Friday, 16 February 2018 European Wasp: new services Council introduced a new service to assist its residents with the removal of European Wasp nests from their property. European Wasps are very common throughout Adelaide. Their nests have been found in a variety of places such as vents, building cavities, holes in trees, holes in the ground and even in ceilings of houses. So, what does a European Wasp look like? They have a yellow body and legs and they have black triangular markings on their abdomen. They are larger than a bee and unlike a bee, each wasp can sting multiple times. If left undisturbed, European Wasps are not aggressive to humans or other animals. If you have fund a wasp nest on your property and you would like Council to remove it, please contact us on 8342 7100 For information, click here www.walkerville.sa.gov.au Embankment Update SA Water Latest update In previous correspondence, we advised that the detailed design for both the drainage elements and soil embankment is close to being finalised by SA Water. South Australia’s Ex-Service Commemorative Calendar 2018 The annual Ex-Service Commemorative Calendar is an initiative of the Veterans Advisory Council (VAC), established by the South Australian Government in 2008. The calendar has particular significance in 2018 as we enter the final year of the Anzac Centenary period. This year attention shifts to battles in which South Australians fought on the Western Front, particularly The Battle of Hamel in France. Led by General Sir John Monash, the Battle of Hamel on 4 July 1918, lasted only 93 minutes but was the turning point for Allied victory in World War I. Please contact Veterans SA by telephone on (08) 8226 8552 if you would like to receive copies of this year's Commemorative Calendar.
