DEAN’S MESSAGE Associate Professor Dr. Partiban Subramanian Dean, Faculty of Allied Health Science The Faculty of Allied Health Science exemplifies excellence in the areas of management, clinical and health-related scientific fields. We provide a foundation for intellectual and creative experiences at the leading edge of the human experience. Our faculty also offers innovative educational programmes to meet the various demands and needs of the society in line with our strong desire to help the students in achieving their targeted goals and obtain remarkable success upon completion of their studies. Our programmes can help prepare students for a quality adult life in the global village. Comprehensive curriculum are developed and delivered via interactive teaching and learning activities. Through a sequence of courses students can learn the soft skills and attitudes that can help them make a positive impact on the world at large. This will also help prepare them to become an articulate communicator, a careful thinker, a person who is concerned with good health and healthy interpersonal relationships that cross cultural boundaries. In addition, continuous guidance also given by qualified lecturers who are not only dedicated but committed in motivating students to excel in their studies. We have readily available equipments which are tailored to the needs of the learning requirement of the respective programmes. The students will be exposed to the clinical posting/industrial training locally/globally. In the field of research, students will be exposed to research activities not only in AMU but also in research projects that being conducted at hospitals and other related fields. HIGHLIGHTS Faculty of Allied Health Science (FOAHS) comprises of three departments conducting Diploma, Bachelor and Master degree programmes in Medical Laboratory Technology, Healthcare Management, Biomedical Science, Environmental Health and Occupational Safety and Health. All degree programmes consist of 120 credit hours which have been designed in par with Malaysian Qualification Agency and International standards. Our Faculty is well-equipped with teaching and learning facilities with hands-on as well site and field experiences. Our faculty is designed with dedicated teaching and research laboratories such as Environmental Lab, Biomedical Science Lab, Microbiology Lab, Histo-Cytopathalogy Lab and Blood Banking with state of arts facilities. Learning, teaching and assessment method here focus on providing students with engaging and contemporary materials which link proactive and theory and challenge students to think critically. We have qualified academic staffs with more than 5 years teaching and industrial experience in their respective fields. RECOGNITION Curriculum is approved by the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC), and Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA). DIPLOMA IN OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY & HEALTH (A7491 [05/2017] Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health is a multidisciplinary course aimed to train and produce competent professionals and expertise in the field of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH). Through this program, students will be provided with the knowledge and skill in both theory and practical aspects in OSH.
