JEFF GOLDBLUM AND THE MILDRED SNITZER ORCHESTRA 17 Nov – Cadogan Hall Not many people know that Jeff Goldblum plays a mean jazz piano, in addition to star- ring in Jurassic Park, Independence Day and The Fly, where he provides that uniquely wry, charming and unpredictable edge. In fact, he formed his band The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra in LA. They play loose, improvised versions of jazz standards from Summertime to Stella By Star- light, which they’ve just recorded for Decca. They’re pretty relaxed onstage – Jeff makes sure his musicians and the audience have a good time together – it’s taken them 20 years to get to London for this special Festival show just ahead of their debut album later this year, so don’t miss this special encounter. BBC RADIO 1 EXTRA LIVE 22 Sep – The O2 BBC Radio 1Xtra Live is coming to The O2 and hosted by the 1Xtra DJ family, the station’s flagship live music event will include performances from Chance The Rapper, Chip, Ella Mai, Jorja Smith, MIST, Mr Eazi, Pusha T and Yxng Bane ...with more names to be announced in the coming weeks. Last year BBC Radio1Xtra celebrated its 15th anniversary and the station continues to play a pivotal role in bringing black and urban music to the mainstream.
