Introduction The world population keeps growing, and our current economic models and consumption patterns instigate climate change while accelerating the depletion of natural resources and biodiversity. It is thus more im- portant now, than ever before, for AGE to outline and control their impact on the environment. AGE is aware of our impact locally and globally, and wants to be an active participant in driving environ- mental change. In this respect, we have created mem- ber guidelines for best environmental practice. Our Environmental Policy outlines these guidelines and frames our objectives, commitments and mea- sures in line the United Nations Global Compact guid- ing principles. AGE ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY 2
Objectives The objectives of our Environmental Policy are to: • Outline AGE’s commitment to environmental im- provement and development • Drive AGE members to focus on environmental im- provement and development •Promote the application of best environmental practic- es to other stakeholders AGE ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY 3
Commitments • Take into consideration the environmental laws, rules and voluntary obligations our members have imple- mented prior to their AGE membership • Respect and protect the environment, in which we operate, limiting as far as possible any harmful impact to the future of our planet • Understand how our business impacts and relies on nature • Manage our environmental risk assessment when there is reasonable suspicion of harm, even without scientific proof • Track and monitor the suspected risk of initiatives to human health and to the environment short, medium and long-term AGE ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY 4
• Provide effective and transparent communication of information about uncertainties and potential risks to our stakeholders. Disclosures should be clear, bal- anced and understandable, with relevant information • Support members, through developmental assis- tance and economic incentives, to undertake policies and measures that help address environmental issue • Empower people and raise awareness of individual and collective environmental performance to drive knowledge exchange • Work together with our suppliers to improve our envi- ronmental performance • Aim to use more sustainable products AGE ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY 5
• Reduce, reuse and recycle waste • Give priority to investment in sustainable projects • Invest in international initiatives which drive responsi- ble environmental performance • Reduce energy consumption, water consumption and, environmental impact through sustainable mea- sures and the use of renewable energy sources. Re- search and implement technological improvements or innovations, as needed, to support this transition. AGE ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY 6
Measures To support the commitments outlined above, AGE will implement the following measures: • Raise awareness by sharing our practices and pro- viding documentation to our members on ways they can work to improve their environmental impact • Create a webinar for all our members to inform about our Environmental Policy • Communicate our environmental performance, in a regular and transparent manner, to all our stakeholders • Develop a platform to showcase the consistent ap- plication of the Environmental Policy throughout the network AGE ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY 7
• Include sustainability considerations in business de- cision making • Create a “Waste Management Policy” to enforce recycling in our warehouses, workshops and service centres • Partner with international and local recycling organi- zations • Build closer ties with civil society organizations, es- pecially at the regional and local level • Share our performance goals/targets • Monitor and evaluate our performance annually • Publicly disclose policies and practices AGE ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY 8
Workshops or Service Centres • Repair Before Replace Policy: where possible always repair the automotive glass instead of replacing to contribute to the preservation of the environment and its natural resources • Actively alert drivers to the timely repair of minor damage in order to prevent a windscreen replacement thus reducing environmental burden • Consult with fleet and leasing partners to encourage proactive minor damage repair to prevent replace- ments AGE ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY 9
Climate • Adopt energy efficiency measures • Study ways to reduce gas emissions (mobile units) and carbon footprint • Invest in clean mobility initiatives and land restoration organizations • Support policies that advance clean energy opportu- nities AGE ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY 10
Water • Use and sustainably manage water in our operations and installations • Protect and restore natural resources • Maintain and improve water quality AGE ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY 11
Natural Resources • Promote the efficient utilization of natural resources in our activities • Enforce the 3Rs: reduce, reuse and recycle • Give priority to the usage of sustainable products Biodiversity • Contribute to reduction of biodiversity loss • Support causes related to biodiversity AGE ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY 12
