GRAND PRIX FANS We welcome you to the 2022 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear and the final Grand Prix hosted on Belle Isle. We are proud of the Grand Prix’s history on Belle Isle and the special memories that have been made as a result of the event and its presence on the island. We look forward to celebrating the heritage of the Grand Prix on Belle Isle this weekend and our goal is to make the 2022 event the best one ever. As we honor the past and present on Belle Isle, we are also very excited about the future and a new era beginning for the Grand Prix with the return to Downtown Detroit in 2023. We encourage you to visit our Grand Prix Legacy Display during race weekend, located in the Meijer Fan Zone. The Legacy Display will pay tribute to some of greatest moments in Grand Prix history on Belle Isle, while also providing a preview of the exciting future for the event in the heart of the Motor City. An important element of the Grand Prix legacy is the positive impact the event has made on Belle Isle. With more than $13.5 million in improvements to the island since the Grand Prix returned to Detroit in 2007, while working alongside our partners at the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, we have helped restore and rejuvenate this world-class island park. Through our annual Grand Prixmiere fundraising event, the Grand Prix has also helped raise more than $6 million for the Belle Isle Conservancy over the past eight years. We are proud to add to those contributions in 2022. The on-track action will help create some new memories this weekend with six races over three days on Belle Isle. The NTT INDYCAR SERIES will race Sunday in the Chevrolet INDYCAR Grand Prix. On Saturday, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship will compete in the Chevrolet Sports Car Classic. We also welcome back the future stars of racing with Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires competing on both Saturday and Sunday and we are excited to welcome a new series that features some of the most iconic sports cars in history with the Masters Endurance Legends USA, featuring races on both Saturday and Sunday. We want to thank Chevrolet and General Motors for their continued support of the Grand Prix, as well as our partners at Lear Corporation for helping us host our annual summertime celebration here in the Motor City. Thank you to all of our Grand Prix partners, along with our incredible Detroit Grand Prix Association volunteers, who serve as great ambassadors for our event and our city. Thank you for being part of this historic weekend on Belle Isle. Have a fun and safe weekend and please visit our website at DetroitGP.com after the event to share your feedback with our team. Sincerely, Bud Denker Chairman Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear 2
DEAR RACE FANS On behalf of General Motors, Chevrolet and Cadillac, I’d like to welcome you to Detroit and to Belle Isle for a great weekend of motorsports action at the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear. This year’s race weekend will be one you don’t want to miss, as it’s the last year on Belle Isle before the cars return to the streets of Downtown Detroit in 2023. Over the years, we have had a great partnership with the Belle Isle Conservancy, and the event has brought a lot of money and resources that have helped make our jewel of an island park even better and more beautiful, all year round. For the last time, the world’s best drivers face the challenge of the island’s 2.3-mile street circuit – with an incredible weekend lineup. Belle Isle will host six races from four series June 3-5, including the newly added Master Endurance Legends USA races on Saturday and Sunday. The course is a true test of strategy, setup and execution of race plan, which makes for an exciting weekend, and one that’s fun for the whole family. Games, interactive displays, great food, live music and more all return to the Grand Prix this year. The weekend’s races at the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear include: n Chevrolet INDYCAR Grand Prix (NTT INDYCAR SERIES Race) n Chevrolet Sports Car Classic (IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Race) n Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires, two races n Masters Endurance Legends USA, new for 2022, two races We look forward to celebrating the final Grand Prix weekend on Belle Isle, and we’re excited to welcome the event back to the streets of Downtown Detroit in 2023.
