselves when asked. While the YMCA of Darke County is a non-profit organization, it is still a private establishment. Suspension or termination of membership benefits, or loss of guest privileges, may result from a determination by the Executive Director if, in his discretion, a violation of the Code of Conduct has occurred or if any person behaves in a manner that is not consistent with the mission or values of the Y.
