ABOUT PACT
    PACT’s mission is to give emerging artists the time, space & rigorous support they need to push
    themselves & their chosen form. These forms span the diversity of contemporary performance
    combining aspects of theatre, dance, video art, music & installation. Founded in 1964, and based in
    an iconic inner-city black-box warehouse in Sydney, PACT is where first-time artists work with
    inspiring mentors and producers to pilot Australia’s artistic future.

    POSITION PURPOSE
    The Executive Producer/ CEO of PACT is the key senior leadership role within the organisation. We
    are looking for an engaged, inspiring leader with striking creative vision to take PACT into the
    future. This role will continue to build on PACT's financial stability, forge strong community and
    stakeholder partnerships and both envision and deliver a strong program for 2022 and beyond. The
    role reports directly to PACT's board of directors (governing committee) and is an ex-officio
    appointee to the board. In collaboration with the board, and the organisation's creative leadership,
    the Executive Producer/ CEO sets the strategic direction and priorities of PACT, publically
    represents and advocates for the organisation, and has overall responsibility for resourcing,
    scheduling and delivering PACT's annual program.

    PACT TEAM STRUCTURE 2021/22
    The Executive Producer/ CEO of PACT is supported by and leads the PACT team, consisting of an
    Associate Producer/ Marketing Manager, Development Manager, Venue/ Production Manager plus
    Office Admin support, a team of Front of House and Technical staff and the Artistic Directorate.

    KEY FUNCTIONS AND OUTCOMES
    To ensure PACT meets its strategic objects, and continues to be a vibrant, successful arts
    organisation and a leader in its field, the Executive Producer/ CEO is responsible for delivering the
    following key functions and outcomes, as well as any other duties as reasonably directed by the
    board from time to time:

    Leadership and Management
•   Provides leadership and vision in setting organisational strategy and objectives, delivering program
    and business development
•   Ensures appropriate resourcing levels (including financial, physical and human) are maintained for
    the organisation to run efficiently and effectively
•   Oversees the day-to-day operations of the organisation
•   Identifies, mitigates and manages strategic and operational risks faced by the organisation
•   Provides support to the board to ensure the organisation is effectively governed and meets is
    legislative, compliance and regulatory obligations, including:
        o annual reporting and related requirements;
        o an effective internal control environment; and
        o company secretariat functions to the board
•   Develops and manages key stakeholder relationships, including:
        o liaison with government, funding bodies (including prepares and acquitting funding

submissions) and other industry bodies; and
        o strategic partnerships with other arts and related organisations
•   Provides strategic and operational reporting to the board and committees as required, to support
    effective decision making and oversight

    Financial and Human Resources Operations
•   Creates annual and project budgets in consultation with the board and artistic leadership and is
    responsible for cost control throughout the organisation (supported by the Financial Controller)
•   Prepares financial reports, including KPIs and other relevant information, as required for
    presentation to the board (supported by the Financial Controller)
•   Oversees the annual audit process (supported by the Financial Controller)
•   Maintains accurate records in relation to all financial transactions, including payroll, employee
    remuneration and entitlements
•   Prepares payment schedules, invoices and payroll to be processed by the bookkeeper
•   Provides financial reporting to government, philanthropic bodies and regulators (e.g. ATO, ACNC,
    ROCO and Fair Trading)
•   Negotiates and manages contracts and contractual obligations and relationships and insurance
•   Manages all human resources and payroll requirements, including recruitment and remuneration,
    staff leave and other entitlements, workplace health and safety and workers compensation, and
    industrial relations and dispute resolution
•   Delivers and provides financial guidance to participants in the auspice program

    Programming, Infrastructure and Venue Management
•   Provides strategic and operational support to the board and artistic leadership to
    develop and deliver the annual artistic program
•   Develops and explores new initiatives, ideas and events outside the organisation's current
    programs, including in collaboration with other industry partners
•   Oversees the operational management and strategic development of the organisation's venue and
    related physical infrastructure, including insurance and work health and safety
•   Manages operational venue requirements, including bookings, hire contracts, maintenance and
    improvements program
•   Delivers front of house services, including events/seasons and subscription ticketing, sales tracking
    and reporting, casual staff rostering and training and coordinating opening night event
•   Manages retail offering, including bar (e.g. stock control and product mix) to maximise revenue

    Fundraising and Marketing
•   Supports the board in delivering the organisation's fundraising strategy, including increasing and
    diversifying donation/sponsorship revenue and coordinating fundraising events
•   Pursues and maximises other earned income opportunities, include ticketing and retail
    sales and venue hiring
•   Develops and delivers the membership program and services, including communication and
    engagement and alumni engagement
•   Oversees the development and implementation of strategic and operational marketing plans for
    the organisation and monitor their effectiveness

ENVIRONMENT & POSITION CHALLENGES
PACT Centre for Emerging Artists is situated on the land of the Gadigal People of the Eora Nation.
First nations applicants are encouraged to apply.

PACT is an Incorporated Association and governed by a Board of Directors. PACT is in reciept of
annual funding from the NSW State Government through Create NSW and is supported by the
Council of the City of Sydney through an accommodation grant. Further, the organsaiton has
secured two-year project funding from the Austrlaian Federal Government’s RISE fund. PACT
sources project funding from multiple sources including the Australia Council for the Arts, Create
NSW, the City of Sydney, philanthropic foundations including the Neilson Foundation and direct
donations.

PACT has a small permanent staff of three including one full-time and two part-time positions.
Staff are located in an intimate office space, where close working relationships, open
communication and a team mentality are essential to the maintenance of a creative and calm
environment.

RENUMERATION DETAILS

    Position Status:       Two Year Full-Time Contract
    Hours of duty:         Full-Time. PACT office hours are 10am-6pm. After hours/weekend work will be
                           required.
    Remuneration:          $75,000 - $80,000 pro rata + a professional development budget
    Superannuation:        9.5% p.a. additional to salary
    Annual leave:          20 days p.a. pro rata
    Personal leave:        10 days p.a. pro rata

    SELECTION CRITERIA

    SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    Required
•   Minimum three years' experience in an arts leadership position
•   Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the performing arts creative process
•   Track record in leadership of arts programs and / or project development and implementation
•   Proven ability to strategically think, plan and act in a dynamic and sustainable manner
•   Extensive arts industry networks and contacts, with excellent knowledge and understanding of
    current performing arts industry trends, issues and opportunities
•   Highly developed business management abilities, including financial and HR management
•   Holds, or is able to obtain, a police clearance and NSW Liquor License

    Desirable
•   Current or previous performing arts practice
•   Current divers licence
